Make sure you read From the Ashes, a novella, before you read Covet as it’s a continuation of Paige and Kaels story.
As soon as I had finished From the Ashes I jumped right into this story. I couldn’t resist. As much as I loved Paige and Kael I loved them even more in Covet. Any questions we had after reading From the Ashes are answered in Covet.
I found Paige and Kaels story emotional, heartbreaking and intense. This is a dark read with trigger warnings. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.
I’m in complete awe! I love Kael and Paige! His dark to her light makes for one powerful story. Again, a must read!
I have to be honest. . . I wasn’t ready for this book. I wasn’t ready for the emotion, the depth, the pain, the touch. . . no branding. This author and the dark side are intimate friends. She couldn’t possibly be otherwise that’s the only way she could bring together the pleasure and pain and emotion it took to tell their story. He trained her, claimed her confessed his love and left. They broke her, at least what was left of her after he abandoned her. Betrayed by those she was supposed to trust. Beaten and thrown out like trash by the person he feared most. How does love survive this? Skillfully written this trip to the dark will haunt you and if you like the dark this author will be your new friend.
I didn’t think I would find Kael as masterful and imposing as Samael in Crave, but wow. He is just as dark and damaged as his brother. Under their father’s evil, controlling thumb, Kael suffered helplessly, doing everything his father forced on him, including training Paige. I was so sad for her – but I loved how feisty she was, even in the face of danger and hopelessness. She gave as good as she got, even if it put herself at risk to do so. There were some really tough moments in this story, trigger warnings be heeded! Harlan Wolfe is pure evil. But, in the end, the sequences of events that took place brought Kael and Paige out of their dark places but in completely unexpected ways. This was brutal, painful, and yet beautiful as Paige rose from the ashes. Loved it!
Covet fills in all of the unanswered and unknown events that are left from From the Ashes.
I highly recommend reading From the Ashes to fully appreciate, understand and love Kael and Skyla’s life journey.
Kael is dragged into a dark depraved world of his fathers and uncles making. He hates it but doesn’t have the will
or drive to leave. That is until he meets Skyla. She inadvertently gives him the push he needs to leave and start over.
Paige (Skyla) is forced into the darkest filthiest vile depths of hell on earth to fulfill the perverted desires of cruel men.
Paige is given to Kael to train. In each other they will find hope and possibly something else.
Their journey is hard and heartbreaking. Covet had me feeling so many emotions. Tears, sadness but also hope and joy.
Covet is a raw emotional roller coaster of a read. It’s dark, intense and gripping.
The characters are strong but still have vulnerability in them. They have a spirirt so strong it’ll pull the will to survive out of them.
Ms. Rene is an outstanding author. Her writing is superb and the words and phrases she uses flow perfectly and flawlessly.
She writes books that are neither typical nor average.
Her stories are unique and not the cookie cutter types. They standout and are unforgettable.
Covet was an off the charts fantastic read!
Wow!!! So many emotions come from this book. Dark, Dirty and twisted just like I like them. Covet is a very intense story of two people that come together in all the wrong ways, but they can’t resist the connection that they feel for one another. Their journey is so worth reading. Make sure you read From the Ashes before diving into this one. I also should warn you that this book is not for everyone because there are some really dark and twisted things that happen in this book.
Happy Reading Everyone!!
In order to full appreciate and comprehend everything that happens in his story between Kael and Paige you NEED TO read From The Ashes first. I love these Wolfe brothers but something about Kael and the way he is dominant yet gentle just pulls you to him like a magnet. We’re taken the darkened path to where everything began, I feel for Paige and all she is living though. She’s a strong woman for keeping herself together after all of that, I don’t think I would be able to myself. With Kael you just know that there is so much more then meets the eye and as hard as he tries to keep that mask on it slips and he’s completely exposed. There are moments my heart is beating so loud in my chest and others I’m on the verge of tears. This is truly a page turner that had me on the edge the entire time. Highly recommend one clicking this book you’re not going to want to miss out. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
