Covert Threat (A Gray Ghost Novel Book 5)
By: Amy McKinley
5 out of 5 stars
The story Covert Threat (A Gray Ghost Novel Book 5) by Amy McKinley is a romantic suspense book. It pulls you in from the very beginning and doesn’t let you go until the final page. The story has mystery, danger, and romance. I loved reading about the characters of Jules Moretti and Trev Shaw. Jules is a woman who is intelligent, strong, independent, and can be stubborn. She works at an elite research facility and has recently had strange occurrences happen to her. That is when Trev is called in to assist. Trev is working as Jules’s bodyguard. He finds that he can’t stop thinking about her and that his heart is starting to fall for her. There is an unknown threat to Jules, and he needs to keep his mind clear to keep her safe. Will he be able to uncover the threat to Jules? Is there a future for Jules and Trev? Read this book to find out. This story had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. As each new situation happens, I found myself wondering what could be happening. I grew to care about Trev and Jules with each chapter that I read, and I was rooting that the threat would be uncovered and also that they would find happiness. I enjoyed that some of the secondary characters have been brought forward from the other books in the series. Don’t miss out on a book that has twists and turns that will keep you guessing. I highly recommend reading it.
Dr. Jules Moretti is a researcher who is on the verge of a medical break through that will protect military personnel and others from infectious diseases. Suddenly things start to go wrong at her office and her house. Trev Shaw, a former Navy SEAL, is hired to protect her.
This was a well written book with a carefully constructed plot. There was a lot of suspense with romance thrown in. Definitely an engaging read.
I couldn’t put it down, loved trying to figure it out. Would definitely recommend!
Full of suspense and intrigue. Poor Jules really thought she was going insane! Trev was fun, but with a really secure presence. Kept my interest and the pages turning!
Our heroine is a scientist working on top secret projects, but someone wants her dead. Enter our hero.
This is book five of the series, but it is written as a standalone, so no prior reading is required. There are references to characters and things past, but nothing essential to this story.
This is a romantic suspense story with a complex plot with lots of action and intrigue. The story is very well written with complex characters that are well developed and bring the story to life. This one is a little heavier on the intrigue, but certainly not at the expense of the action or romance. Both our characters are well developed, smart, and tough just the way I like them. The action is fast paced and non-stop, making it hard to put the book down. Overall, a very addictive and enjoyable story and I hope to see more in this series.
Highly recommended.

Jules works in infectious disease and when strange things start happening around her she goes to her boss about it. He is concerned enough to hire her protection. Trev is the one hired to watch out for her in case the threat is real. Jules doesn’t understand why any of this is happening and its driving her crazy. When a friend and co-worker dies it hits closer to home again that there is someone out to get her. As Trev and the team search to find answers they are floored by Jules’s missing memories from childhood and wonder if maybe she is responsible. Trev doesn’t agree with them and watches over her closer. Jules has had a letter from her mother that she was supposed to open if things got weird for her. When she finally reads it with Trev everything comes rushing back and a lot of secrets are revealed. Can the figure out who the threat is? Will Trev stick with Jules even after everything is done?

I loved Covert Threat! It has all the makings of a book you just can’t put down. Romance, danger, mystery. Jules Moretti is a work obsessed Infectious Disease Specialist who is being threatened and in danger. Trev Shaw, former Navy Seal is hired to protect her and that’s where the chemistry begins. This is a book you will finish in one sitting. Great story that keeps you intrigued and guessing.
An awesome who done it story. Keeps you on the edge of your seat. What’s going to happen next. A strange screen saver shows up on Jules computer at work and then she is knocked overboard on a boat. Trev rescues her and is told he is her bodyguard. As Trev and Jules get to know each other, crazy stuff happens that makes Jules think she crazy. Things moved and not where they should be, messages are fogged mirrors, and lit candles that she knows she put out. As things continue to run amok, the crazier she appears to be. Trev is determined to keep her safe. What going on? Must read to find out.

Covert Threat By Amy Mckinley
What a pleasant surprise that even though I hadn’t read the first few books in the series I was able to follow the story pretty well, Typically though I prefer to follow the series starting at book one. So I’ll be definitely going to start from book one and continue with the series 🙂 Amy McKinley does a great job with mixing Romance and suspense to keep you reading through the pages to find out what happens next! Amy McKinley has created some great characters in this story and I look forward to reading more of this series!
We are well on in this series now and I have to tell you it isn’t slowing down at all if anything the stories are sharper and more current as they go along Once again I was kept of the edge of my set waiting for the next disaster to befall out latest couple
Trevor is everything that a member of ghost team should be he is all alpha and a protector to his soul So when he sent in to protect a bio chemist who is in danger it seems the perfect job for him. What he doesn’t expect is to fall for the scientist. Jules Moretti is a carer at heart and she uses her brain to protect the world developing cures and vaccines to help the world so why is someone trying to hurt her and what secrets are locked in her past As the danger escalates for these two so will the passion between them.
I enjoyed this book immensely. The main characters had a chemistry that was palpable and I liked that the POV switched between them. The plot was easy to follow and had interesting twists! I never saw the ending coming. I read cover to cover because I couldn’t put it down. Great job. 5 stars.

