Sometimes you have to play dirty. So they say.RachelPlaying dirty takes on a new meaning when I fall in the mud in front of way too hot Remy Martin and catch him staring at me. Hard. No matter how hot his kisses are, I don’t need a man. Much less a hotshot firefighter to rescue me. But Remy’s got that whole tall, dark & protective thing going strong. So strong, I can’t resist. I’ve got a … strong.
So strong, I can’t resist.
I’ve got a messy past. The last thing I need is to fall for someone. Certainly not Remy who makes me want to break every rule I wrote for myself.
I never thought a man who calls me sweetheart might be enough to hold my heart hostage. But then, I wasn’t prepared for Remy.
Remy
Rachel Garrett is strong, smart & feisty. She’s also got a stay-away-from-me vibe for the ages.
I’ve got more than enough reasons to avoid romance, but I never could resist a challenge. Rachel doesn’t need me. Or so I think.
The closer I get, the more I want her. The second I see past the surface to the vulnerability underneath, well, that’s it. I don’t care if Rachel doesn’t need me. I need her.
*This is a full-length, standalone romance with a guaranteed HEA.

Rachel is struggling to move on from an abusive ex, when she finds Remy. He stirs up feelings she didn’t think she would ever have again. Now, her ex is out of jail and causing problems, even with a restraining order. Remy wants to protect her, like he does with his sister Shay, who suffered at the hands of an ex too. He feels possessive and protective over her and wants to help ease her fears. He needs to balance his fear for her safety and his need for her to protect herself. This was a steamy, sweet story, with panty melting attraction. So sad this seems to be the last book in this series! Check them out today!
JH has done it again with the 10th book in this series. Every book is amazing. Remy is a total hottie and hello, a sexy firefighter at that. I loved this story and all the characters. Another great one to add to the collection.
I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
Rachel literally ran in to Remy. He helped her to her car. He definitely wanted to see her again. Rachel’s last boyfriend made her learly but she couldn’t get him out of her mind. Remy realized he needed to continue at Rachel’s speed. But she was worth it.
This book was smoldering. Who doesn’t love a gentleman with a southern twang. I really enjoyed the characters – they were so much fun and the chemistry was sizzling.
Another fantastic book by J.H. Croix. Rachel is a medical assistant with Willow Brook Family Medicine. Rachel is finally getting her life together after being involved in an abusive relationship and is shocked to find out that her abusive ex is out of jail and back in Willow Brook. Remy is a new hotshot firefighter. Remy has closed off his feelings since his parents died. Remy is helping his sister recover from an abusive relationship. Remy and Rachel are attracted to each other and find they enjoy spending time together. The chemistry between Remy and Rachel is fast, explosive, and HOT! Rachel begins to question how fast her relationship with Remy is moving and starts to pull back. Remy knows Rachel is skittish but vows not to let her go. Can Remy and Rachel help each other break their walls down? Can Remy help Rachel realize she is stronger than she thinks? Will Rachel finally get over her fear and stand up to her abusive ex? Can Rachel and Remy find their happily ever after? Crash & Burn by J.H. Croix is a great book with lots of humor, emotion, passion, and steam. I would highly recommend getting Crash & Burn and all the other books in the Into The Fire Series. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.
CRASH AND BURN is a standalone read with a HEA. It is set in Willow Brook, Alaska and focuses on the hot-shot firefighters and their love interest. The police and the fire and rescue are housed in the same building and are all a very close knit family. Remy is new to Alaska, he recently lost both his parents to an accident and he still feels the pain of that loss. He has one sister that was almost killed by an abusive boy friend. He went to prison and she is rebuilding her life. She lives in S.C.
Rachael is a hometown girl. She is single and works in the medical field. She was put in the hospital by an abusive boy friend. The whole town knows what happen and help her put him away and get her life back. She was very embarrassed by the whole episode and blames herself for not seeing the guy for what he was before he put her in the hospital. She is friends with all the guys in the station and they look out for her.
