New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant takes you deep inside the Texas rodeo scene in the second book in her Heart of Texas series, Cowboy, Cross My Heart, where danger and desire ride side by side. . . Naomi Pierce isn’t the type to let a cowboy sweep her off feet. It’s not her first rodeo, after all. But when she returns to her Texas hometown, she can’t help but be swept up again in the … she can’t help but be swept up again in the rough-and-tumble world of hard-riding, bronco-busting good-ol’-boys she loved as a girl. She might be here to photograph her Rodeo Queen best friend. But it’s one fine-looking cowboy who really captures her eye…
Brice Harper is all man, all muscle, and all heart. From the moment he rides into the stadium, he can’t help but notice the beautiful stranger with a camera watching him from the stands. It doesn’t take a zoom lens to see the sparks of instant attraction. But things really heat up when he meets Naomi up-close–and he discovers that someone is stalking her friend. Brice wouldn’t be any kind of cowboy if he didn’t offer to help the ladies out. But can the rough rider keep this spirited shutterbug out of danger–without risking his heart?

Cowboy, Cross My Heart is a suspenseful and emotionally rich tale that is sure to steal the hearts of romance readers; with it’s engaging story line, and endearing characters you just can’t go wrong with this one!! This is my second visit to the series, and I have to say once again Ms.Grant has won me over with her handsome cowboy and well written tale; it was downright addictive, I just could not part ways with it until I had devoured every word! Highly recommend this one, if you like toe curling romance, with a touch of mystery, and swoon-worthy cowboys this one will be right up your alley!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
Cowboy Cross My Heart, is the second book in Donna Grant’s Heart of Texas series. Alright, I admit it, I’m a fan of men who act like men, and men who respect & know how to care for their woman so there’s never a reason for her to leave. Thus we meet Brice and Naomi. But, the story revolves around powerful men abusing young women and what the young men of their community do about it. Cowboy Cross My Heart kept me intrigued and kept me looking forward to my free time to read. Find yourself a copy & enjoy.
I’ve read the 5 books they have out. Now I’m waiting for #6, Jace’s story, coming out in April of 2021. I have really enjoyed this set of books.
I love Donna Grant’s imagination and can’t wait for each new book release. The jump from her usual dragons, fae and witches to cowboys is exciting. Cowboy, Cross My Heart is a sexy adventure featuring Brice Harper and Naomi Pierce. It took a few minutes into the book to realize Brice was all grown up from his first appearance in Donna’s Christmas Cowboy Hero. Seeing the Harper and East family again was like coming home. The story is full of danger, mystery, adventure and surprises.
Brice and Naomi are good together and the story builds on their feelings for each other. I love how Donna handles the couple’s families and past experiences as these two come together. Looking forward to the third book in this series and hoping it’s not the last – we need more cowboys in the world.
What a rollickin’ good time! In true Donna Grant style she gives it all to us. A thrilling mystery that keeps you in suspense until the very end when the last bad guy is revealed, a fabulous couple that’s embroiled in the mystery while finding their way to love, a sexy rodeo backdrop and a relevant social issue as a storyline. The Easts and the Harpers are a super family fighting to keep everyone safe by using their military expertise and training. A cowboy and a Marine! Our hero, Brice, can call me darlin’ anytime. He charms Naomi with his laser focus and protective nature. Not to mention those sexy eyes! They sizzle as a couple and there’s no doubt where they will end up…doing the two step between the sheets! Naomi has a protective streak too as she help her best friend through a troublesome time and heartache. This isn’t all romance and lightheartedness. The author tackles sensitive issues mirroring the Me 2 movement and the lasting effects of parental abandonment. But along with those there is a wonderful slow-build romance that will curl your toes in your boots. I was a little disappointed that the bad guy and his sidekick were just kinda hoo-hum and not real players. All in all this is a marvelous story with terrific characters that will keep you engaged until the last word. I can’t wait for the other stories about these sexy fellas. Giddiup, cowboy!
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. In this book, Naomi comes home to Texas to visit her friend Whitney at the rodeo. Brice comes to Naomi’s rescue when her camera was almost ripped away from her. Thus starts a spark of chemistry between the two and a dangerous situation. There is a powerful group of men who have been abusing rodeo pageant women, but that is about to be made public now that Naomi is in town! The men will stop at nothing to keep their identities secret. This is a great book and definitely one to pick up!
This is not your average cowboy love story. Naomi returns home to support her friend Whitney as the local rodeo queen. Naomi is a photographer and she took pictures at the rodeo. Brice is the cowboy who steps in to help Naomi when he hears her scream. The photo’s that Naomi took stirs up a LOT of trouble with several high powered men. Naomi and Brice get their HEA, but there are obstacles they must get thru first.
I enjoyed the book. However, the sub-story about men in power raping young women is not for the faint at heart. This can be a trigger for some so be warned. I received an Advance Reader Copy from NetGallery for an honest review.
I love going in blind to books, I love it when the book has me captivated and wanting to see what all happens right up to the end. Naomi is back in Texas to see her best friend compete in the local rodeo, while she walks around she feels a sense that she needs to be back home. As Naomi reflects on all the things she misses she knows something is off with her best friend Whitney. That feeling is right, things are not right in the town she left so many years ago. Naomi is attached while taking pictures and is saved by Brice Harper. This is when all things turn intense for all involved. Who wants to hurt the rodeo queen, the photographer and hot cowboy?
As Brice and Naomi try to find the truth behind the attack more things start to happen. I love how this book kept you guessing who is doing all these things and then to meet all of the family friends out at the East Ranch. Now I need more of these men at the East ranch. I really enjoyed the compassion that Brice has for Naomi and in turn how Naomi can sense the needs for Brice. It was like these two are truly meant for each other. The passion these two show for each other is not just seen by others, but by everyone.
I can’t wait to read more in this series from this new to me author.
This is not my usual genre but when I received the offer to read this book, I decided to give it a try. I’m so glad I did! I truly enjoyed it. It was not what I expected of a cowboy romance….there was romance and smexy times, of course, but there was also a mystery, danger, and suspense. I loved Naomi and Brice, the secondary characters, and how everyone came together to put a stop to everything that was going on.
I haven’t read this first book in the series but I’m going to look for it and I plan on reading the next book in the series as well.
*Warning: Possible trigger: This book features women who have been abused and the men who did the abusing. Also, there are scenes where the men discuss the abuse.*
I received a copy of this book from the publisher St. Martin’s Press, via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias.
Cowboy, Cross My Heart by Donna Grant is book Two in the Heart of Texas series. This is the story of Brice Harper and Naomi Pierce. I have read the previous book, but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Naomi used to live in Texas but moved away for college and work, so she knows the not to be taken by a cowboy. But when she returns to support her best friend and take pictures she is taken back by her instant attraction to Brice. Brice notices Naomi from a far when working the rodeo but takes a instant like/love to her when close up. But the ladies find trouble which leads Brice to step up with helping them.
Really enjoyed this book….Loved it!
This was a light and sweet romance with a twist of suspense to keep the pages turning and did they turn quickly. Naomi Pierce is back home to visit her friend and taking pictures at the rodeo when a cowboy catches her eye or at least they catch each other’s eye. Brice Harper spots the photographer as soon as he enters the arena. Later that night he happens upon her and her friend being attacked. This puts him in the line of attack and the next day he is also attacked along with Naomi at the rodeo. There is danger lurking and it seems they are now caught in the crossfire. What brings them together is just part of the story when there is a romance to be had and watching Naomi and Brice come together and Naomi come to grips with being back home in Texas where she belongs is the real love story. I didn’t read the first story in this series and did not find I was lost so I deem this a standalone but I am looking forward to the next one in this series since I really enjoyed this one. Great world building! I felt like I was on the ranch. Great characters!
This was an amazing, action-packed romance!
Naomi is just back in town to hang out with her best friend and add some country pics to her photography portfolio. When she stumbles into a conspiracy targeting her friend, her own life is threatened as well. Brice Harper happens by in time to save Naomi and Whitney, and soon it takes his entire family and friends to keep them safe.
The action is non-stop in this story, and the characters are relatable and well-matched. The romance between Naomi and Brice develops slowly, with plenty of deeper emotional moments that show their intense connection that goes beyond the immediate danger.
I was completely immersed in this book and couldn’t put it down until I finished. I loved every bit, and highly recommend it to anyone who loves contemporary cowboy romances. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Cowboy, Cross My Heart is book two in the Heart of Texas series by Donna Grant. This is Naomi Pierce and Brice Harper’s story.
Wow! This story had me hooked from the beginning to the end. A fantastic read with suspense, wonderful characters, and hot chemistry. I loved Brice and Naomi’s characters. The supporting characters add so much to the story. Looking forward to the next book in the series. This was a fun and entertaining story that kept me on the edge of my seat.
FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is book 2 in the Heart of Texas series and is my first book by Donna Grant. Will certainly be reading more of her books and this series!!
Naomi Pierce is a world class photographer who has come back home to take pictures of her best friend and Rodeo Queen but while talking with her friend she gets the vibe that not all is well with her friend. Though she questions her friend she isn’t talking. A while later sitting in the rodeo stands taking pictures of the events Naomi sees a fine looking man riding who catches her eye. Now she has to find this man…
Brice Harper is a rodeo cowboy, tall, handsome, full of muscles with lots of heart. While in the arena getting ready for his event he scans the seats and finds a beautiful stranger with a camera in her hand pointed at him. Something sparks inside him and he is determined to meet her but before he can find her he hears a call for help and runs to the rescue. Who does he find but the beautiful stranger, Naomi and the Rodeo Queen. What he thinks is a simple rescue turns out to be something so much more.
Lots of mystery, danger in the dark, shadows, laughs, romance and sexy times make this book so worth reading!!
Cowboy, Cross My Heart is a riveting story of love, rodeos, rodeo queens, and hope. I really liked the chemistry between Naomi Pierce and Brice Harper. It is sizzling, but then who would not fall for a cute, sexy cowboy. This book is full of suspense that will have you trying to figure out what is going on at the rodeo and what is going to happen next to Naomi’s best friend, Whitney Nolan. I really enjoyed the suspense. This author is new to me but not any more. I hope there are more stories in this series. I received an advanced copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
This book is about finding your way home. Naomi has come home to see the rodeo and support her best friend Whitney striving for Rodeo Queen. Sitting in the stands, memories come back to her. Memories of her uncle who was a rodeo clown, her dad, barrel racing and the atmosphere. She finds she is missing horseback riding. The way cowboys dip their hat as a sign of respect with a ma’am attached. Through the lens of her camera she espies Brice Harper and the air suddenly becomes hard to breathe. Brice is the kind of cowboy to come to the rescue of a damsel in distress. From the moment they meet and he sees that she is ok, Naomi feels like she has found the one. Coming home has brought family, friends and true love into her life.
Cowboy, Cross My Heart is a book that kept my rapt attention. I read it in two nights and would have read it straight through if I had had the opportunity. Ms. Grant did an excellent job with the characters, the plot and the book just flowed very nicely.
The mystery and the romance were equally important to the story with hunky cowboys whose protective nature and sweet rear ends in denim added to the overall appeal of the characters (yum!). The strength of the female characters balanced things out nicely, even if they did need those big strong men to help keep them safe.
