Instant New York Times Bestselling Series An Amazon “Best YA Book of 2020” Glitter Magazine’s #1 Pick for “Best YA of 2020” Optioned for Film by Universal My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among gods…or monsters. I still can’t decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I … of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me.
Then there’s Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn’t felt anything for a hundred years. But there’s something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with what’s broken in me.
Which could spell death for us all.
Because Jaxon walled himself off for a reason. And now someone wants to wake a sleeping monster, and I’m wondering if I was brought here intentionally–as the bait.

The CRAVEing is real!
What a fun book! I listened to the audio and was thoroughly entertained. Bonus Alaska! When I bought this, I had no idea it was a paranormal academy set in the Far North. That was the carrot on the snowman… oh, and the cheesy jokes between Grace and Jaxon via text. Hilarious!
+=
My favorite: What do you get when you cross a snowman with a vampire? Answer: Frostbite. Oh, yeah, I dig it.
That ending was hella scary! Way to go out with a roar. I’m already ankle deep in book 2.
I thoroughly enjoyed the world-building in this book. Loved the twists.
An interesting new twist on a vampire-centric PNR novel. To me, it evoked similar feelings as Twilight with some plot twists that I didn’t see coming. I felt entirely engaged throughout the narrative arc and thought that the chemistry between Jaxon and Grace was super hot. The ending is a bit of a cliff hanger, but hopefully the payoff in book two will be worth it.
Grace is the new girl at the private academy located in the remote lands of Alaska. As soon as she enters the school, she can tell something is off. She isn’t sure why but she feels like it’s just wrong…
While waiting for her uncle, who is also the headmaster, she is greeted with an extremely unwelcome and hostile interaction. What is with this guy and why does it sound like he’s threatening her?
As the days progress, Grace is sure something weird is going on and she is determined to find out what…
I saw this on Instagram by an account I follow and based off how that reader loved this series, and how we seem to enjoy the same type of books, I snagged the first 3 books. I am so glad I did.
I haven’t read any vampire-based series outside of Twilight and I adored that series BUT THIS! This!!! This is like that but 1,000x infinity better. It’s seriously just that good!
I absolutely LOVE the fact that it’s set in my state. That it’s in a freaking castle! AND full of monsters, sinister games, secrets, nerdy humor (that is SO ME) and of course…young love (swoon )
I am smacking my forehead for waiting so long to actually dive in and read this one, which I finished in one day. That’s saying a lot because this is a BIG book…thank goodness for bookish friends and buddy reads
If the first book is this good, I can only imagine and barely contain my excitement for the next ones. Good thing I already have the next 2 and pre-ordered the 4th.
Ethereal and imaginative, the brothers were both super-swoon-worthy and I was addicted quickly to the seemingly “normal” girl stuck in the midst of danger, magic, paranormal beings of all kinds, with twists and turns that kept me turning pages!!
My New Favorite Vampire Series
I never read twilight back when it was popular, but I’ve seen the movies. I also really like legacies, the vampire diaries, the originals.
Definitely good if you’re a fan of the heroine falling for someone labelled as the bad guy, but who acts like a total protective teddy bear when it comes to her… That’s my weakness!
The end of This Book honestly just had me so puzzled! What a cliffhanger! I bought book two so fast!
One of the things I had a problem with was exactly how long this girl was not picking up on the fact that she was in a supernatural School, and that the guys and girls around her were supernatural beings. This girl seems so bright! And honestly the excuses she would make for the students’ crazy behavior, eccentricities, or oddities were just getting more and more far-fetched, until finally the truth was out! And then the story moved a little bit quicker plot wise.
Definitely some swoonworthy moments with her and the other main characters! I really ship them! Overall I really like this book, I’m going to recommend it to everyone.
As an audiobook… The narration was great and is was easy to tell the difference between the characters, allowing each characters their own voice for their personalities to shine through. And the pacing was perfect!
Thank you Entangled and MBC for a complimentary copy. I voluntarily reviewed this book. All opinions expressed are my own. CRAVE By: Tracy Wolff REVIEW Honestly, I am not a big fan of vampires, so I put off reading this book for a while. I wish I had read it sooner! I might be slightly obsessed with the series now. The world of Grace and Jaxon is unique, confounding and endlessly entertaining. I think every character surprised me at some point, and I was not able to predict anything accurately. I mean this in a positive way! If you want vampires that are not reminiscent of the Cullen clan, CRAVE is a book you should pick up. Action, obsession, off the rails fun, hot guys, girls with fragile strength and caboodles of conflict-this story has it all!