She and Remy get together and they almost explode off the pages of the book. It is a very SEXY read with a small bit of colorful language – if that is a problem for you. I found the book to be very entertaining and interesting. Dealing with abuse is a big problem and this story sheds a little light on it. I would definitely recommend it. Remy as the hero comes right off the pages. He is handsome, bigger than life and a really nice guy. You can’t help but fall for him right along with Rachael. Henry made a good hero as well.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 3/14/19
WOW!! What a hot and fantastic story!!! I love this well written story with a great plot. Remy and Rachel are dynamite!! The sparks are off the charts between these two. There are twists, turns, ups and downs throughout this story. This is absolutely my favorite story in the “Into The Fire” series! The story is fast paced and action packed. LOVED IT!
I love this series! And Remy is definitely a great addition to the hotshot firefighters!! Built and Southern!! Doesn’t get much better than that. Rachel is getting over an abusive relationship and has sworn off men but Remy restores her faith in men and their romance is quite HOT!!

Crash & Burn: Into The Fire Series Book 10 is a sizzling muddy love story. When Rachel falls in the mud on the hiking trail and Remy the southern hotshot gentleman is there to be her knight. Love Remy! He is such a knight and protector when he finds out that Rachel has a abusive ex-boyfriend but also has experience dealing with men abusing women. I love the heart of Remy and the emotional independence Rachel gains throughout the story. This is a wonderful love story between Rachel and Remy! I throughly enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend reading it

I loved Rachel and Remy’s story!! Remy has been in Willowbrook about a year as a Hot Shot. He loved his job and his new town, making hiding from the pain in his past easier. Rachel is a hometown girl with baggage of her own. She has gotten out of an abusive relationship and her life is starting to look up. She has been lusting after Remy for a while and when he stops to help her fix her flat, she can’t help her growing feelings. Remy has wanted Rachel for a while, but he is afraid to open up to someone. They begin a slow, but steamy relationship and when Rachel’s ex come back into town he realizes that he needs to protect her and he can’t seem to stay away. I love their story of how they find their way through the past, the town gossip, the danger and the growing feelings….I just loved it!!
Rachel lives in Alaska and takes her dog Henry for runs. She works at Willow Brook Family Medicine as a medical assistant. She went through a lot with her ex and still doubts herself when it comes to guys. Remy move to Willow Brook from North Carolina. He is a hotshot firefighter and loves his job. HIs parents were killed in a tornado while on vacation. He only has his sister Shay left and they talk every few days. This was well written and has fantastic characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. The storyline grabs ahold of you from the very beginning and doesn’t let go until the end. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Wow! What a wonderful read with relatable characters and a fast-paced, beautifully written story that I just couldn’t put down from the very beginning and didn’t want it to end when I got to the last page. I fell in love with hotshot firefighter Remy Martin, a charming Southern gentleman and his attraction, sizzling chemistry, emotional and steamy romance with strong, smart and feisty Rachel Garrett, medical assistant at Willow Brook Family Medicine. This is a must-read for fans of well-crafted emotional, steamy and swoony contemporary romance.
I received an advance reader copy of Crash and Burn from Booksprout and this is my voluntary review. I enjoyed it so much, I purchased a copy for my keeper library.
Crash and Burn is such a swoon worthy read! Remy is every thing you could want in a southern gentleman firefighter, he had my kindle smoking! I loved Remy’s character. Remy and Racheals story is a must. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc.
Such a sweet and tender romance!
Remy is so sweet and knows exactly what Rachel needs. He knows just how to make her feel safe, even before he knows about her history. This was a terrific love story about two people who are exactly right for each other from the very beginning. I appreciated the fact that Rachel’s empowerment came from within, rather than being dependent on outside events. It’s a wonderful ending for the Willow Brook crew, with a nice and simple introduction to the next series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This is one HOT Series…
Crash & Burn, Into The Fire Series, by author J.H. Croix Just remains one of the best romance series out today. Set in Alaska it is about men from the Hot Shots fire rescue and the local women they fall in love with.
