I really enjoy reading books written by author Michelle Beattie because they are always strong in character and she did not disappoint me at all with these two. I love how both Cam and Kara were both strong in their own right. Kara is a runaway bride and she stows away in Cam’s trailer, hitching a ride, begs for 2 weeks of time on the ranch to “find herself”. Well, two weeks is all it takes it seems. Fate knows what to know and where to lead ya it seems. Welcome to Last Stand, Texas…
I liked this series so much I have now read it twice.
This was a hard book to put down, loved both of the characters. Kara, is a runaway bride that has always done what her parents want but she finally decided she could not marry the guy that her parents picked out. All she wanted was two weeks to figure things out. Her heart has always been living on a ranch. Cam, is a hot cowboy doing the rodeo circuit and not looking for his forever until he finds Kara is his trailer.
Both characters are very strong in what they want in life. Loved their banter. Great chemistry between them. This is the third book in the series but can be read as a stand alone. A thread of mystery runs through out the stories. A well written story that I highly recommend.
‘Cowboy Wild‘ is the third story in the ‘Tangled Up in Texas‘ series set in Last Stand, Texas. This time around one brother is going to get the surprise of his life when he does the unexpected and offers sanctuary to a runaway bride – and perhaps finds love for himself along the way.
I adored Kara and was so angry on her behalf toward her parents. I get that they were grieving their son’s death, but to force their daughter to basically replace him in the company… and in marrying a man she doesn’t love within that company is just so wrong on so many levels. No, I had nothing but contempt and anger for Kara’s parents.
Cam surprises himself and his family when he brings Kara home to the ranch for some time to reflect, enjoy the ranching life, and make her future plans beyond the reach of her manipulative parents. He didn’t expect to fall in love with her, not with all the other things going on in his life right now – but when it’s right you just know it.
There are potholes on the road to a happy ending for Cam and Kara, yet the journey to get to that point was completely enjoyable. One full of laughter, angst, tears, anger, confusion, and resolution. Watching these two people fall in love was pure joy. I had such fun with ‘Cowboy Wild‘ and can’t wait for the next story. If you love a really good love story with a backdrop of runaway brides and ranching life then you’d enjoy this one.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from Tule Publishing. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
Talk about a meet-cute. I absolutely adore how Kara and Cam meet. Especially the way Cam is very aware of how he could be coming across as a threat to Kara even though, technically, she’s doing something wrong. It made me fall in love with Cam on the spot.
Although Kara allowed herself to be manipulated into doing what others thought best for her instead of following her own dreams, she has a great backbone once she decides enough is enough. The girl has a lot of grit. Not that she doesn’t drop back into her old behavior here and there. And, at times, she goes a bit beyond what is needed when sticking up for herself. There’s a learning curve to it all, that’s for sure. But she has the stick-to-it-iveness needed to turn her life around.
Cam has his own family issues to deal with. This story, like all in the series so far, has its own ending. But the larger story of this family and these brothers that runs through this series still has a lot to work out. Cam has started to gain the respect he deserves from some of his brothers, but there’s still a long road to go with the family overall. Cam found a way to deal with his grief over their mother dying that is different than the rest and it confuses them. By the end of this book, they’re at least starting to understand him much better.
Since Kara has no preconceived idea of who Cam is on the inside and he has no grand plan as to how Kara’s life goes, they are able to connect on a level they’ve never experienced before. Of course, life happens and outside sources butt into this ideal situation. Yet setting the foundation of their relationship before family is brought into the mix helps them to wade through the issues that are thrown their way together. At least, for the most part.
It’s great to watch these two grow as individuals and learn to trust themselves as well as each other. I’m looking forward to the next installment of this series. Not only for the next brother in line to find his HEA, but to learn more about the patriarch of the family. There’s a whole underlying mystery to these stories that the author doesn’t overwhelm the reader with, but gives nuggets along the way to keep the reader on the hook.

I absolutely loved this book and it kept me engaged to the very end It flowed well and the characters felt alive
Kara has had enough yes her brother was killed while in the military but now her parents are trying to control every aspect of her life so she can replace him They made her change her major so she could run the family business but the final straw is when they try to make her marry a man she doesn’t love because he will be good for the business. She has had enough so she makes a run for it in her wedding dress. She heads to a rodeo near by and leaves her wedding dress in a cowboy’s trailer. When she returns later to pick up her things she meets Cam the owner of said trailer they talk and she tells him she just wants to escape he offers to take her to his family ranch something his family are stunned by after all he is usually a love em and leave em type As the attraction between them grows they give in to their attraction but can two people with so much baggage actually let their walls down enough to maybe have a future together You will have to read to see
I received this arc from Tule Publishing in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book. This series is terrific. I enjoy the sons and their significant others and their interactions. This book is Cam’s story. He is a rodeo star who helps on his family’s ranch between rodeos. He also works with his horses and their training.
