Welcome to Big Verde, Texas, where a love-‘em-and-leave-‘em cowboy faces his greatest challenge yet—the woman he left behind. Perfect for fans of New York Times bestselling authors Lori Wilde and Carolyn Brown. Some cowboys aren’t cut out to be Prince Charming—and Claire Kowalski knows that better than anyone. She gave her heart to Ford Jarvis two years ago, yet that didn’t keep him … that better than anyone. She gave her heart to Ford Jarvis two years ago, yet that didn’t keep him from disappearing into the sunset. Now that he’s back in Big Verde, Texas, she’s determined not to make the same mistake twice. But the ruggedly sexy cowboy still knows how to push all her buttons, and avoiding him is nearly impossible when she needs his help.
Ford didn’t plan on returning home—ever—but when he hears that the Kowalski ranch is in trouble, he hightails it back to town. He’s not eager to be reminded of the life he can never have, but his time in Big Verde is only temporary. He’ll stay long enough to get the ranch up and running, then hit the road again. But when Ford finds out the new foreman he’s training is Claire, still as stubborn and beautiful as ever, this cowboy is going to have to decide what matters most—repeating the mistakes of the past or fighting for a future with the only woman he’s ever loved..
I love a good cowboy journey and this is one of them. The pages just pop with visuals, full of the emotions and the cowboy way. Small town, big ranch, and life’s realities all rolled into one well written story.
Claire and Ford, both strong characters with big hearts. Ford thinks he’s cursed and no good for Claire so it made for some great reading with ups and downs, laughter and tears. A lot of characters and events, so never a dull moment. The heat was burning too.
A bit predictive in a few parts for me, but I’m an impatient reader. I still really enjoyed it, especially the humor, and the significance of nerf guns LOL. A happy ending with a happy sigh!
I received an ARC thru NetGalley and giving my opinion freely
Cowboy Come Home by Carly Bloom is a Once Upon a Time in Texas novel. Claire Kowalski is looking for someone but it is obvious that looking on the Internet is not getting her anywhere. She had found the one, cone, but it turned out he didn’t plan to settle down, so that left her out. Now Ford Jarvis was back, for six weeks at least, working on her father’s ranch. She could stay out of his way that long, probably. She couldn’t wait to get home to her little Airstream trailer, called Miss Daisy. Unfortunately a storm came up and she, unused to driving her brand-new Mini Cooper rather than the more practical pickup truck she had traded in drove right into a wash with water rising. She knew better. She got out and watched her lovely new car wash away. What to do? Luckily, along came Ford, having heard on the radio that her car had been found miles away and looking for her. They could not get to the other side of the wash and had no cell service so she could not let her parents know she was OK. Not that day, at least. Great, now here she was, stuck in a cabin with Ford Jarvis. Just what she needed?
This book is full of people with huge personalities. Ford was plagued by a curse, a curse, which kept him from settling down and had been passed down for generations. Amazing for a perfectly intelligent man is all other regards. Claire is creative and wants to keep her dad’s ranch relevant. She is not really a rancher but a marketing genius that has already made Rancho Canada Verde a household name with her clever branding. She was also an outdoor girl whop climbed rocks and rode horses. When she heard her father was sick and considering selling up, she jumped in with both feet to save the ranch. This was not simple romance, but a touching story of family pride and setting long-term goals. Claire is in it for the long haul. Now, if only she could get Ford on board. What a terrific story. Good plot, interesting character, gorgeous setting. Everything is in place to make it a very satisfying m modern cowboy novel. I recommend it.
I was invited to read a free ARC of Cowboy Come Home by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. #netgalley #cowboycomehome
A book guaranteed to tickle your fancy!
What a fun book to read! The author truly has a gift for creative, descriptive phrases that perfectly evoke the humor and culture of life on a modern ranch. Claire and her friends are presented as a shining example of girl friends, while Ford and his crew of cowboys are the kind of men you want to fix a plate for.
This is a delightful second-chance romance as Ford returns for a temporary stint as the foreman on Claire’s family ranch. Determined not to lose her heart again to the vagabond cowboy, Claire insists he teach her what she needs to know to take over the ranch duties from her ailing father. Convinced he’s under a curse that will doom any attempt at a long-term relationship, Ford does his best to keep his hands to himself despite the irresistible temptation of the rancher’s daughter.
