Cozy Minimalist Home goes beyond pretty and sets up your home for true connection and rest without using more resources, money, and stuff than needed. After reading Myquillyn Smith’s first book, The Nesting Place, women everywhere were convinced that it doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful and they found real contentment in their homes. But how does a content imperfectionist make actual … actual design decisions?
Cozy Minimalist Home is the answer to that question. Written for the hands-on woman who’d rather move her own furniture than hire a designer, this is the guidance she needs to finish every room of her house one purposeful design decision at a time. With people, priorities, and purpose in mind, anyone can create a warm, inviting, cozy, and beautiful home that transcends the trends.
You’ll have the tools to transform your home starting with what you already have, and using just enough of the right furniture and décor to create a home you’re proud of in a way that honors your personal priorities, budget, and style. In Cozy Minimalist Home, Myquillyn Smith helps you:
- Realize your role as the curator of your home who makes smart, style-impacting design choices
- Finally know what to focus on, and what not to worry about when it comes to your home
- Discover the real secret to finding your unique style–it has nothing to do with those style quizzes
- Understand how to find a sofa you won’t hate tomorrow
- Deconstruct each room and then re-create it step by step with a fail proof process
- Create a pretty home with more style and less stuff–resulting in backwards decluttering!
- Finish your home and have it looking the way you’ve always hoped so you can use it the way you’ve always dreamed
Cozy Minimalism isn’t about going without or achieving a particular new, modern style. Nope. It’s simply a mindset that helps you get whatever style YOU LOVE with the fewest possible items.

Great read from front to back!!
I love the combo of cozy AND minimalist. I’ve always gone for cozy, but wouldn’t have considered minimalism (too sparse!). There CAN be a happy medium. Her curtain tip has changed our whole house!!
I’m recommending Cozy Minimalist Home to all my friends and will probably find myself gifting it to a few friends. I’ve even passed my copy to my mom. Don’t worry, though, it’s just to borrow. I’ll be referencing it again as I move to “comi” other rooms in my house.
Cozy Minimalist Home is a game changer when it comes to how I view, decorate, and live in my home. I’ve often been drawn to the simplicity of minimalism, but don’t see myself decorating with with cold neutrals from Ikea. The Nester gave me freedom to embrace minimalism and my own style. She helped me remember that it doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. Smith gave me a guide to give my home beautiful style that matches my decorating personality. And, it’s all been within our budget.
Total game changer!
If you have tried to get your house in order by the traditional tried and true (for some people) method of ‘decluttering’ but then stalled out with the overwhelm of it all…then you need to read this book!
Instead of decluttering, begin the process of quieting…room-by-room. That word whispers peace and calm! Quieting.
Myquillin Smith takes you step-by-step in the cozy minimalist method of making purposeful design decisions for your home…room by room..making room for more style with less stuff.
This is a beautiful book. A book that you will love to have sitting out in a place of prominence. A book that you will want to refer to again and again after you’ve walked through the process of creating a beautiful, simple, cozy home that serves both you and your family.
I have always wanted my home to be a safe haven for my own family as well as others that we have invited into our home. Whether it is for an evening of fellowship, or an extended stay I want others to experience a sense of contentment and joy when they are visiting our home. This book is a tool to create the nurturing environment that I believe we all long for in our homes. I highly recommend it!
I was disappointed that the book did not share more “tips” or ideas about how to accomplish the Cozy Minimalist look. I like her approach, but she never gets past talking about herself. I ordered this online, so I did not get a chance to see it and note that it is a really just a blog with no decorating details.