Kara Montgomery is supposed to get married to an associate from work that is hand picked by her dad. She realizes in the brides room before her wedding that she can’t marry the man. She tells her mother who says she must go through with it. Kara’s brother died in the service and he was to take over her dad’s accounting firm. Instead, she was forced into changing her major and taking her brother’s place. As she didn’t want to further upset her parents she was forced to change her major and business direction and now marry someone who would be good for the business. Kara has had enough and takes off, finding a cab. She decides she wants to go to a rodeo so he takes her to Mesquite.
Kara stashes her wedding dress and clothes the cab driver took her to buy in a cowboy’s trailer and goes to watch the rodeo. After it’s over she goes back to retrieve her things and figure out what to do next. She had put her things in Cam’s trailer. When both return they are surprised to see the other. They talk and she admits she wants to experience life on a ranch. He offers her a ride and a place to stay on his family’s ranch in Last Stand. She agrees and they head off.
Cam fills Kara in on this brothers and their girlfriends that are on the ranch too. They arrive late at night and she takes his room alone. His family is very surprised to see her as he doesn’t bring women home. He’s more of a guy having one night stands. His past has been such that his mother left him through death and his dad through pain over losing his wife. He and his brothers aren’t close as a result of this. As a result he’s wary of any relationships. He and Kara work together on the ranch and she is even enjoying the chores. In spite of just leaving her fiancé at the alter, she is pulled towards Cam. After a few days they give in and have sex. Both realize they are interested in the other but their pasts cause problems for them.
I love Cam and Kara together. They seem to click and actually get each other. Cam is still dealing with his father being in the coma, the mysterious woman who brought him to the hospital and the interactions with his brothers. Kara is coming to grips with her realization that her parents were having her live her brother’s life and she was going along without calling them out on it. There is a lot of angst and realization of love in the book. It is a wonderful addition to the series. I look forward to the next installment.
Runaway Bride winds up at the rodeo pretty much sums up the beginning of Cowboy Wild by Michelle Beattie. This contemporary romance has a good girl, now a woman taking a stand on what she wants and needs in life. From the description it is clear for Kara Montgomery that it is now or never for her.
Fortunately for her, Cam Granger is one of the good guys. She could have run into real trouble with the chances that she takes as she runs. From here the story progress as Kara finds her way and makes decisions concerning life and love. I liked these characters even if I did think Kara was foolish in going home with Cam. Last Stand, Texas is full of good people who help to make this an enjoyable story of city girl running to rodeo finding country boy.
An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Once in awhile a book finds its way right into your heart, this is one of them.
I was given an advance copy of this book in exchange for my review. This is book three in the Tangled Up in Texas series, it has great characters and it was nice catching up with the characters from the earlier books. I enjoyed reading Kara and Cam’s romantic love story from their first meeting in passing which was very flirtatious till the romance was in full bloom. Although I must admit I had some angst filled moments when I didn’t think they would make it their story warmed my heart. Another of Michelle ‘s five star reads that I highly recommend you don’t miss.
I received this book from BOOK BUB and TULE PUBLISHING for an honest review.
Kara Montgomery is not feeling right on the day of her wedding. She has been doing everything for her parents since her older brother was killed years ago in service. She changed her major in college for one, there have been other things but today marrying someone who she does not love because it looks right, no she is tired and done. She does the only rational thing she can do she leaves. The ride in the cab leaves her at the rodeo which she has been wanting to take in for some time.
Once the rodeo is over, she heads for the trailer which she left her dress at. It is there that Cam Granger finds her in his horse trailer. Cam a tie-down roper and winner for the day is putting away one horse when he spots a woman and then is interrupted by another cowboy. He let him use the other horse he brought since that cowboy’s horse had a leg issue.
