Lawdy Lawdy! Back in the Creole heartland and things are definitely mighty fine.
Magnolia has been a mystery throughout this entire series of books. You wanted to root for her, you wanted to hate her, you wanted her as a best friend but you were scared to turn your back on her.
Moses Gaspard was definitely a villain personified. He ruined the lives of several of our favorite characters and seemed unredeemable in my eyes. Low and behold, he is an anti hero….And desperately in love with Magnolia. Has been for years, just trying to be good enough to return and love her for eternity.
This is another fabulous story, going back to the sinful city of New Orleans and we get to re-engage with some familiar faces. Absolutely can’t wait for the second story!!!!!!!
I always pick up a Meghan March novel knowing it’s going to be one hell of a ride. Creole Kingpin exceeded my expectations and I was OBSESSED! This story grabs you from the very beginning and never lets go. It’s days later after finishing and I feel like I’m still living in this story. Magnolia and Moses were ALL. THE. MF. THINGSSSS!!
This story was mind blowing and Moses and Magnolia’s romance had me racing through so many emotion. From jaw-dropping twists to swoon-worthy romance to gasp-inducing drama and everything in between, Creol Kingpin had it all. This wasn’t just a story, it was an experience.
Of course Meghan March is is queen of cliffhangers and we’re left with a major one! I cannot wait for Madam Temptress!
Creole Kingpin…is FANTASTIC!!
I don’t know how Meghan March does it…but each story just gets better and better. It is so awesome to find out more about Moses Gaspard. He seemed like just a bad guy when he was after Legend. However there is more to him than meets the eye. Moses and Magnolia met 15 years ago ..he left for business and never came back. Now he’s back with a plan to get her back. Will it work? Pick up this book and devour it like I did. This is one of the best books I have read so far this year. I can’t wait for the second book in the series.
When Meghan said she’s going back into the world of New Orleans, I was so freaking happy. MORE MOUNT!!! My love for Mount is serious. Lol but this is not about Mount. u2063

On to the review…it was quite slow at the beginning, but when it started to pick up… WOW! Magnolia is not taking any crap from anyone. She’s her own queen. I love her so much! She can be quite stubborn that can be frustrating, but Moses left her for 15 years so you should try to understand her. Lol Moses.. Moses.. Moses. You do not mess with Mount. Lol Moses can be really swoon worthy. How he wants to protect her is everything. But he still haven’t redeem himself for me yet. He better have a good reason for disappearing that long. The CLIFFHANGER left me….!!!!u2063

He made a debut in the Legend Trilogy. I’m so glad Magnolia finally have her own books. I was really intrigued by her in the Mount Trilogy. Some people didn’t like her, but I did. Mount going to her means that she is badass. Lolu2063

I absolutely devoured this book! It was so good!!! So happy to see Magnolia finally get her story! And Moses is the best kind of bad boy that Meghan March is so good at writing! Warning: it ends in a cliffhanger, so if you don’t like those wait for Madam Temptress…I’ll be counting the days!!!Meghan March Creole Kingpin
Well holy smokes!! Everytime I read a Meghan March duet I about break a fingernail when I get to the end of the book because I’m so into it that I don’t realize I’m at the end until there’s no more!!! I can’t wait to find out how Magnolia and Moses is going to end.
I was riveted from the first page and didn’t want to put it down. (Like at all what so ever!) Moses has a lot to make up for but is Magnolia even going to give him the time of the day. They may have only had 2 weeks to fall for each other 15 years ago but neither one of them could forget the other.
Will Magnolia soften her heart towards him? She remembers the devastation she felt when she didn’t hear from him for 15 long years. She’s hardened her heart over the years, does he have what it takes to make her fall for him again? When it comes down to it and Magnolia needs help will she be able to trust him?
Cannot wait for the 2nd part of this duet!!
Kudos to Creole Kingpin! 4 stars
I was intrigued from the beginning of this book when we start with Magnolia’s day, then jumped right into the action. Meghan March made me feel like I was in New Orleans, and I loved that Magnolia partook of the traditions of the city. Magnolia was such a bada$$ – she was a strong, independent, fierce woman who relies only on herself. But a man from her past who left her and the city is coming back for her, Moses. At first, we don’t know much about him, but he also intrigued me especially as his layers were peeled back little by little. I did believe he was only there to get her back but obstacles were almost immediately in their path. A mystery starts to unravel, and I was curious where it would lead. It lead to Magnolia finally believing him! Magnolia was stubborn and didn’t want to let Moses explain or let him back in. When she finally believed him and left herself be free with him, it was beautiful to read. Moses made me swoon and was a perfect equal partner to her. But what happens when a truth Moses wasn’t ready to tell yet is forced out? A wicked cliffhanger is what happens, and I can’t wait to read the conclusion to Moses and Magnolia’s story! Kudos to Meghan March for writing another kick-a$$ heroine, swoon-worthy anti-hero and story that captivated me from the first chapter!