Add in a terrifying flash flood, a psychotic cat, a gala fundraiser, and all the cowboy superstitions one can imagine, and this book delivers a warm, supportive community that instantly feels like your second home. I personally love the Larsons – I think I’ve actually met Trista and Bubba in real life!
I loved every single bit of this wonderful story, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves to read about cowboys. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. PS: Get you a man who knows cursive!
Great book. Strong storyline and I loved the characters. I am new to Carly Bloom’s books but would definitely read more of her books.
After reading and loving Big Bad Cowboy (the first in this series), I was extremely excited to continue to the second book. However, while the second book was good, it didn’t stand out in the same way the first book did. The first book (and, from what I’ve heard, the third book) are a little bit more romcom with a hint of cowboy, and this one was definitely full-on cowboy romance. The male lead is a somewhat stereotypical cowboy, full of superstition, can’t commit, moving on from one ranch to the next every few weeks. Every book as The Big Hurdle(TM) keeping the main characters apart, and in this one, it was that the male lead was “cursed” to never be able to settle down with a woman. Yeah. Right. I just couldn’t buy into that and it seemed so dumb, I had a hard time grasping the plot.
However, I did still enjoy the book. I loved Claire, the female lead, who appreciated glamor but wasn’t afraid to get down and dirty and take on being ranch foreman when she needed to. The characters were truly what made this story. I just can’t say this book stood out to me like the first one (which I highly recommend). Still super excited to read the third book!
Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review!
4 stars – 7/10
Carly Bloom is one of my favorite new authors because of her superb wit and humor, plus the fact that she also knows how to tell a great story. She didn’t disappoint in this one. I felt like I was actually living in the town of Big Verde with all the characters, and I laughed out loud in several parts. If you want an authentic taste of small town life in Texas, plus a scrumptious hero and lovable heroine, don’t miss this one!
Really enjoyed this heartwarming, sexy, fun and witty adventure filled with engaging charters, intriguing dialog, heart racing twists and undeniable passion. Emotionally thrilling read from beginning to exciting end. A great second chance romance.
Big Verde is such an awesome place to visit!! I read the debut by this author and absolutely fell in love with the town so I was really excited for this second in the series.
I loved Claire and Ford. There were some hurts left over from when Ford left the ranch. Claire is such a force to be reckoned with; she knows what she wants and she has big dreams. Claire is my favorite part of this whole story.
There were so many characters introduced this time around that I need to see get their own HEA. Hopefully there will be many visits to Big Verde to come!!
Welcome back to Big Verde, TX! This time around we get into the complicated relationship between Claire and Ford. Claire is the sole heir to the biggest cattle ranch in the area and Ford is the traveling cowboy who’s life is constantly moving from ranch to ranch with nothing but his horse and a cat he saved along the way. Ford and Claire have had a steamy relationship that ends with Ford taking off for a new job somewhere around the state and leaving Claire wanting more. More than Ford Jarvis is capable of the Jarvis family curse following him around. When the next trip to Big Verde brings him back into Claire’s life they do everything to keep themselves from falling into each other’s arms and beds but they fail. When a family emergency puts the livelihood of her family’s ranch at risk will Ford stick around to help them out? Claire’s big dream was to own her own shop and have a family but Ford isn’t part of the equation and with the future of the ranch at risk, she steps up to take over when Ford has moved on to his next job and lets everyone down. Upon his return with his hat in hand, he is back to make things right and to win back Claire, but is it too little too late?
Beautifully written with vivid images of the rolling Texas hill country that make you feel a part of the story, you will love this tumultuous love story! Carly Bloom is extremely gifted and writes what she knows. You will love this story!
Cowboy come home I thought was a wonderful and delightful read. I truly enjoyed reading about the characters. Its a wonderful well written story and a good storyline. Kept my interest throughout the story. Its easy to read and a page turner.
Thank you NetGalley and Forever for letting me read this story.
I read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are of my own.
good light reading
I thought it was written very well, the characters we believable. Will continue with the series
Bloom crafted a rich, character driven novel. This installment of the series definitely makes you want more. I can’t wait to see the next couple fall.