When I decided to read this book I didn’t realize right away it was in a series, I was a little nervous wondering if I should read the series in order. I quickly realized this could easily be a stand alone book. The book drew me right in. There is a threat that arises you are taken on A roller coaster ride. You find yourself trying to figure it out. Everything boils down to keeping Jules save . Will Trev be able to conceal his brewing feelings to keep a level head to do his job? Or will in fact is new found passion and emotions make him more determined? This is a great thriller romance chilling edge if your seat page turner. Do yourself a favor and read this book! As I was reading this book I could easily imagine this being a rest movie to watch as well. Again this is book 5 in the series so if your all about reading series in order go right ahead.Personally I don’t feel that you have to read them in order. Like I mentioned it can be a great stand alone book. Although the rest of the series is on my to read list! Happy reading!
Covert Threat (A Gray Ghost Novel Book 5) by Amy McKinley, 5 stars.
I’m no novice when it comes to reading Amy’s book they are outstanding.
From page one until your last your be sucked in, especially with the suspense, strong independent characters Amy loves to write, and Covert Threat is no different. Jules loves her work at the research facility but strangeness starts to happen to her and when the bodyguard Trev makes an appearance and things start to heat up. But can it really be that simple? Read this to find out those details, it will have you on the edge of your seat for sure.
Covert Threat (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 5) by Amy McKinley was an entertaining read. I felt invested in the suspense and romance. Covert Threat is an intriguing, action packed, romantic suspense story that hooked me from the very first page! Amy McKinley never disappoints! If I see this author’s name, I know I’m going to love the book!
Jules is a scientist who is dedicated to her job. A serious workaholic. Her life consists of work, sleep, repeat, with an occasional outing for a drink with her friend Fran. One day she gets a strange message on her computer along with all sorts of other strange things happening around her.
Trev is a former Navy Seal who is hired to be Jules’ bodyguard. He’s gorgeous, built, smart, funny, and knows how he affects the opposite sex. Which is why he’s shocked that Jules seems to be able to resist his charms! Soon, they find out that Jules is in more trouble than first appeared. Can Trev figure out what’s going on and keep Jules safe all while trying to get her to see him as more than just a bodyguard?
This is book five in the Gray Ghost series but it can be read as a standalone. It contains a little bit of everything and will have your emotions all over the place! I highly recommend this story and all of Amy’s books! 5 stars!
I have read a few books from this author and I absolutely love her. My favorite genre is military romance and she always exceeds all my expectations. This is the fifth book in the Gray Ghost series. You can read this as a stand-alone but there are previous characters in this story as well. I was so excited when I got this book. I stopped everything and started to read it immediately. I could not put this book down. It only took me a few hours to devour this amazing story.
Jules Moretti is a specialist in infectious diseases. She loves her job. Jules is working on a top secret project. She knows what she is doing but something happens to her that makes her need a bodyguard. Jules thinks she knows all about the type of man that Trevor is but she quickly finds out she is dead wrong. She feels an amazing chemistry between her and the hunky bodyguard. Jules doesn’t know but she is getting herself into danger that she can’t even see. Will Trevor be able to save her in time or will the danger take over?
Covert Threat ( Gray Ghost #5) By Amy McKinley
4 Stars!!!!
I was once again drawn into the adventurous world of Amy McKinley and I again was not disappointed. I liked the drama and intrigue that flows throughout the book. The characters just jump to life off of the pages and draw the reader in and keep you hooked till the last page. It was an exciting read that kept the flow of the series alive and me on the edge of my seat.
Trev and Jules are so explosive in their chemistry and the drama and intrigue that surrounds them. I was so impressed of the flow of this series. The characters enhance one another and the story line is invigorating and addictive. I felt as though I was in the midst of the action and was eager to see how things would turn out. This is a great read and I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future and hope for more of this series.
Covert Threat is the fifth book in Amy McKinley’s exciting Gray Ghost series. Like the others, it can be read as a standalone but features characters and references events from the previous books.
The Gray Ghost team specialise in difficult missions. They can keep people safe or get them out of tricky situations. The core of the team is former military, and they put their training to good use in dangerous situations. The books are packed with action and tension.
Jules, the protagonist of Covert Threat, realises that she is in trouble when she starts noticing small things out of place. A drawer she doesn’t remember opening. A change to the screensaver on her computer. As things build up, and Jules realises she’s not just imagining it, Trev steps in to protect her and help get to the bottom of things.
I particularly like Jules as a character. Her interest in food and cooking means that McKinley applied her generous attention to detail to descriptions of delicious, nostalgic food (I’m hungry just reading it!). Also, her work as an epidemiologist is really cool and I learnt a lot from reading about it.
For me, this is a five star book. I’d recommend the series to fans of action who like a book with a complex story and characters that you get to know over time. Although you can jump in here, reading the stories in order gives you a chance to meet the characters properly and see their stories unfold (and you’re going to want to read them all eventually!).
