Our hero made a promise and promptly forgot it when he hit the big time. Is it too late to win back our heroine?
This time our Flirt Club theme is cowboys. This is part of a themed series by well established authors. Each story is a standalone, sharing only the theme (and setting in this case), so you can read one or more of them as the fancy strikes you. No prior reading required.
This is a short story about second chances. The story is very well written with a straightforward and easy to follow plot. We also get two well developed characters that fit well into our story and setting. They have real chemistry, as well as real issues, providing a pleasant evening read which is easy to read and over all too soon. And it all wraps up with a nice HEA. Overall, a very pleasant evening read.
Highly recommended.

A Promise broken, but for how long
Cowboy’s Promise is the story of Cass and Hank. They both were born and grew up in Paulson, MO and were high school sweethearts. He had a dream to become a top bull rider on the rodeo circuit and she supported his dream. At last years Cherry Festival and Rodeo Hank won the bull riding event and garnered a lot of attention. So much so that he was able to go on the rodeo circuit and have sponsors. Before he left, supposedly for only 7 weeks, he gave Cass a family heirloom pearl ring and a promise that he would return and give her a diamond. Unfortunately he got swept up in the whole “show” and had not come back. So Cass was left alone as he did not call, email or text he and she saw him on the internet and in stories and pictures at events with other woman surrounding him. What is a girl to think except that the promise was broken. However, Hank comes back to Paulson just before the next Cherry Festival as a broken man, physically and also with his future. Will the promise be kept or will it stay broken when they see each other, after all you can’t avoid each other for long in a town of less than 5,000.
This story had a good premise but for me it did not hit the mark. It was sort of stilted and without the flourish. I think it might be because it is so short. The last couple of chapters were just rushed to get to the end when I think a another several pages could have added more depth to the characters of Hank and Cass and the aftermath when he comes back to Paulson. With that being said I did enjoy reading Cowboy’s Promise I like Fiona Starr’s stories.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
This didn’t do it for me. I usually really enjoy this author but I didn’t like these characters. Hank was a jerk who only wanted her when his life fell apart and Cass was weak. Not in the least bit romantic.

An amazing second chance romance that is well written, emotionally deep, consistent, flows smoothly, and will draw you in from the first page. The characters are likeable; the chemistry is intense and off the charts. Definitely recommended!

Hank leaves his hometown for his bull riding career. But before he left he promised his girlfriend that he would be back for her in a few weeks. However when all of Cassie’s calls and texts go unanswered she knows that she has to move on. Hank comes back to their hometown after he gets an injury and thinks he can reconnect with Cassie. But Cassie isn’t having it and goes to return the promise ring he had given her before he left. Hank finally convinces her to listen to him and give him another chance. Yet Cassie wonders if he wasn’t injured if he still want to be with her. Can Hank show her that he has changed? Will she give him another chance?
This is a great story once I started it I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

This was a nice quick read. I liked that Hank wasn’t chasing tail while he was away but I didn’t like that he ignored Cass while he was gone. He didn’t come home till he was hurt, if he wasn’t hurt would he have ever gone home or contacted her? But I’m glad he saw the light.
Hank heads out to fulfill his dream of a spot on the pro rodeo circuit and leaves his girl Cass behind. Over a year later and he’s back home with an injury and wants Cass back, but after not hearing from him for over a year will she take him back? This is a short second chance love story with a great HEA! Flirt Club is back with sexy Cowboys and I can’t wait to read the rest of the Big Sky series!
This was cute and short.
Honestly, Hank got really REALLY lucky with Cass. I wouldnt have been as forgiving.
He must have been something special though because the ending was super sweet.
Happy reading!

This is Hank Blaze and Cass Wyatt’s story. he has qualified for the pro rodeo circuit but that means leaving behind the woman he loves but he promises her he will be back and always thinking of her. What he didn’t expect is that all his time would be taken up by the circuit and he never got time to contact her Now he is back with an injury but he is also at square one with Cass she believes his lack of communication shows lack of commitment Will he be able to convince her he still loves her and will she forgive her silly cowboy for his crazy ways. You will have to read to see
Part of the A Big Sky Short Story series a quick fast short story to read.Hank Blaze will have a lot to make right if he wants Cass Wyatt back in his life. A good story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
It’s hard to do much with a novella. This is one I would have liked as a whole novel. I love reading about cowboys. I probably wouldn’t have been as forgiving to Hank as Cass was, but then it wouldn’t have had a HEA.
I love a short book with a happy ending and that was what I was looking forward to reading the Cowboy’s Promise. Before leaving to continue bull riding at a higher level Hank promises his girl Cass that they are forever, and he gives her his grandma’s pearl promise ring. I really felt for Cass being almost cast aside for over a year, and then still having the strength to see past the hurt & make moves that are going to make her happy now and in the future. This book was a short and sweet story of how it’s the struggle of broken promises & considering second chances!
Cass just found out that Hank is coming home. He left over a year ago for his bull riding career and promised to come back to her! Only after never hearing from him again she finally figured out that they were done! Hank ends up getting hurt during a ride and ends up home again, he realizes what a terrible mistake he made letting Cass go! Can he prove to her that he loves her and will never let her go again?

I loved Henry and Cass! I love that we see another male Blaze and this time he had to be the one to do some groveling. I’m so glad they made it work and the epilogue just left me with a big ole smile.

Plain & simply put, I loved this book!
This author really knows how to write. All the emotions flood the pages & as a reader, I got caught up & couldn’t let go!
The characters, Hank & Cass were extremely likeable & their love so very sweet. There are a few “awww” moments that take the breath away!
Well done Fiona. I look forward to more from you in the future!
First of all then this story is a short story and I felt that something was missing from the story. It is very short, concise, and to the point, so much so that I felt parts of the story were missing. It is even more difficult to write short stories, I think, than regular length as there is absolutely no room for error in the way that everything has to be there to make the story a story. Here unfortunately it is not quite all here. Despite the storyline being quite fine given how short it is, there is still something missing from it that would make it whole and perfect. It is almost there and one can feel it while reading the story that it is not by much but … so therefore three stars for this otherwise fun story.

Cowboy’s Promise by Fiona Starr a five-star read that will whisper promises in your ear. Eight seconds that will change your life, eight seconds that will change you from a small-town boy, to a big star cowboy, at least that’s what Hank Blaze is promised, and for a while it works. But is being a big star cowboy all you want when it means leaving your heart behind. When you get broken you need to start over, Cass is cleaver enough that she knows you don’t look back to the past but forward to the future, she is a Rockstar in my eyes. This was a fast paced and sweet and spicy read, you need in your life.