After recently reading Big Bad Cowboy by Carly Bloom and seeing a glimpse of the relationship between Claire and her rancher cowboy Ford, I couldn’t wait to get to their story in Cowboy Come Home! I’m a total sucker for second chance romances so this book seemed like the perfect follow up to Big Bad Cowboy (which I loved).
Claire has always loved living on her family’s ranch, Rancho Canada Verde, but some recent natural disasters have made ranch living just a bit hard at the moment. Claire may have taken living on the ranch for granted a bit, but she needs help running the ranch for the time being and has to rely on the one person that she doesn’t really want to ask help for – Ford Jarvis.
Claire and Ford were together for a bit a few years ago, but Ford broke Claire’s heart when he decided to leave Big Verde after his time on the ranch was done. But he’s back now and Claire will have no other choice then to rely on Ford to help her run the ranch while her dad deals with a few issues of his own.
I really enjoyed this sweet second chance romance. Both Claire and Ford were wary of falling back into the relationship they had a few years ago. Claire wants a prince charming, and Ford isn’t willing to settle down any time soon…will they decide to keep their relationship professional or is their magnetic pull to one another too strong?
I also really loved the family dynamics with Claire and her mom and dad. But just as easy as it is for Claire and her family to show their affection with one another, it’s just as hard for Ford to have that same easiness with his family. His issues are complex, but maybe if he has a little hope he can finally let himself think about settling down in the wonderful community that is Big Verde.
I loved revisiting with the characters of Big Verde. The secondary characters are so well rounded. Not only did certain scenes have me laughing out loud, but they also made me feel the sense of community in Big Verde. I can’t help, but want to be a part of this amazing community!
I really enjoyed Cowboy Come Home and can’t wait to see what Carly Bloom has in store for Big Verde. Cowboy Come Home releases March 31, 2020.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher.
Claire Kowalski is the only child of Gerome and Lilly Kowalski she also at twenty is wanting to have what her friends have married and started a family. Her problem is that there is no one on her horizon. The one guy she hoped would stick around would be Ford, but that was not to be.
Ford is back on the ranch as the foreman for six weeks and wouldn’t you know it, he knows that because it is raining that she will get stuck trying to cross the stream. The problem becomes the stream is a river and flash floods are being called and he found her by the river not in her car which was down the river.
Ford loves Claire but he feels he is cursed and that all of the men in his family are. When he finds out along with Claire that her father is thinking about selling the ranch Ford decides to help her with how to be a foreman. She also is looking for other ways to help the ranch she came up in different ways. Her biggest problem was that Ford did not come back when he said he was going to and she has been running herself ragged.
When Ford finally does show up back in town he is not welcomed with open arms. He is though given a salute with a nerf gun. He is let back into the group again without having to work for it. This was a good story with very good characters and a lot of unique and different situations. One book that I think many people will enjoy. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Cowboy Come Home is book 2 in the series Once Upon A Time in Texas by Carly Bloom
Ford Jarvis, rancher who moves from ranch to ranch thought he found it all at Rancho Canada Verde…foreman, place to call home, the woman of his dreams Claire Kowalski and a family BUT he believes he’s cursed so he leaves. Now two years later he’s back for 6 weeks to train the new foreman only that person is Claire so he will do whatever it takes to help her…then it’s back on the road.
Claire Kowalski has dreams she want to pursue, loves her family ranch but her life changes when disaster strikes, her father has cancer and they need a permanent foreman, she is determined to be that person but what she doesn’t know is Ford is coming back to help short term…
Does Ford believe he is still cursed and needs to move on or can he and Claire find their way back to each other to build a life, a family and have the HEA they both deserve?
“Cowboy Come Home”was full of community, humor, and people who where there for you when you needed help. They also really knew how to have a good time as well.
Claire sure did some stupid stuff sometimes but she was also bold, adventurous, really skilled in certain areas and funny.
Ford was really skilled when it came to all his years of ranching but he sure was one messed up guy. When you get to look at how he was raised and events from his past you get a really good idea of how that happened. And what he believes is the “Jarvis Curse” keeps slapping him in the face. He’s thirty-one and heard about it all his life. It’s just one more of his battles.
