I’ll just be over here in the corner obsessing over Callum. Don’t mind me. Ok, but for real, how does Lani always manage to make a hero that makes all other book boyfriends look bad? What kind of voodoo magic is it that has her writing the perfection that is Callum? Can I get some and use that magic on literally any aspect of my life? Who am I kidding, I’d just use the magic to make a Callum I didn’t have to share with anyone else.
We got a little peek at the chemistry between Desi and Callum in the last book in this series but that peek does not prepare you for the full blown magnificence that these two are. I’m talking instant sizzling attraction and immediate swoony sweetness with a couple that had me fully invested from page one. There was no gradual build of me becoming more and more attached to Desi and Callum, it was an instant “OMFG I LOVE THESE CHARACTERS” when it came to them for me.
I laughed, cried, got mad and fell in love with these two on every page never wanting their story to end. Lani Lynn Vale has once again absolutely blown me away with her brilliance.
So in love with LLV’s writing! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Callum and Desi are going to knock your socks off. Our girl Desi has had a really hard life and the only thing she needs is for her ex-husband to leave her the hell alone. Callum is not expecting this fiery redhead to captivate him so much, he goes into alpha protector mode. Thus these two cannot seem to stay away from each other. So much chemistry and heat.
Another 5 Star Winner!
This book centers around Desi and Callum. Desi has an ex that they just downgrades and humiliates her at any and every opportunity. One day he picked the wrong restaurant to do it in and Callum came to the rescue. All of the verbal abuse Desi has been exposed to in the time she was married to her ex has left her feeling insecure and less than. She doesn’t believe Callum when he tells her she is perfect for him in every way. He has to slowly build up her self-esteem. At every opportunity her ex cuts her down, will Callum ever be able to break through to her? Will running the Spartan race give Desi back her confidence? I can’t wait for the third Valentine to fall!!
I am absolutely in love with this series! I thought no one would be able to top Ace Valentine but Holy Cow did Callum ever knock it out of the park!
Recently divorced from her cheating ex, Desi is just trying to put her life back together and prove that she is not the person her ex husband and his new fiance paints her to be. When Callum Valentine over hears Desi’s ex harrassing her, he can’t help but step in and put him in his place. I swooned hard for the sweet talking, sexy cowboy with a heart of gold. He and Desi had me rooting for them from the start and I couldn’t help but love them both.
I can’t get enough of the Valentine boys and I can’t wait to see what Vale brings us next in this series!
These Valentine boys make me swoon
Desi and Callum are the next couple on this crazy ride called life I absolutely loved this couple and the Valentine Boys and I absolutely loved Nico and Georgia’s twin boys – they are a hoot Can’t wait to read Bank’s story next
Desi just wants her ex and his new girlfriend to leave her alone. She’s not asking for much and yet, she can’t seem to escape them and their hateful comments. Imagine her surprise when one of the sexiest men she’s ever seen stands up for her.
Callum is the kind of man she should have had when she got married. He’s there for her when she needs him, makes her feel good about herself and will help her with her goals instead of crush them. Their relationship is sweet, hot and funny in places.
I loved Desi’s relationship with her ex-father-in-law. He’s a great man and they treat each other with love.
Quick read, another cute couple.
So these are more insta-romances than usual. So while entertaining stories, they lack some depth to the romances. But LLV always provides an entertaining read and this one will make you cringe, giggle, swoon, and sigh.
Desi and Callum are a great couple together and seeing Desi stand on her own with much needed familial support (thanks to the Valentine family) is great to watch her grow into her own. There is some sadness as well, so this story still tugs at your heart strings.
Overall an enjoyable quick read.
I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.
Crazy Heifer is the second title in The Valentine Boys series and after discovering the characters of Desi and Callum in Herd That, I was incredibly eager to read their story. I highly recommend reading Herd That prior to reading Crazy Heifer as at times the story lines run concurrent to each other. With strong themes of family, friendship and loyalty, I thoroughly enjoyed this captivating and engaging read.
Desi is the best friend of Codie, the heroine from Herd That. She’s such a realistic and relate-able heroine. She’s curvy and her figure causes her to feel self conscious, which i’m sure most females can relate to at some point in their lives. Despite the insecurities and self doubts that plague her, she’s also driven, determined, strong and capable.
Callum is my kind of hero. He’s kind, caring, compassionate, charming and loyal. A bighearted cowboy who will do anything to support those he cares for most. There were elements of his past that were glazed over a bit, and I would have liked a bit more detail of how his military history shaped his character, but that may come in future titles.
