I’ve mentioned before that I have mixed results with this author’s work. Mostly, I love her writing and her stories draw me in. In my opinion, she has her characters talk to themselves (or their dead relatives) a bit too much. In some stories it’s charming, in some it borders on annoying. For the most part, even if it’s not dripping off the pages in every story, the chemistry is always there. That alone makes her books worth reading.
Levi, with his kind heart and knack with animals, is beyond adorable when it comes to Claire and her niece Zaylie. Having many young nieces myself, I could totally hear and see Zaylie in my mind. Ms. Brown wrote her with such love and fun. Of course, I could also understand Claire’s initial reactions to Levi and her determination to keep her eye on him.
I’ve learned that I really love a snowed in story…especially when the people trapped aren’t actually in any real danger. This was the perfect snowed in story to me since it starts off with a very narrow world for the characters, being stuck in a small one room cabin. But expands to them still being somewhat trapped, but on the larger ranch so there is more freedom of movement. It gave Claire a chance to see Levi interact with others and see how beautiful a soul he has.
This is a wonderful Christmas story. It has joy and sorrow and love. Lots and lots of love. Romantic love, familial love, friendly love. All the love you need.

Claire was lucky to find shelter in a cabin after she crashed her car in a blizzard. She was so glad to find a place to keep her 4-year-old-niece safe from the storm. But she pulled out her gun when a big cowboy walked in the cabin. She couldn’t let him see how scared she was.
When Levi needed shelter from the storm, he ran right into the cabin, shocked to find two people already there. He would never turn anybody away in that weather. But regardless of their situation, Levi always picked up strays whether animal or human. That’s how he looked at this pair. As strays he wanted to help. He offered them a place to stay at the ranch where he worked. Claire fit in perfectly at Longhorn Canyon Ranch. She helped the other women and became fast friends with Retta.
This was a captivating, enjoyable novel with wonderful characters. Claire was a strong, loveable woman who you will want to cheer for and strangle both at the same time. Levi is a hardworking, handsome, man you will want to root for and roll your eyes at when he thinks he doesn’t have anything to offer a woman. Money isn’t everything! And little Zaylie couldn’t have been cuter. I loved her graces. They were important to a 4-year-old but hilarious to adults.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Cowboy Honor. It is another awesome work by Carolyn Brown leaving you satisfied yet wanting more.
Loved it!
A women with sass, a gun and a sassy nieces to boot and a hot cowboy comes to the rescue what more could you ask for and what could go wrong. This story was a super fun read. I loved how the way the author wrote the story made the way that things played out was very organic and not rushed. I loved that she took two really strong willed and people and let things just play out the way they lie. I really enjoyed Zaylie she really brought so much to this story and you find yourself laughing a lot. This story does have adult situations but over all I could not see any piece of this story missing everything just seem to work and seemed to fit. I have not read the first book in the series but I am so going to grab it I can’t wait to see where the author takes the characters in the next book. I would totally recommend this book it was so fun and one of the sweetest loves stories.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion
I absolutely loved this book. The story flowed seamlessly. The characters were amazing. Levi and Claire were the main couple but, all of the characters played an integral part of the storyline. I was drawn in by the endearing characters and the storyline. The story was open, honest and welcoming, it felt like home. There were also many pets in this book. A cat, three kittens, a dog, a mule and a newborn calf. Everything was interwoven seamlessly to make this a solid five star read. I would definitely recommend this wonderful book.
A truly heartwarming western romance about a man and woman who will find true love in the midst of a Texas snow storm. Claire Mason is trying to make it home to Oklahoma, with her adorable niece Zaylie, when her car runs off the road during a snow storm. They are in luck that there is an abandoned cabin nearby and make use of the cabin to keep from freezing. Levi Jackson, foreman for the Longhorn Canyon Ranch, arrives at the cabin only to be confronted by Claire who is holding a gun pointed directly at him. Once Levi explains who he is, he finds himself taking care of them until he can get them safely to the ranch. Since her car is totaled, Claire and Zaylie will move to the ranch until the storm lets up. There is romance and humor as Claire and Levi tiptoe around their emotions, but Levi knows that he is falling in love with Claire. I had not read the first book in the series about Cade and Retta, but plan to now. This is the type of book that makes you “sigh” and feel good when you get to the end. I look forward to reading the next book in the series – Justin’s story. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to give an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
Levi, escaping a blizzard, decides to stake it out in the old hunting cabin on the ranch, but when he opens the door he’s greeted by a gun toting woman. Claire and her niece Zaylie were took shelter against the snow storm in a vacant cabin, being a single woman traveling with her young niece and coming from a military family she knew how to protect her own, especially as the locked door opens. Claire has been running her life as well as her family’s for a long time, she’s independent and sassy, a Levi has a big heart and loves collecting strays, a recipe for sparks and butting heads! This read has it all, fun, humor, feels and plenty of spice. Get ready for Zaylie to take over the book in a way only a four year old going on sixty can! She’ll wrap you around her little finger as easily as she did the rest of the characters in book!
We can always count on Carolyn Brown for a long, lean cowboy and a good ol’ Texas blizzard. Digging into one of her books is like snuggling up in my favorite blanket in front of a cozy, crackling fire while that blizzard rages outside. The rest of the world falls away while the warmth and contentment settles in deep. Her books carry the message of faith, healing and hope, and her casual, comfortable style captivates the reader from beginning to end with a story of home and hearth and cowboy code, and love for family, friends and that special someone.
In this second book of the Longhorn Canyon series, we get Levi and Claire’s story. When they first meet, Levi finds himself at the wrong end of Claire’s pistol. After his four wheeler runs out of gas and a blizzard blows in he decides to hole up in the ranch’s hunting cabin, finding it already occupied with a stranded Claire and her niece Zaylie. But with a brother in the military who taught her how to take care of herself, Claire isn’t in any hurry to trust the handsome cowboy.
Brown’s books are always great fun to read, and this was no exception. I love the sense of family and community with the ranch family and neighbors, and Levi was a wonderful hero. No arrogance or ego with him, just down-to-earth cowboy charm and a heart as big as Texas. He definitely met his match in sassy, independent, capable Claire, and four-year-old Zaylie stole everyone’s heart. If you’re not a fan of the cowboy trope, this is the one author who has the talent to win you over. With light-hearted humor, sweet, tender moments, and a heartwarming, uplifting story, Cowboy Honor is a definite winner.
Leave it to Carolyn Brown to start a love story with a scene of the heroine in the story, Claire Mason pulling a gun on the hero, Levi Jackson with that lethal red laser dot dead steady on the left side of Levi’s chest. To be fair though Levi had just unlocked and walked into the cabin on Longhorn Canyon Ranch where Claire and her niece Zaylie had taken refuse after Claire’s car spun out of control and hit into a tree nearby during a blizzard and Claire certainly wasn’t expecting a visitor. But then again Levi had every right to take shelter in that cabin as he is the foreman of the Longhorn Canyon Ranch. The interactions amongst these characters makes for a truly fun read. I loved getting to know Claire and getting to know Levi better, but to be honest Claire’s niece Zaylie stole the show. Carolyn Brown always has the cutest and most entertaining kids in her stories but I think Zaylie wins first place. She is absolutely adorable and her character adds so much to the storyline in this book.
Cowboy Honor is the second book in Carolyn Brown’s Longhorn Canyon Ranch series. This author is a Master Creator of believeable, lovable characters. She also always creates an atmosphere of down-home country comfort. And in this story that includes a warm Christmas spirit. She always makes you feel warm and happy inside at the end of the story. I always look forward to Carolyn Brown’s Christmas stories. This is another great one!

When a winter storm settles in over north central Texas, Claire Mason and her young niece find themselves falling victim to it; between the snow and high winds they never had a chance to stay on the road, it pulled them right into the ditch. Once Claire realizes there is no getting out until the storm passes, she gathers their belongings and they take shelter in a little ranch house on the property they are stranded near. She is hoping they will be safe in there, and that someone will come along to help, but nothing could have prepared her for the handsome cowboy that lands on the doorstep. As much as she tries to stay wary of the handsome stranger, it’s just no match for his sweet demeanor and kind heart!
While out looking for a wayward bull Levi Jackson finds himself stranded near their little ranch cabin, so he decides to take shelter from the blizzard that has settled in, but he quickly discovers that he is not the only one with the same plan. Upon his arrival he finds a beautiful stranger and her little niece holed up in the cabin; they went rounds with the blizzard and came out on the losing side when they landed their SUV in the ditch. With his caring nature, he can’t help but want to help them out, he’s always had a soft spot for strays and those in need, but this time his lending a hand may just have wound up getting him far more than he ever bargained for!
Cowboy Honor is a touching tale that speaks to the heart with it’s emotionally rich story line, and lifts spirits and brings on a case of the giggles with the sass and humor that is sprinkled in here and there! Once again I am left dazzled by Ms. Brown’s witty words, her charismatic cowboy, and his high spirited heroine; this one was a feel good story that tugged on my heartstrings and left me smiling! After reading the first novel in this series, I was really looking forward to a return visit, and meeting Levi, and I have to say his story did not disappoint, it was western romance at it’s best, it was engaging and heartfelt. I highly recommend you meet the cowboy’s of the Longhorn Canyon series, the moment they waltz onto to the page, they will dance away with your heart!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.

Claire is headstrong and independent and has a hard time relinquishing control and letting others help her. Zaylie is just precious with her grown-up words and love for the animals. She is a loveable, precocious little girl who quickly captures the hearts of everyone on the ranch. Levi is a sweet, charming, shy ranch foreman who does not know his own worth. He is full of self-doubt when it comes to Claire. He is head over heels for her but has a hard time seeing what she could possibly see in him. She is classy, smart, runs a successful business and has a lot more money than he does. What could she possibly want with an old cowboy like himself? Yeah, he has a bit of money but no place to call his own and the ranch is his life. What could he possibly have to offer her?

It is the perfect read for the holiday season.