AMAZING
I was entertained. This is like Harry Potter meets Twilight. Not fantastic, but still a good diversion from life.
However, I’m scared to read book two. I’m scared the author is totally going to ruin book one by introducing another love interest.
I HATE that. HATE it.
It’s like either tricking readers or the author decided while writing book two to do something else than where book one was leading.
Crossing my fingers.
Do we really need another teen angsty love story about a brooding vampire?? YES, YES WE DO!!!
Grace’s parents are killed in a car accident and with no other family in San Diego she decides to move to the fancy boarding school in nowhere Alaska where her uncle is the headmaster. She expected the frigid temperatures and even the adjustment period but what she did not expect was the school is in an actual CASTLE!! Within mere hours of arriving she has quickly concluded that no one wants her there especially the dark, mysterious and seriously sexy Jaxson Vega.
Jaxson is the most popular guy in school, and everyone stays out of his way because while not only is he seriously intimating he is seriously dangerous. When the new girl Grace shows up at the school, he is taken with her instantly and after a couple encounters, he quickly learns that the human girl is not so easily frightened. As their friendships grows and a few near-death experiences later Jaxson is determined to keep her safe even though he knows the best way to keep her safe is to get her to leave Alaska immediately.
As you get into this story you will either love it or you will hate it. The plot was super entertaining between Jaxson and Grace’s banter and with Jaxson’s friends and Grace. It was almost “instalove” which can be a problem for some, but I don’t mind it because that is part of fairytales and storytelling. Just like in life sometimes people fall harder than others and that is OK!! This was a very 2005-2015 supernatural story so if Vampire Academy, Twilight, Marked or any of those other series didn’t do it for you I seriously doubt this one will. There was not one part of this story I did not LOVE!!
Crave is one of those books that always takes me back to when I first discovered teen paranormal romances and I will forever be here for it!! When I saw the cover of this book, I was immediately getting Twilight vibes. The covers are remarkably similar and when I read the blurb saying “A vampire with deadly secrets…” I was done but then I had a conversation with myself about not judging books by their cover yada yada yada. Basically, after my inner monologue had a fight with my brain or however that works, so I bought it (clearly) and it is PERFECTION!!!
Last bit, this was my first Tracy Wolff novel and if her other books are this good then she is going to become one of my favorite authors EASY! Five glorious stars for Jaxson and Grace. Cannot wait for Crush, book two in the Crave series coming September 2020!!
So I was told this series is like Twilight only better. Grace is the new girl at an Alaskan private school. Jaxon Vega is the hot popular jock. It took long enough for Grace to find out the secret of the private school. I like most the characters, especially Grace and Jaxon. OMG that ending. I know that i must now listen to the next 2 books and wait for the 4th. Now there’s a 5th, WTF. i’m horrible at waiting, no patience at all. I highly recommend this book but I feel I’m one of the last to read/listen to it.
Wow this book was a total surprise to me. I have seen it many times but the ratings where very mixed so I was not going to pick it up. But a friend I trust told me I would like it and I should read it, so I did.
And yes, I did like it .. a lot. A lot more than I thought, even though there were some elements that I normally do not like.
Did it remind me of Twilight? Yes, a little but it also had enough of its own to be pretty different from Twilight. Also thought it was better than Twilight.
Everyone who knows me or my taste in books, knows I’m not a insta-love fan so we had that, a little bit of a love triangle – but not really (if you read the book, it makes sense lol) , also angsty teens. All those things are normally things I shy away from we had in this book but I can’t say I hated it. Actually, quieted enjoyed it.
I lLOVED the writing; I loved the suspense and it kept me engaged and guessing to the end. .. Some things were pretty predictable but we also had some pretty big twists and turns.
The end!!!! OMG!!! I had so many guesses but that was not even on the list of things I thought of …. We get a lot of actions throughout. I can’t wait to learn more about the races and their lore… So far, I enjoyed the way the vampires, wolves and dragons are in this series. I love to see more of all of them but most of all the witches.
After that ending I also have so many much more questions and can’t wait to find out more.
The one thing that bothered me a bit was her “family” it seemed like they only there to give her a reason to be at the school. Her Uncle was not very engaged for being her guardian unless she was injured. It just seemed a bit odd, and sometimes made no sense considering the things that are happening to her around her. But I hope that will be resolved next book.
