It all started when I fell in love with my best friend.Grant is the one person who ever really understood me. He supports me. Comforts me. Encourages me. He cares for me. I don’t know what I’d do without his friendship. I can’t imagine a world without him.The way I see it, I have three options:Option #1: Tell Grant how I feel and find out he feels the same. The best-case, most wondrous scenario.… same. The best-case, most wondrous scenario.
Option #2: Don’t tell Grant and continue desperately pining after him in silence. Not as great a scenario.
Option #3: Tell Grant I love him and risk ruining everything when he says he doesn’t love me back. The worst-case scenario. My nightmare scenario.
But keeping my feelings a secret is slowly killing me. Every minute I spend with him is both torture and bliss.
Do I risk it? Stay silent? Take a chance? Play it safe?
Can I possibly risk watching my entire world crash and burn around me?
Crash and Burn is the 3rd book in the Sin and Tonic series, but can be read as a standalone. It is a slow burn, friends-to-lovers New Adult Romance.

3 ½ STARS! Book three in the Sin and Tonic series. Can be read and enjoyed as stand-alone. Full length with HEA. Being told in only the female POV had it feeling like too much of the book is in her head. There was a lot of longing and OW drama, I prefer books where there is more romance. I loved how supportive of Grant Liz was, she was a perfect friend!
A Fabulous Read from Athena Wright
This is another really good book and is a great addition to the series. I really enjoyed reading “Crash and Burn” from Athena Wright. It is a really well written book with a great, interesting, intriguing storyline and the engaging characters have great chemistry and interaction that pulled me into their story. This is an Entertaining, Must Read Romance that I really loved reading from beginning to end
This is a slow burn read that the plot is set around friends to lover.
Strong plot and the characters have chemistry between them.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Lordy, Athena just draws you in and doesn’t let go until the last page! I’ve been waiting for Liz and Grant to get their turn and I was NOT disappointed. This one has a bit more angst but a great storyline and characters. Liz and Grant have spent years dancing around one another. Everyone else can see their intense attraction but them. Liz impressed me by growing a backbone and realizing she needed to make herself happy. Grant screws up big time and I wasn’t sure he was going to make it out of the hole he buried himself in. Make sure you have time because you won’t be able to put this one down.
Highly recommended author
Love the connection between Grant and Liz. Love how they support each other. I like how Grant had to grovel and prove his love to Liz.
This is a story of unrequited love, or maybe it’s just unknown love. It’s as a old as time. What do you do when you’re in love with your best friend? Do you risk it? Do you take the chance and hope. Or do you stay silent? When do you start believing in yourself and do your parents really know best for your life? Is it alright not to know where your life is headed? Or does life really happen while you’re busy making other plans? These are some of the issues facing Liz and Grant in this lovely story. There’s a lot to be dealt with but you need to discover it for yourself. I don’t do spoilers.
It’s a fast read that will bring you smiles, tears and hope.

Is love really enough
Liz and Grant have known each other for years while working at the bar, Sin and Tonic. While they’ve become best friends, Liz has also fallen in love with Grant. It’s reached a point where she has to decide if she can continue to keep it to herself or risk their friendship by telling him how she feels.
For the most part I enjoyed Liz and Grant’s interactions with each other. He was sweet and mostly supportive and she was the same. However once their relationship finally picked up, they were thrown a curveball from Grant’s past. I was a bit disappointed at the path the story went down at that point. While I can understand Liz’s ability to forgive and accept Grant’s behavior, I personally would have had a very hard time with trusting him again. So while I enjoyed this third story in the Sin and tonic series, it was not my favorite.
I received an ARC of this book and am leaving an honest review.
Wow. What an amazing story. Loved the drama and secrets. Characters were well written and exciting. Enjoyed the back and forth banter. Grabbed my attention from the first page to the last. Five amazing stars.
A friends to lovers romance. Faced with an impossible decision to make, Liz has three options: 1. tell him that she loves him and hopes that he feels the same, 2. don’t tell him and continue to love him from afar, or 3. tell him and he brushes her off. The heart pounds when trying to work the angles and come up with the option that she believes will be the future happiness she seeks. Love a story that is a slower burn telling with a more realistic set of circumstances.
A friends to lovers romance.
Grant and Lizzy’s story will have you captivated from the start, I Loved it.
Athena’s words kept me entertained throughout, as Grant and Lizzy push the boundaries of their friendship to maybe something more. They clearly have feelings for one another but are those deeper emotions worth risking their friendship?
They had Beautiful chemistry between them and their story is full of Drama, angst and heartfelt moments, some Surprises too.
I really enjoyed reading this one its a great read and an excellent addition to this series I highly recommend it.
A great page turner! Although I would call this a slow burn (because it’s a friends to lovers story), it keeps your attention from beginning to end! Liza & Grant’s story is chock full of drama, suspense and great chemistry. I received this book at no cost in exchange for my honest review.