Seeing that he would do something like that Kara accepts a ride from Cam and eventually ends up at his family ranch. He explains the family dynamics. The longer she stays with them the closer the two of them become. She also begins to get attached to the family but also knows she must deal with her own parents. His question is will she come back to the ranch or will she stay in the city? What will happen when she confronts her parents? These and other questions will be answered when you read the book. One that is good and has very characters with some funny scenes as well as serious. A very good book. I received this book from TULE PUBLISHING I gave it 5 stars. Kara Montgomery is a runaway bride. She ran out on her impending wedding with only minutes to spare. Having no plan, she talks a taxi driver into driving her a few hours away to a rodeo. Despite having grown up in Texas and lived there all her life, she has never been to one. Kara has never really stood up for herself and always has bowed down to her parents but she has finally rached her breaking point.
Cam Granger is a roper on the rodeo circuit and has encountered many things so far in his life. But a stowaway in his horse trailer in a large poofy wedding dress is not something he has ever encountered. But once he talks to her, he agrees to give her a ride to Last Stand and a sanctuary. A place to hide and experience life.
Kara and Cam slowly get to know each other and fall in love with each other without even realizing it. But Cam is dealing with a family mystery related to his dad’s mysterious coma so has some trust issues. And Kara has to realize that she does have the inner ability to stand up to her parents and make them realize that she is the one who has to live her life. Not the life they imagined for her nor the fact that she is not her brother who died in the line of duty and that they will have to learn to handle their grief.
But like any good romance, there are trials and misunderstandings between these two during their short brief time together before reality intrudes. It was a great read seeing these two navigate their misunderstandings and learning to trust.
This is also a great story about learning to trust yourself and how to stand up for yourself. And to believe in yourself.
I am anxious to read the remaining two books left in this series. Each book can be read independently but they are all tied together with the mystery of their father and the mysterious young woman who brings him to the hospital ER. I am enjoying that this series will be a 5 book series since the brothers are all each unique in their own way.
I did receive a copy of this novel in advance from the publisher in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.
A whirlwind chance meeting of a runaway bride and established bachelor leads to sizzling romance and major decisions that will change their lives forever.

I recently took a journey to Last Stand, Texas via Michelle Beattie’s upcoming story, Cowboy Wild. Cowboy Wild is the third book in the author’s Tangled Up in Texas series. Kara Montgomery is very beautiful, very intelligent, and very successful. So why is she so very unhappy? So unhappy that she runs away from her fiancé, and her family on the day she was suppose to marry. By chance, luck, or fate she meets Cam Granger, the handsome, hard-working rodeo champion. Oh yes… Cam is also hot! Kara longs for the love, and sense of accomplishment that she always recognized on her grandparents’ ranch. The same ranch that her domineering father detests. Kara’s older brother died a war hero, and his death tragically marred her parents, and their expectations of her.
Cam’s reputation is as a strong rodeo cowboy, a great horse trainer, and the Granger son who never takes life seriously. His life is filled with rodeos, women, and fun times. It’s all a façade… to hide his deep pain. The pain of a deceased mother, a despondent father, and his judgmental brothers. Will Kara and Cam realize they both need more than a roll in the hay? Will their lives, currently at a crossroads, be forever linked… linked by a true love?
Cowboy Wild is an awesome story. The characters, primary and secondary, are incredibly realistic. The story line is captivating… irresistible. I was reading at 3am… I couldn’t put the book down! This book is a great romance, but it’s also a mystery, on multiple levels. What’s going to happen with Kara and Cam? Cam and his brothers? Kara and her parents? There is also an underlying mystery throughout the series that must be answered. I normally live in Marietta, MT… but I’ll be taking a sabbatical to Last Stand… for the remaining stories of this well written and constructed series.

In the full-length mirror in front of them, her mother’s face glowed. “You look beautiful, Kara. A true princess.”
Despite the bejeweled bodice and wide tulle skirt of her ball gown, Kara didn’t feel like a princess. Neither did she feel beautiful. She just felt sick.
“Mom—”“Now don’t you worry, honey. It’s natural to be nervous on your wedding day.”
Cam leaned forward in the saddle, stroked his hand down the neck of his horse. “Ready, darlin’?”
The arena was packed, as he’d come to expect from the Championship Rodeo but, for Cam, his attention was all on his animal and the job they had to do. The spectators that filled the seats to capacity ceased to matter. The buzz of their conversations became nothing but dull background noise. The smells of sweat, hide, and dirt disappeared as his senses and attention zeroed in on his task.
He was the last tie-down roper of that championship afternoon so he knew the time he had to beat. Six point seven seconds.
