Dylan Jamison, a.k.a. rock star Dylan Charles to his adoring fans, is in desperate need of some R and R. His best friend’s offer to join him in a new business venture while chilling out at the family farm sounds like just the distraction he needs. Even if it means spending time with his friend’s sister, whose heart he crushed when he walked away ten years before. Tessa Montenegro was in love with … in love with her brother’s best friend since she was nine years old. When he left to seek fame and fortune, she shelved her childhood fantasies and turned to a life of boring but predictable practicalities. When a family emergency draws her home, the discovery that she’ll be sharing quarters with the rock star, even if only for a week, is less than ideal. But she’s determined that no amount of late-night smooth talking or knee-buckling grins will soften her heart again.
Only the more time that Dylan spends with Tessa, the more he yearns for a life he once thought impossible. But he has a lot to prove if he has any hope of getting a second chance with the only woman to have his heart…

Lately I am really liking books that don’t have too much drama, anxiety or action. I like a well written love story. Something that could happen in real life, but ends happily. I think when life already has so much you can’t control it is nice for me to read books that are pretty cookie cutter. I really enjoyed this one. Ashlee is a good author and put together a good story with some good elements. Nothing too over the top or dragging. It would normally be something I would give 3 stars too but I really think for me right now books like this are just hitting the spot for me. These two have some awesome chemistry that you can feel. I love that they both saw there flaws and where they could both change. This is chaste with no religious context. There are a couple kisses.
I can’t believe I missed the second book in this series but I’m definitely pushing it up my TBR!
Dylan and Tessa have both returned home but after the last time they were both there, it doesn’t look like a happy reunion will be in the cards for them. But the more time they spend together and the more Tessa comes home from the city, the more it seems like they might be able to pick up where they left off. Friends with a potential for more.
I love second chances so I was super excited to read this story. There were definitely times that I wanted to shake these two, to yell at them to get it together. But that wasn’t how I felt most of the time, most of the time I loved them. I loved how they were with each other. I loved how easily they seemed to fit.
I can’t wait to read book 2 in this series and I hope to see more of these awesome characters!!

Oh, my, what can I say but that I loved this book. Full disclosure, I am NOT a fan of rock star or country music star books, so I was hesitant to read this one. Silly me, forgetting that this talented author was sure to prove me wrong, and she did. It’s really a story about second chances . Also know that it’s definitely a stand alone. I have not read the previous books in the series and had no problems with the story.
The story of Dylan Jamison/Charles and Tessa Montenegro is a touching story of two individuals who met when one was 9 and the other 12 , but the bond was immediate. He had lost his mom and was sent to live with an aunt . An aunt that worked in the vineyard owned by Tessa’s family. Dylan and Finn, one of her brothers, became instant friends. When he left from one day to another to seek fame, she was left heartbroken.
Fast forward 10 years and she’s now a lawyer and has taken leave of absence to help with her Dad. He’s broken his hip and needs help. Dylan needs a break and is also back , this time staying with her family. Both realizing that what they left was something they should have treasured.
The chemistry is still there and as the relationship blossoms , so do their issues as a couple. Suffice is to say it was an engaging plot , with complex characters . At times you’ll want to hug them at others shake them, while still falling in love with them and hoping they’ll get their HEA.
A book worth your time. I am looking forward to more stories by this talented author.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