Grant and Liz show us best case scenario when best friends toy with the idea and eventually decide YES, we can cross that line and safely preserve what we have built but also SO MUCH MORE! They truly ‘get’ each other, and that sets the foundation of their relationship at a much deeper level. I loved Liz and her artistic brain, and the chemistry between her and Grant was great. I feel like the author took us through so many emotions! In the end you can’t help but to smile for these two!
I was pulled into this one from the start and ended up finishing reading this one in 2 days. Once I started, I just couldn’t stop. The events in this book are so real life and easy to relate to. You can just fell the anxiety and uncertainty plaguing Lizzy. Wanting to provide you can handle your own life and make wise choices and so afraid to show and discuss your failures. I definitely felt many emotions while reading this book! I truly recommend you read this one.
A beautifully captivating friends to lovers romance. It was definitely fun journey to go on with Grant and Liz. Athena Wright never disappoints. The only sad thing about this book is that it ended. I wanted more. Can’t wait to see what comes next from Ms. Wright.
Lis is working at a bar with her best friend Grant. He is always supporting. He has a photographer and she wants to be a fashion designer. They have been interested in each other for years and finally they end up together. But then A girl from Grant’s past shows up, a girl that can ruin everything. I loved this book. So sweet and romantic but also sad. It just had it all and I loved it
5++ stars
Who says a guy and a girl can’t be best of friends and maintain that relationship.
A definite must read. A book well written with a friendship meant for so much but with a tragic end but a resurrection that doesn’t come easily.
Grant and Liz worked at a run down bar that they loved working at. They both had great work ethics. Soon they find out that the owner is selling it but they won’t be losing their jobs. Which they are thrilled about. A paycheck and tips coming in. Renovations and a manger at the Sin and Tonic bar, the clientele increases.
Grant and Liz are best friends and do a lot of things together, know a lot about their individual lives and go out for a late night brunch at a nearby diner. They have fun in their friendship. But as things sometimes happen one or both grow feelings greater than a friendship. Neither one of them want to risk that meaningful friendship so the subject is never broached or lines crossed. They suffer in silence.
Grant is also a photographer besides a really great bartender. His goal is to have his work displayed some day at a gallery. Liz loves to make her own clothing. She sews outfits but does a lot of repurposing clothes that she goes hunting for at bargain stores that carry clothes. Then she makes her alterations to what she pictures in her mind. Very talented. Plus she loves her job at the bar, bartending at times but getting customers their drinks.
Unfortunately for her, her parents want her to go back to school and become a paralegal like her mother or an accountant like her father. Both ideas that she hates.
So much happens with the friends ship between Grant and Liz. You love the characters as well as the other characters introduced into the story line.
You’ll enjoy the characters, laugh, get exasperated and cry. Well done Athena Wright. I love and recommend your book to readers.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This book is an enjoyable, friends-to-lovers romance that is sure to draw you in from the first page and keep you thoroughly entertained until the very end. This past week has been rather trying and this author’s engaging, slow burn romance was exactly what I needed to life my spirits.
Grant and Liz both work at the bar Sin & Tonic and are best friends, but they also dance around that thin line of being more. Blessed with an artistic soul, I love Liz’s vibrant personality and creative flare. She is a fabulous heroine that I found to be very relatable and as such, I absolutely loved her character. In love with her best friend and coworker, she struggles with the age old question of “should she risk it all” by telling him? Grant is not only handsome, he is also genuine, supportive, and thoughtful. He made some mistakes that brought tears to my eyes, but he is still the kind of man I’d love to snag for a boyfriend. These two together are like magic with an amazing connection that is full of sparks but also involves a deep understanding of each other.
This author has an amazing ability to craft a story that will capture your attention from the get go. Her characters are likable, well developed and relatable and the storyline is always interesting. I love how each book has a powerful underlying message and this book is no different. This slow burn, friends-to-lovers romance has a solid storyline complete with a smattering of drama and angst and a whole lot of swoon worthy and kindle melting moments. Essentially, this is a book that is sure to pull anyone out of a funk and you won’t want to miss out!
Crash and Burn is book 3 in this author’s Sin and Tonic series, but it can be read as a standalone. The previous two books are spectacular so you may what to check them out as well! 4.5 / 5 stars
I received a free copy of this book.
This is very much a slow-burn friends to lovers story until basically Liz’s whole world falls apart at once. Palpable heartache when it comes to Grant and her work. I really felt the losses she did. I think this is my favorite Athena Wright story to date!
3 1/2*
Grant & Liz have been best friends for years working close together at the bar.
Both are attracted to each other both not sure what to do take the risk or remain friends.
He’s a photographer in his spare time hoping, she’s a fashion designer despite family pressure.
I really felt for Liz during this book her dreams so real it had you seriously wanting everything for her.
A good story