*I received an advanced copy of this ebook for my honest review.*
Y’ALL!!!! Creole Kingpin was incredible!! Action packed, sexy, sinful, suspenseful, and full of characters that make you question if they’re good or bad!!!
Magnolia!!! She is my favorite Meghan March Heroine!! She is feisty, smart, fierce, sarcastic, sassy, and bold but also, caring, loving, and loyal to those she loves!! She is one helluva heroine!!
Moses….he is dark, secretive, questionable, but charming, sexy, and interesting. These two characters make quite an intriguing story. I cannot wait for Madam Temptress!!!
Magnolia Maison was introduced in the Mount trilogy as Keira’s best friend. A former madam, she has a deep sometimes painful past in New Orleans, but has fought her way to the legitimate side of business, owning her decisions along the way. What not many know is that she fell in love during a particularly intense period of time just after Hurricane Katrina, just as she was making changes to her life that gave her hope for a better future. But the man she relied on couldn’t stay in New Orleans, and she couldn’t leave.
Moses Gaspard is back in New Orleans for the first time in 15 years and he has plans to win back the woman he had to leave behind. But he’s got his work cut out for him — she was fierce when he met her and she’s only grown stronger and harder in the years since he left.
I love Magnolia. She is a tell-it-like-it-is firecracker and has a firm grasp on her place in the world of New Orleans. She hasn’t always made easy choices, but she is looking forward to living an easier life now that she has stepped back onto the legitimate side of life. She has always had to be the hard exterior she has built, never letting anyone closer to her, never letting herself rely on anyone else, but now that the one man she tried to lean on is back in town, she is going to have to face whether her current path is what she wants, or if she can trust someone else to have her back after all.
Moses was a bit of a shady character when we met him in the Legend trilogy, but seeing him step into the light a little bit had me quickly falling for his charm. He is not an easy man, and has ot made easy choices, but he knows what he wants and is sure that Magnolia wants him too. Their past is too much to forget, even if it was for only a short time.
This is a second chance with a whole lot of suspense hanging in the shadows. Both Magnolia and Moses have secrets, enemies, and consequences of past actions haunting their moves. I found myself watching the shadows around them wondering exactly who the target is, and who is pulling the strings. There are several shady possibilities and I can’t wait to see what happens in Magnolia and Moses’s future — can they each let their guard down and be vulnerable? And if they do, how will their enemies react to finding the pair of them working together?
I have been waiting so long for Magnolia’s story! Meghan did not disappoint! I love Magnolia and how strong and determined she is. I didn’t think I would like Moses after reading Legend, but I changed my mind pretty fast! While the story was fast-paced and exciting, I loved the humor as well.
Magnolia Maison has been one of my favorite characters in all of Meghan March’s writing. She proved in the Mount trilogy that she was not to be messed with or taken advantage of. Her history was gruesome and painful but it helped her to become the woman she was now. A strong, smart, capable and feisty vixen!
The slow revelation of how Mags and Moses met, fell in love, drifted apart held so much angst and suspense. Truly a whirlwind romance that never fizzled out completely, even after 15 years!
Their chemistry and push/pull was so addicting! Every interaction was hostile and uncertain. I loved how Moses was forced to prove himself and show Magnolia he was worthy of her time and attention. She was not going to easily forgive and the torture she would put Moses through was stellar! I loved seeing her flex her power over him!
That cliffhanger!!!! You can always count on Meghan to leave you with your jaw on the floor, dying for the next installment!
I have been waiting for Magnolia’s story forever and I was not disappointed. Magnolia is such a strong heroine and she won’t take crap from anyone. She will stand on her own two feet. Love her and Moses, what can I say about Moses. He is so swoon worthy and an alpha man through and through. I can’t wait to see how their story ends. I highly recommend this book 1000%. Bring on book 2. I need it now.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
To say that I have been waiting for Magnolia’s story is an understatement. This book was amazing! Magnolia and Moses are everything! I loved finally seeing a glimpse into the mind of Magnolia. This book will not disappoint! I can’t wait for the conclusion of their story!
3.5 stars
This was my very first book by Meghan March and I must say her writing style captured me right from the beginning. The way she grows her characters through a enchanting and thrilling story is what I love most about this book. However, I really wished I had read the Mount Trilogy before. At the beginning I had a little trouble following this already established world. And my biggest problem with Magnolia and Moses was, that I couldn’t feel their chemistry, their attraction. I knew it was simmering just beyond the surface, but I couldn’t grab it until about the last third of the book. Otherwise I’m glad I got to meet a strong minded heroine like Magnolia, she’s definitely inspiring!
Can’t wait to continue this duet to get all my questions answered!
Creole Kingpin is a fascinating start to this duet!
I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Creole Kingpin, book one of Meghan March’s Magnolia Duet. It did not disappoint. I love the fact that this book brings us back to New Orleans. Yes this is a stand alone but knowing the connecting character’s story in this book is just icing on the cake. Magnolia was first introduced as Keira’s best friend. But there is so much more to this Madame.
Then we meet the hero (or anti-hero depending on how you look at him), Moses. He and Magnolia have a past that she’s not sure she wants to relive. He’s dark, he’s dangerous, but their chemistry zings off the pages. From the very start I was drawn in and couldn’t put the book down. I read the entire book in one sitting and couldn’t wait to find out what would happen next.
I NEED BOOK TWO OF THIS DUET – like yesterday! I am dying to know what happens next!
Meghan has certainly outdone herself in this Duet. I can’t wait to see how the plot twists and turns to get to the conclusion.
Mags!
I loved her story from the past to the now. It was a lot of growing and then it even became more with the new light she thought she had.
Moses is the blast from the past. The one who left. When Mags has it all under control 15 years later, Moses throws a wrench in it.
Creole Kingpin will have your heart pounding hard. There is a lot of angst and a lot of “WHAT THE ….” going on here. I FLOVE it and need the second book yesterday!!! I can’t not wait for more.
When life is hard in your childhood, you learn to roll with the punches. For Magnolia Marie Maison – the hardships in her life led the beauty to develop a second skin. The type of toughness that is needed to survive on your own through the trails of life. This knowledge led Magnolia to grow her own empire. One that isn’t defined by anyone else. A life that hardened Magnolia’s heart but allowed her to find a path in life that few would travel.
Part of Magnolia’s past involves a tryst with the one man that gave her pause – Moses Gaspard. Moses led Magnolia through a dark time in life. A path that led Magnolia to want things in her future that she would never usually dream about. Just when Mags let her guard down, Moses walked out of her life. Why? Magnolia doesn’t really know, but there have been times in the last 15 years that Mags has thought about the one person who captured her heart.
Fast forward to the present – Magnolia is working on achieving goals that will take her life in a new direction. Dreams that Mags has never dared to dream before are now coming to fruition. What Magnolia never could have imagined was a blast from her past changing the path. Moses has found his way back to town and is determined to capture Magnolia’s heart again. There is just one problem. Magnolia can’t forget the fact Moses walked out of her life without any explanation and it colors her perception of the situation. Moses knows he has his work cut out for him, but Magnolia might have other plans for her future. Two interwoven hearts find themselves at odds over the past and the future.
Tick tock….tick tock…..I have been waiting on Magnolia’s story for quite some time. If you read Ruthless King, then you know how sassy Magnolia’s character is perceived. Everything about the infamous madame intrigues me!! So – I devoured this book once I had it in my hands!!
Fans of Meghan March’s writing will remember Moses from The Fall of Legend. The mysterious and handsome man is more of a mystery than ever before. Where has Moses been for the last 15 years?? You will have to delve into the story to learn tidbits of the past. Moses is as mysterious as anyone connected to Mount can be, so I can’t wait to watch Moses’ back history unfold.
This series starter definitely left me wanting more of the sassiness that Magnolia brings to any book. Now that Moses is back in the picture, my brain is working overtime to figure out what secrets are lurking with the coming book. The twists concerning this couple are just starting to unravel. Make sure you grab this book to discover the secrets for yourself. Magnolia and Moses are waiting…….
4.5*
Been hoping to get Magnolia’s backstory and here it is!
Fifteen years is a long time to pine for someone who up and left. It’s just as long for the person who did the leaving. Moses is back to claim his woman. So HOT!
OH SNAP! That cliffy is just WOW!
WHY MEGHAN!!! You can’t end it like that!!!! Nooooooo I want more! I knew something was up but cmon this was a fabulous book and I can’t wait for book 2. So much is happening and we don’t have any answers magnolia is the a total bad a** and I’m so excited that we got to see the iconic couple, Kiera & Mount Moses isn’t everything he seems and he will surprise everyone I hope you’re ready for this epic story! Granted, aren’t all of Meghan’s stories outstanding?
Creole Kingpin is book one in the Magnolia Duet. It was a captivating read. I loved it! I wasn’t really a fan of Magnolia in the previous books but now I love her!! She was strong, fierce and sassy. Moses, the sexy and swoony anti hero was all alpha but sweet to her, which I love! Magnolia and Moses had an intense and explosive connection. I loved them together! Looking forward to reading book two!
