What a beautiful story this turned out to be. Jennifer Cozel has gone through a lot of things in her life a abusive father who became an alcoholic after his wife died and beat her. When he died she carried on as good as she could then she met sheriff Rone Jennings who also carries a lot of pain. I enjoyed seeing this story come together and them get a darling daughter Rayne and a couple of surprises along the way. This is a new Author to me. After an abusive childhood Jennifer meets Rone and starts to hope.
Jennifer Cozel had only known abuse until at eighteen when her father was killed in an accident and she was free. She had struggled to learn all she needed and gain and keep her independence. Eleven years later she has her own home and works at the local diner but has yet to trust herself in a romantic relationship then she meets Sheriff Rone Jennings and finds it hard to resist the pull he has on her. Rone had worked as a US Marshal for most of his life but had burnt out and returned home to become the Sheriff. He sees a beautiful woman standing by her car then later finds out she is the waitress at the diner his father had spoken about.

Jennifer grew up with an abusive father. The kind of abuse that can scar you for life. When she was finally free, she took the only job she could as a small-town waitress. Then she meets the sheriff. His daddy told her he wanted her for him, but she never dreamed Rone Jennings would look or act like he does. He’s like the prince she dreamed about when she was a little girl. That doesn’t really happen for women like her, right? Can this beautiful man love her the way she’s always dreamed? She’s going to ride this as long as he’ll let her. For Rone, he never thought he’d be in love, get married or have kids. Now this beautiful, scarred woman has captured his wounded heart.

This was a very emotional book to read the emotional toll that Jennifer’s father had on her and how she had to be strong to become a better person. Rone has been hurt but someone he trusted and has to learn to forgive himself to become a better person.
