Craven Manor is about Daniel, who is down on his luck, finding work wherever he can to pay the rent, then one day, he receives a strange job offer to be a groundskeeper, which he can’t turn down. When he first sees where he’ll be working, he’s uncomfortable, but bears through it, doing what he’s paid to do. That’s when the fun starts.
This book is filled with great visuals and storytelling. The characters are strong, while some are absolutely terrifying. There’s great build-up, and backstory to fill in the spaces of how things came to be. I whole heartedly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great horror story mixed with paranormal adventure. Great job Darcy, I enjoyed every word.
A little weird at the end. It had some good parts and some not so good parts. Some parts left me going , that was just strange and not in a good way.
I loved this book from page one

I loved this book from page one! In my opinion, the writing was good even though there were a few errors in the last quarter of the book (nothing too distracting). Her descriptions of the house, grounds, and gardener’s cottage made it easy for me to picture them. What a creepy place! And I don’t even want to get started on Kyle and his selfish behavior. I wanted to smack him and give him a piece of my mind! If I had a recommendation other than telling my friends to read this book, it would be to have someone get in charge of Hollywood and have them make a movie out of this! I would LOVE to see this on the silver screen! I absolutely loved this book and was sorry to see it end.
The entire time I was reading this book I wanted to know what happens next. I hated putting it down to do work. It held my interest until the very end.
WOW! Love her books and writing style, excellent reading on the dark side!
Good but the main character is too wimpy!
I loved fed it. I have a truly difficult time finding a book to hold my attention This book held my attention, the characters are entertaining and believable. Great read for a dark and stormy night.
I just finished reading this story and I liked it so I gave it five stars. I must say Daniel is an open minded person. While many would run for their lives from such a spooky place, he was accepting of the way things were. Aside from being a terrifying story, it’s also unbelievably light hearted in places, sad in others. Daniel is starved for a good friend that he can trust that won’t take advantage of him. He’s a lonely individual but so sweet and generous to those who’s lives are hard. Even though his own is hard. He finds friends in Bran and Annalise. They are the most unlikely people one could call true friends. The main reason for this I won’t mention, because that would be the ultimate spoiler. Sometimes one just stumbles onto lasting friendships by mere chance. I fully recommend this book as I know others will get the same enjoyment from reading it that I did.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was a perfect balance between slow build of tension and resolution, without getting overly bogged down. The main character was a bit “too-good-to-be-true”/naïve, but still fun to watch. I did not find the story particularly scary, if really at all, but I did enjoy the build-up to the action-packed climax. The ending was uncommon compared to others I’ve read in the genre (I don’t want to say exactly how it was for fear of constituting a spoiler). An easy, entertaining read. I would seek out this author again.
I wasn’t sure what was going on at Craven Manor, but finding out was delightful! Easy and fast read, which will keep you guessing!
One of the best books Ive read in months. I could not put it down, Finished it at dawn.
This was a great haunting story, without scaring the pants off me. I totally enjoyed the book and the twists I didn’t see coming. It was hard to stop reading to go to bed.
Really enjoyed this book, build up was great
Great book. I’m not much of a fan of gore and this had very little. Kind of an old fashioned ghost story. I highly recommend.
This was my first book by Darcy Coats, and I have to say I became a fan of her writing quite quickly. Darcy’s descriptions of what Craven Manor looked and felt like really helped to bring the story to life for me. It had a great sense of a haunted house, and the revelation of the occupant of the home was a great surprise. She had me guessing up to the end of how the story would conclude. It was great fun to read. I will be looking for more titles by this author.
Most of the story was interesting. Far too much sex for my tastes.
