MATTHEW AND WILMA Mason, a married couple from San Francisco on a driving tour of southwest national parks, are found shot to death in the remote and rugged backcountry of southeast Utah. A revolver clutched in Matthew’s hand suggests a murder-suicide, but Deputy Sheriff Manny Rivera thinks otherwise. In his mind, there are too many unanswered questions. Why had the Masons, at age 68, detoured … from the planned vacation route shown on their map? Why had they left the comfort of paved roads for rough, gravel back roads that led to nowhere in particular? Why had they driven to the place where they were found, next to an abandoned grass airstrip? And most peculiar of all, why were they dressed like hippies from the 1960s?

Enjoy all of Rich Curtin’s work
Great book great series!
A surprise ending that is not predictable, but is believable if you read carefully and take in the clues. A good story about a couple who are where they shouldn’t be, dressed like they wouldn’t normally be dressed, and end up the way they shouldn’t have.
A good story without unnecessary profanity or vulgar language. Nice read.
You can’t go wrong with a Manny Rivera mystery.
Rich Curtin’s writing gets better and better. His characters are well developed.
Loved the storyline. Kept me guessing until the end. This whole manny series was great reading
I enjoyed it. It covered some of the Indian Reservation & culture that I know nothing about. It was a good learning tool for what I believe to be true.
Yet another good read in the Manny Rivera series. Will Manny find happiness is a question that is asked throughout the series and you will receive a partial answer near the end of this book. I enjoy Manny’s process in working through his crimes and his problems. He manages to avoid falling down the hole of self-pity. His friendships and his ability to help others make these books doubly worthwhile.
Interesting characters and quite a twist at the end.
Coyote’s Regret by Rich Curtin was the best western mystery I’ve ever read. An older couple, dressed as hippies, are found shot to death in the high desert, away from everywhere. Detective Manny Rivera is called in to solve the murder case. A tightly woven intricate plot weaves its way through the story. Terrific characters. Beautiful scenery. I loved it. I will be reading more Manny Rivera.
loved all the descriptive background.
I like this series about a detective in the southwest.
Great lead character – Manny
Coyote’s Regret was a good story that moved along at a pretty good pace.
This book kept me guessing until the very end. Great writing.
I’ll always enjoy this series simply because of the settings, but the story is fun too.
Made me try to solve along with investigator. Logical in the end but nut a direct solve.