Claire’s friend Maggie was one hilarious woman. But one of their friends Bubba was too, with some of that coming from his naivety.
Claire and Maggie had so much humor that it often came through on their t-shirts which sported some funny sayings.
Wow, those cowboys had a slew of superstitions that was shown really well. It had me shaking my head a few times, with a smile on my face.
I liked how there was that “tug” between Claire and Ford. They just knew when the other one was in a room. I’ve heard that before in other books but this story did it in an unusual way.
Claire and Ford’s struggle wasn’t the only one in the book but I liked how it all worked out. Plus it did include a sweet Epilogue.
While I enjoyed it, I wouldn’t say it was on my list of favorites. I do know that most of all I enjoyed the humor (if you haven’t already guessed that).
“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
Cowboy Come Home is book two in the Once Upon a Time in Texas series by Carly Bloom. I have adored this series so far and have been so looking forward to Claire and Ford’s story.
Claire Kowalski is twenty nine years old. She is the only child of Gerome and Lilly Kowalski and sole heir to the Rancho Canada Verde ranch in Texas. Claire loves the ranch. It runs in her veins. But she also has other ideas, dreams. Dreams which included finding her own Prince Charming. She has about given up, though. She thought she found him two years ago when Ford came to work on their ranch. She fell in love. But in the end, he left and broke her heart.
Ford Jarvis moves from ranch to ranch, never staying long, never putting down roots, never getting attached. Except for when he was at Rancho Canada Verde and fell for Claire. But he knew she deserved more. Because all the men in his family were cursed. Jarvis men didn’t fall in love and stay that way. So he left. But now Gerome needs his help. The ranch is struggling and he needs a foreman. So Ford will help them for as long as he can stay. It’s thousands of acres. He can avoid Claire, right?!
No matter where Ford and Claire were, the pull between them was too strong, too much to ignore. It was more than just chemistry, though. They talked, they worked together, they laughed together. Feelings once again bloom. Ford wants to forget about the curse. He wants to be the man Claire deserves. Claire knows that Ford will leave again and that once again he’ll be taking her heart with him. Truth be told, he’s always had it. Can she just enjoy the time they have together now and not worry about the future?
“What if she set aside happily ever after to enjoy being happy for now?”
This was such a good book. I think what I loved the most was this whole group of people. We get plenty of Maggie and Travis from the first book. But not only that, it’s the whole group of friends and how they look out for each other. They have history. They’re like an extended family to each other. This whole concept confounds Ford because he’s never had that. He wants it so badly, the question is, can he stick around long enough to have it?
It’s no secret that I love cowboy romance and this series is definitely one I recommend. I can’t wait to see what Carly Bloom does next.
Hold my purse, I need to rope me a Cowboy! You know the song save a horse…ride a cowboy, it must have been written for Ford!

Claire has ranching in her blood. She eats, sleeps and breathes her family’s ranch. Well, except for that one time she fell in love…with a cowboy…who left her…
Ford is a cowboy through and through. Moving from one ranch to another, never sticking around long. Well, except for that one time, when he met Claire…and fell in love…with a cowgirl…and then left her.
Ford thinks he’s cursed and doing the right thing by leaving Claire. Until he has to come back to help with the ranch again. It’s a big ranch, he can avoid her right? What could go wrong…or right?
This book is the second in the series and I loved it! There is character growth, a great story, witty banter, romance, and awesome characters. Everything just worked for me in this book! Strong heroine, a cowboy hero that thinks he’s cursed, secondary characters that add to the feel of the book, and a story that flows at just the right pace! Sure a couple of times I wanted to smack Ford, but that just endeared me to him more!
This is a definite recommend from me! Love the series and will definitely keep reading!
I wanted to like this book the story doesn’t seem original it feel like I have read this story before. Also I felt the author wanted you to see Claire as this strong independent person who was a fighter, but I saw her as a whiney rich girl who wanted what she wanted and tended to whine about it through out the story. I found Ford a broken soul with no where to land. I liked Worth he was fun to read about and I wanted to know more about his story. I liked Henry, Maggie and Travis they had me laughing along with Bubba, Tessa and Jd. This book is for sure an adult read it has cursing and sex through out the book. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion
