CRAZY FOR BABY by Jennifer Skully is book 7 in the Mystery of Love series. (Note: this is the first of a longer story, so it does not wrap up the romance though the novella is truly engaging.)
BeeBee Barton never considered being a mother until she meets Poppy. The baby girl steals her heart right along with her handsome father, Theo Swann. BeeBee is in love with both of them.
Theo has just been through a messy divorce, and the last thing he wants is another relationship, but he’ll do anything for the daughter he adores. When BeeBee tells Theo she wants to be Poppy’s mom, she proposes they get married and become a family.
Will Theo take the leap and risk his heart again?
I loved Theo & BeeBee’s story. This book has all the feels with great characters to make sure Theo & BeeBee get their HEA. All of our favorites from past books are here as well, but this book can totally be read as a stand alone. Hideaway Creek takes care of their own and Crazy For Baby is no exception. Both BeeBee and Theo have great friends & family they can turn to when the going gets tough. There are even a few surprises along the way. A great feel good story especially during these tough times.
BeeBee Barton is in love with Poppy and attracted to Poppy’s father, Theo Swann. Theo’s wife left him and they divorced, giving primary custody to Theo. Theo wasn’t even sure if he was Poppy’s biological father, but she was his daughter no matter what. BeeBee has wanted to have a child and when she gets up the courage to discuss her plans with Theo, what will his reaction be? BeeBee, a beautician, has decided to ask for chair space in the “Mane Man” barber shop (they don’t do women or children) so she no longer has to travel to her customers. Things are finally coming together for BeeBee, but what will she do if Theo’s ex-wife decides to return to town? Is it BeeBee’s turn for a happy ever after? A fun and entertaining romance with a lovely follow up to “One Crazy Fling.” I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)
Sometimes there are bumps in the road of love as Theo and BeeBee learn. Great story about to people finding love.
Lots of craziness this time around. BeeBee definitely has more grit than I because Theo (is crazy) got on my last nerve. Poppy is just adorable and I love the new revelation on Patsy (not crazy). I also love how BeeBee fit so well into the community, she really is a brave soul. Based on her career and love life decisions, I think she’s borderline desperate (crazy?) but I going to stick with “driven and determined” instead. Definitely crazy is the peppermint patty issue. 🙂 In the end, very heartfelt, entertaining with some yucky ex-drama to boot. I received a free copy without obligation and am voluntarily reviewing.
Has BeeBee made the right move? Sweet with some heat at the core
4-4.5stars
Mostly a sweet romance with lovely baby Poppy as the key element that gets the relationship between her father and the local beautician ratcheting up, and a villainous ex to put a spanner in the works. With a crew of quirky characters like Patsy, the baby whisperer; Lily, the animal whisperer; and a curmudgeonly barber, the overall feel is warm, small-town support and togetherness but the author inserts a number of heated scenes for the couple as well. If you’ve read earlier books in the series, many of the characters return for at least cameos appearances. For a newbie not familiar with the series, all of these characters could be a bit overwhelming. A brief introductory cast of characters as an intro would be helpful, even for readers like me who need a memory jog!
I was a bit unsatisfied with Amber the exes’ storyline and how it concluded but the surprise reappearance of a character from One Crazy Fling, the previous book in the series, bodes well for a new story that I think I will really like. And I loved the addition of Peppermint Patty, a new animal for Lily to assist.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review and the opinions expressed are my own.
It irked me that Theo’s family was so adamant about not giving Bee Bee a fair chance in the beginning. They were gun shy because of Amber the awful shrew, but that was unfair to Bee Bee and Theo. For as gruff and harsh as old Mr. Cuthbert was, he had a soft spot for Bee Bee and Poppy! Lol. I could shake Theo for his convoluted thinking of presenting Bee Bee as a nanny! Smh! I almost had a fit waiting for Theo to man up to Amber’s threats! The tease at the end about Julianne was ominous? Next book???
