From USA Today Bestselling Author comes The Devil’s Highwaymen Nomads: sexy, hot-headed bikers with eyes for only one woman I found my deliverance in the form of a bottle of whiskey and a woman named Hope.Hope was the opposite of everything I stood for and believed in; she was innocent and pure and beautiful in a way that was soul deep, yet I couldn’t help falling for her. We only had one … her. We only had one night—just mere moments in a lifetime really, but it was enough to change me forever.
Maria tasted like venom and looked like sin. She was beautiful and poisonous. She was dangerous—way more than I knew at the time, and she never pretended to be anything but my worst nightmare.
I never stood a chance.
Whiskey was bad for me, but in the end, Maria was probably worse.
I was young, too young to have seen the things I had. On the run from my past. Chasing my nightmares away with sex and booze and praying to any god that might be listening to finish me off sooner rather than later.
The day our worlds collided was the day that everything came apart. Our lives were set on a path that none of us could change.
Maria was my Demon.
And whiskey was my escape.
But Hope? She was my redemption

An epic start to this intense biker series.
I love the ride or die series by claire and this is a spin off and did not disappoint, you dont have to read ride or die first but i advise it because its an amazing series and some characters make an appearance in this.
Love crank he’s intense, strong and has had a tough childhood, he’s brought in to the MC and there he learns what family, loyalty and love truly is.
The secondary character’s so good i cant wait to read more about them.
What’s not to love about Crank? He may have been dealt a crap hand at life, but the moment his life changed forever, he will never forget. Crank’s story is so heartbreaking, and sad. He is so vulnerable and lost. All he needed was Hope. Crank was lost in life, and the Highwaymen taught him how to save himself. I can not wait to read the rest of the Nomads series. Claire can play with my emotions like this any day of the week!
*WARNING* contains explicit adult sexual situations and violence
This was not at all what I expected. This isn’t really about an MC or MC life. This seems to be mostly about the life of Dillon. This book tells how Dillon came to know, Bull, how he got his respect, how he got patched in, and how he got the road name of Crank. It tells a little of MC life, but only what pertains to or involves Crank. There is no HEA for your favorite couple. This story was okay, but I would have liked to know more about some of the other things going on. It’s definitely different from most MC books i’ve read.
Crank is the book I chose to pop my MC cherry, it was a shorter read but I enjoyed it. Crank isn’t a typical romance story, more the idea of a love interest, it’s the story of the Hero’s character development that is the focus of this book.
Dillon is the Hero of the novel a young guy lost, and running from his demons, trying to quiet his thoughts with Whiskey and not one to shy away from trouble. When one night his anger gets him tangled up with Bull and his MC The Devils Highwaymen, Dillon is given the opportunity to show his interest/loyalty to the cause and fight to become a club prospect. Dillon faces the challenge head on for a chance to find a sense of belonging, a family of sorts and this is what he gains.
As Dillon learns the way of the brotherhood and his role in it he drinks, he is promiscuous and he fights and one night he meets Hope. A seemingly sweet and kind spirited girl, Dillon almost instantly feels a draw to her, a spark of connection he has never felt before. What follows after their first encounter is a series of regrets, bad choices and heartache that extends way beyond Hope and Dillon.
By the time Dillon earns his right to receive his club name ‘Crank’ the storyline justifies the title. However Dillon is a changed man and has come to a decision that sets up the series for the following books.
I enjoyed Crank, it was unexpected, sombre and tortured. Claire’s writing flowed well, her characters were all established and distinguishable leaving me wanting to get to know them more. She writes a male point of view commendably and I like that the story didn’t play out in the typical romance formula, I don’t need a HEA to enjoy a book. The only thing missing for me was a little more depth/detail to the back story of Dillon and perhaps his clubs Chapter. I don’t think Crank’s story is finished and I am sure there will be more to come as the books go along. I claim this a successful introduction into the MC genre for this Bookworm!
So this was my first book from Claire after hearing a lot about this book I decided to give it a go and it didn’t disappoint, my heart breaks for crank just as you think there may be a little light shining into his dark hard life it’s stripped away in such a devastating and cruel way my heart ached so much….can’t wait to get stuck into the next book and see what else these biker boys have in store for me
3.5 stars for this quick read that I did enjoy. It’s not your typical romance story and the book had all the goings on that you expect from your typical MC read. I enjoyed getting to know Crank and discovering his history which led him to become a prospect at the club. I’ll definitely be reading the other brothers stories in the future.
Wow dillons story was heartbreaking and intense and I loved it.
It’s a first read of cee cee’s but it definitely won’t be the last, I couldn’t put this book down, I had to know what path his life took, I can’t wait for more
Crank is book 1 in Claire C. Riley new MC series called The Devil’s Highwaymen Nomads. If you read and liked her first series The Devil’s Highway MC, then you would love this new story. This’ s a spin-off series featuring the Devil’s Highwaymen Nomads and including cameos from some of your favorite Highwaymen. In book one Cee Cee take us in an emotional journey to know Dillon ‘Crank’. The plot is a little dark and fast pace, great characters and not your normal biker romance. No Spoilers!!
I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC gifted to me by the author with no obligation. It’s a must read MC series that I highly recommend. Already desperate for book two!!!!!