This storyline follows Hot Shot Remy and Medical Assistant Rachel. Remy is originally from the south so has that southern drawl. He is kind and sexy and head over heals for Rachel but has a sister back home who he worries about. Rachel is dealing with the trauma of her not so nice ex still hanging around the area. Will these two come together to work out their issues or handle their issues alone which may endanger one.
Definitely recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and pleasure. There will be another book in the series too!
I am leaving this review for your consideration. Peace.
What a wonderful love story! Remy is a firefighter who is still mourning the loss of his parents. He’s also a Southern gentleman complete with a swoon-worthy drawl. Rachel is a medical assistant at the local hospital. She was recently in an abusive relationship and is trying to get over her fear and live again.
Rachel and Remy’s chemistry was explosive from the start and continued to burn the pages up through the end. Remy was exactly what Rachel needed to feel loved and protected and Rachel was exactly what Remy needed to push past his grief.
The heroine and a side character were both in abusive relationships, but Ms. Croix describes the situations with great respect and not explicit detail. I wanted to hug both characters and tell them how amazing and strong they were.
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.
ONE HOT AND STEAMY READ!!!
Wow! Talk about a little steam. This is one exciting, action packed, fast paced, nerve racking, hard hitting, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping, heart pounding, page turning thrill ride thats as captivating as it is riveting from start to finish. All the twists and turns, ups and downs, ins and outs, along with a few bumps and dips make for one incredible experience. With all the drama, fear, heartache, you feel everything the characters feels. The suspense and danger rise as the tension spirals between high action events that has your complete focus on the pages as well as a razors edge. The characters are written with such realism it’s easy to relate and become part of the tale instead of on the sidelines watching. The scenes are so graphically detailed it’s easy to picture each scenario as it plays off one another perfectly. Croix did a beautiful job keep the suspense and danger riding high throughout the entire read. Fantastic job Croix, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.
Loved this book! Remy is sexy and sweet. Losing his parents and having his sister so far away was hard on him but he made tons of new friends and seemed to fit into his hotshot crew really good. Rachel got herself out of a bad abusive relationship and swore off men! Until she runs into Remy. These two have a powerful connection and amazing chemistry. I love reading this series. Love the catch up of the other couples and seeing them all have a happily ever after. I am really looking forward to reading more of Remy’s sister, Shay.
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Crash & Burn .
Simple put I loved reading this story it’s fantastic . In fact the entire series is fantastic . This is Remy and Rachel’s story and it’s romantic and hot and steamy .
The characters both returning and this one
are interesting and oh so loveable . I highly recommend this story .
Rachel Garrett took off running after her dog, Henry, both of them covered in mud from the puddles they ran through. Henry seemed to think this was a wonderful game and outran her all the way down the trail! Rounding a corner, though, she ran right into Remy Martin, bounced off, and landed in a huge mud puddle. Being a gentleman through and through, Remy helped her up; and being a man, he also took a close look at her attractive posterior! She was horrified to have him see her like this. When she started to walk back to her car, she felt the pain from the rock she landed on – so Prince Charming walked her back to the car. Sigh….
Remy had moved to Willow Brook about a year ago. Because of a painful relationship, he had no intention of getting involved with anyone again who might break his heart. It just wasn’t worth it. But he’s a real Southern gentleman and Rachel appreciates the way he treats her. He can understand, better than she thinks, what she has gone through.
Rachel also has a past that makes her swear off of men. In her case, her ex was abusive and she had him arrested. She didn’t intend to fall for Remy, she wasn’t looking for a man, but he’s so nice to be around and he keeps showing up in her life. She is afraid to open up and risk that kind of betrayal though. Can Remy prove he is reliable? Will she see that he is not the type to ever hurt her, physically or emotionally?
This is an enjoyable, well-written series introducing new characters among ones the reader already knows. The story line is great, and the main characters are trustworthy and likable. Will they really know they can each trust the other? Will they give their relationship a chance? Grab your copy and see how they sort things out.