If you are looking for a small town romance, with heat, heart and humour that will leave you with a smile upon your face, look no further than Crazy Heifer. I will be eagerly awaiting the release of Chute Yeah and future titles in The Valentine Boys series.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
I fell in love with his rope sills. I stayed because somehow he took hold of my heart and made it his. Callum Valentine didn’t mean to eavesdrop. Then again? This is the story of Desi and Callum. Desi is divorced from her cheating scum of a ex who cheated on her with another woman. One that is crazy and obsessed with money. You are going to hate her and him so much. However he just can not stop coming into Desi’s life and making her miserable and even going so far as to embarrass her in front of the entire town. Which leads to Callum Valentine turning into her knight in shining armor. It is so worth reading just to watch Callum put the new fiance of the ex husband in her place. I swear I about fell off the couch laughing and would have paid good money to witness this in person. However this brings Desi to wonder if he was just stepping in to save the day or if he is really interested. Your going to fall in love, swoon, be a little sad and absolutely fall in love with this book.
This is the 2nd book in this awesome series and is Callum and Desi’s story. Desi is recently divorced from her bully of an ex-husband, and when Callum comes across a public humiliation from her ex he steps up to the plate and states that she is his. This is another beautifully written flawless tale which had me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend for all readers.
And another Valentine bites the dust!
“Crazy Heifer” features sexy as sin cowboy Callum and sweet and curvy Desi’s love story. After a chance encounter at a diner, Callum falls and falls hard for the curvaceous redhead being harassed by her ex husband and new fiancée. Swooping in to rescue her, he charms the pants off of her and worms his way into her life.
Their attraction to one another is strong and they don’t fight it. Instead they give into their feelings and work their way towards a very sweet happily ever after. This is perhaps my favorite book in The Valentine Boys series, I absolutely loved the drama free nature of it.
This is a great book for anyone looking for an enjoyable, no angst, sexy times filled read. TBR and enjoy. (I read an ARC and and am voluntarily leaving a review.)
Steamy with all the feels…
THIS! THIS STORY! This is why I love this author’s stories. Romance with humour, heart and family. One person loving another through it all – offering a shoulder to cry on and a giddy-up let’s roll when heads need knocking. Down to earth people who you sympathize with, cry and laugh with. And above all, love.
If you’ve read Herd That than the premise of this story is already known. And probably couldn’t wait to pounce on Desi and Callum’s story (just like me). Desi was determined to show her ex that he was behind her in all the ways that mattered. Even if it physically killed her to do it. That’s where Callum came in. He saw her struggling and wanted nothing more than to help. To offer that shoulder. And soon, he wanted a hella lot more than that!
They laughed, they sweated, they waged battle and it is was all glorious, steamy, delicious fun. Even when I got misty as life threw horrible curveballs (as it does), I smiled through tears because the emotion was just unbelievably, soulfully good. These Valentine boys know how to love their women and make even the worst, the best it could possibly be. Yup, this is swoony romance at its finest…

I’m loving the Valentine brothers series so much! Each brother is swoonier (that’s definitely a word) than the last.
Seeing how Callum showed Desi she was worth loving….le sigh
I loved seeing Desi come out on top & “crush” her ex! It was seriously so satisfying.
We got to see a better side of Darby too! It made me so excited for his book!!
In the first story, Herd That, we met Callum Valentine and all of his family as well as Desidara who are great characters and easy to like with their quick wit and friendly personalities. However, we also met Desi’s ex-husband, Mal who is an absolute pig of a man, and that’s being nice about it. Two completely different types of men and are compared without trouble making it #TeamCallumDesi straight away.
Desi had a confidence level on the very low range due to her douchebag of an ex but having a terrific best friend living back in town and developing a relationship with a new friend, Callum, truly helped. She was an honest woman with a heart of gold. Callum was a hard-working, caring man who fought against the trauma of his past and won. Together they made a fabulous couple and their chemistry was off the charts.
Lots of fun banter and humorous scenes can be found in this story but there are some very poignant scenes too, some that bring tears to your eyes and one in particular that, although beautifully written was still very emotional. In this story the brothers are so much stronger and stand together more, their growth is great to see. I am really enjoying this new series immensely.

I can’t help but love those Valentine boys!!!!! Despite a horrific childhood, they grew up to be some of the sweetest, most loving Cowboys! They set my heart to pitter-pattering like crazy and I get all swoony! LLV has outdone herself with these guys!
Desi has had a life that would depress even the hardest heart. A neglectful childhood, a horrible marriage, and an ex that could annoy even the sweetest disposition make even her present just plain awful. But when a way to get back at her ex, turns into a meeting with a cowboy so hot he could set the world on fire, things start looking up!