Over all I enjoyed it but I don’t think I can give it higher than 3.5, just because there are the elements I dislike and the family thing. But the last 150 some pages were insane and the shocking cliffhanger made sure I will read book two. And most likely pretty soon.
So, this will sit at a 3.5 , But I have a feeling book two will be even higher
When Grace’s parents die in a tragic accident, there is only one place left for her to go. From sunny California, Grace is sent to her uncle’s boarding school in frigid Alaska. But it isn’t just any boarding school, all manner of supernatural creatures attend and Grace joins in the middle of a power struggle. Vampire Jaxon Vega has taken an interest in Grace, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. Will Grace be another pawn in a deadly game, or are his feelings for her real?
While Grace could be an entertaining character to follow at times, she was extremely naive. While I understand the naivety was intended, I was also confused by it. Why would the book blurb talk about vampires if it wasn’t mentioned until halfway past the book? At a certain point, Grace rationalizing away all the strange occurrences around her grew repetitive. It also slowed down the plot progression.
Tracy Wolff spent a long time word building. The setting wasn’t all that different from the real world, so I am not sure why all the build-up. Yes, there was magic, monsters, and the politics surrounding them but aside from that, the school wasn’t all that different. Gothic castle aside, I didn’t think the beginning needed to be so drawn out. And I had a hard time believing Grace’s uncle would drop her in the middle of monsters, and not warn her. Especially after all the incidents that surrounded her started cropping up.
I can see the attraction of this book. Jaxon Vega hits all the right buttons. He is dark, brooding, and mysterious. He is the bad boy someone can pine after and still have gentle qualities that make a heart swoon. The tensions between Grace and Jaxon were tantalizing, but it came too late in the story. Not a series I will be continuing.
Not sure what I think about this book. I read through it in two sittings so it definitely caught my attention. It also seems like the love child of Twilight and Vampire Academy.
I’ll probably read book 2. I feel like I have to because of the weird way book 1 ended. Really weird. Almost too weird for me. Not a fan.
On another note, I don’t do instant love. This whole book takes place over about 7 days and Grace and Jaxon have this EPIC love. . It’s very fast. Not a fan. I’m also not a fan of the repetition in the author’s writing. Grace’s mouth went dry as a desert a lot, for example. She’d have paragraphs with the same thoughts over and over. She repeated herself so much. Sorry, couldn’t help doing it too. Also, the book was in present tense. That seemed weird and I’m not too fond of that.
However, I was genuinely surprised by several things in the book so, to me at least, it wasn’t predictable. And also, Macy is a great character and I love her.
i loved the book its a paranormal romance where the main character, Grace, her parents die and she moves to a school that her uncle runs where she rooms with her bestfriend/ cousin Macey its a roller coaster of emotion and action. Jaxon is the love interest a vampire with deadly secrets and is a ” bad boy ” i loved this book so much but i do have to warn you about the other books there are 4 of them, warning: dont fall too hard for Jaxon or else the books later on are going to be upsetting. i know this from personal experience.
4.5 stars (I wish we had half stars)
First things first: it’s unfortunate that this book set itself up to be so closely compared to “Twilight”. If you were really into “Twilight”, it’s impossible not to see the similarities. Between the book cover, the vampires at war with other creatures, an ostensible love triangle, and the Alaska setting, it was hard for me (and a lot of other reviewers, evidently) to read this book without my brain making comparisons.
But if I take “Twilight” out of it and look at this book on its own merit, I thought it had a lot of unique things going for it. Boarding schools (and the remote wilderness) are really intriguing settings. There were a lot of mythical creatures and a pretty complex world. And–I can’t say this loudly enough–the heroine was a lot more interesting than Bella Swan.
You will like this book if you are ready to commit to a slow-burn series that, due to a lot of richness and complexity in the world, will take time to unfold.
Great book!!
I really enjoyed this one. The chapter names are everything! I really liked how the author described the characters. I definitely have heart eyes for Jaxson. I’m super excited to see where the story goes in Crush! I would definitely recommend.
I love to be yanked into the pages of a book, where I start reading and look up two to ten hours later, disoriented from my deep-dive into a fictional world. I was sucked into Crave from the start and didn’t want it to end. Now, I’m ready book #2 in the series, Crush, and am thrilled to be back at Katmere Academy! I particularly love how long these books are and how much time I get to spend with these characters!
I loved this!! I devoured it and was left wanting book two NOW!! I loved watching Grace & Jaxon’s relationship grow!! *Sigh*