Callum is working hard with his family to turn their legacy into a future. Its hot, tiring work, but he knows it will be worth it. He’s busy from dusk til dawn, but one glimpse of Desi has him wanting to make room for her in his life. Make her his entire life.
This book is absolutely a feel good story. Even with the drama from Desi’s ex (you know with LLV, there is going to be a crazy ex!) this entire story just has a happy feel to it. Both Callum and Desi are working hard, both together and on their own, to live their best life. It’s a beautiful story, that left a big ol’ smile on my face!
I am so loving this series. These Valentine’s boys are seriously Swoon-worthy!!
We met Desi and saw a glimpse at her connection to Callum in the first book in the series Herd That but now in this one it so hot!! These two are so perfect together and so sweet. He stands up for her with her a*hole ex but also gives her the strength to stand up for herself and fly.
Callum has replaced Ace as my favourite Valentine but after seeing more from Darby I have a feeling the younger Valentine is going to steal the show.
Well done LLV for bringing us these boys stories. I love this world you keep building on, I will never get enough of them.
I can’t wait to see what happens next in Chute Yeah
Oh man this book rooted its self in my heart. The way that Callum and all the Valentine boys made Desi feel amazing about herself when others put her down and make her question her self image, the closeness of family that they had, the heat level, the jerk of an ex that was put in his place….. it all worked for me. I loved the banter between the characters, the fast that they gave in to what they were feeling and not fighting it. All Lani’s books pull me in from the start and never seem to let me go until the end. When I start a new LLV book I always feel sad because I know it will eventually end, but I know that I’m going to get a well rounded beautiful book that won’t let me down and that’s what this book did. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen with Banks. 5 stars #2OCCJD

This is the second of the Valentine Boys’ series, and I would suggest reading this somewhere after the Original SWAT series but before the second gen one. Desi and Callum’s story is one that I’m sure loads of women can relate to. Desi is considered a BBW, this was the reason her husband, now ex, had cheated on her; and he never lets her forget that she is heavier now. Mal, her ex, is just a huge bully that gets off on making fun of her, especially in public. So far the only persons that have been in Desi’s corner were her bestie, Codie, and Mal’s own father. So when Callum steps up and defends Desi in one of those public humiliation scenes, she has no clue what to think. When Callum goes one step further and full out claims Desi as his own, she of course thinks that its just Callum helping her. What she doesn’t realize is that Callum is serious and once he claimed her, he isn’t going to let her go.
I have said it before and I will say it again; I love that LLV has this ability to have these play out like movies in my head. The feels you get; one second I was laughing my head off, and then I can be almost sobbing. LLV gives us real; real life, things that we can relate to and I think that’s what makes these books so good. I give this 5 stars.

The second of the Valentine brother’s books gives us Callum and Desi. We met Desi in book one as she is bestie to Codie; the main character in that book and lover of Ace, Callum’s brother. Desi is recently divorced but her ex won’t leave her alone, with he and his new fiancé constantly picking on her. On one such occasion, Callum just happens to be nearby and steps in, something that is definitely not appreciated by Desi’s ex, Mal. When Callum finds out Desi is trying to better herself while sticking it to Mal by way of competing in an upcoming race, Callum sees an opportunity to not only get to know Desi better, but the thought of annoying Mal just makes the whole thing extra appealing. Quickly enlisting the help of the whole Valentine gang, Callum and Desi start working together to get ready for the race, the fact they’re immensely attracted to each other having nothing to do with it… or does it?
Yet again, another fab story from LLV and I couldn’t put it down. I love this world, I love her writing and I can’t get enough of it all. I can’t wait for the next one and give Crazy Heifer 5 stars.
I love people that are different. Those that march to the beat of their own drummer. Lani Lynn does that on two accounts. First, her writing is sooo good and sooo not the norm. Her characters march to the beat of their own drummers as well.
I think I love Callum Valentine, actually, I know I do. First of all the way he stands up when someone is being fat-shamed by their ex just made me melt ( I am a full-figured woman and I own it). He’s a strong man, he’s a kind man, he’s a family man, but he’s also a broken man. Through all, he’s been through he still has compassion.
Desi! I just adore her and her quirkiness, her honesty and her growth. She doesn’t have much to pull from as far as bio family, but she has family none the less and they love her. All except for that one dude, you know . . . her ex. But he’s an idiot!
The pairing of Callum and Desi is just perfect casting. Their connection is felt from their first meeting and we continue to feel it grow throughout each page. He helps her builds her self confidence through unconditional love. She supports him, loves his big family and gives him her undying devotion.
When I read Lani’s books I feel as though I am sitting in my family room just having a conversation with everyone all at once. It’s organized chaos and I absolutely love it! Oh, these Valentine boys!
