4 out of 5 stars
I love the previous books by this author and this book did not disappoint. Covert Identities is a mystery/romance novel and it does have a slow burning start, but there is a purpose behind that. There is so much movement with the background and history of the two main characters, Amy and Sean, that the information provided adds to the development, not only of each character but to the overall storyline as well. Amy is retiring from the world of dance, and upon returning home, renovating a house left to her, she is thrust into the world of mystery where she is determined to come out the victor. Sean, the contractor for her house, is inadvertently thrown in with her. Amy and Sean have history. Having grown up as neighbors, and arch enemies, well as much as two people who are in different business could possibly be, they are now working together to restore the house. There are sparks, do not let them fool you. They will try to deny it. But they are most certainly there, and when they catch fire…they will burn. High recommended for both romance lovers and mystery lovers.
Covert Identities written by Amabel Daniels was a great read. I’m not usually a suspense person because I tend to creep myself out and over think sketchy scenarios. Amy is an interesting character but reading her and Sean going back and forth is highly entertaining. While Amy and Sean get off to a rocky start and then things keep happening and popping up to, like dead bodies, an old journal…secrets are coming out in her family. The story is full of suspense and mystery and you start to question a lot of people and truth’s that Amy thought she knew. Overall I enjoyed the story and the characters, while the main focus was on the suspense Amabel still managed to sneak in some romance.

The thing I loved about this book was that it wasn’t only a love story. It also had a mystery for the main characters to unravel. Amy Perry is a famous dancer who has travelled the world. Leaving behind a crazy ex and a nasty divorce, she goes home to fix the house she inherited, to make herself a home. Little does she know, her step father has hired her childhood nemesis as her contractor. Faced with dealing with him again, Amy realizes that he has grown up to be a man. He is sexy, gorgeous and turns out he’s a gentleman too.
Sean Newland is surprised to see Amy. He found her cute back then but now she’s grown to be a beautiful, independent woman. Both have sworn to remain single but with an attraction so strong, will they succumb to their desires? First day on the job and they find a dead body on the premises and her Uncle’s journal full of riddles. Working together to solve the mystery brings them closer each day.
The story was well written with different plots that never overpowered each other but blended perfectly. Amy and Sean didn’t rush to jump into bed rather it was a slow build up that I appreciated. I was always anticipating what would happen next. The mystery of the story was a perfect crescendo until it was fully solved. I think Amabel Daniels did a wonderful job with this book.
Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels is a story filled with romance and lots of suspense. This is the story of Amy Perry and Sean Newland. Amy and Sean have such chemistry now that they are adults. But when they were kids, Sean was Amy’s nemesis. They were going to work together on her uncle’s house. Things did not go exactly as planned, a body was found among other mysteries along the way. As all these mysteries are happening, the chemistry between Sean and Amy is heating up and just getting hotter and hotter.
Amabel Daniels has you engaged from the start and I read Covert Identities in one sitting, I could not put it down. Her writing flows with ease, is descriptive and engaging. Her characters are well developed and very believable. I definitely recommend reading Covert Identities.

Ok this was simply awesome…my second read by this author and I loved it. It had all I love in a book…mystery, suspense, 2 people who see each other again after years and pick right back up fighting each other at every turn, love, romance, hurt, danger, and a huge loveable butt dialing beast named Balboa.
Yes this story had it all and it had me trying to put the pieces together all the way through, I love stories like this, and I loved all the characters at play and how they all interacted.
I read this pretty quick since I couldn’t put it down once I started and this author had a new fan when I finished the first that I read and this one just solidified that.
Loved it and I highly recommend! Hope there is more to come for these and other characters in this story.
Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels was a cute, sweet, mystery with that low burn romance I love.
My first read by this author and first in this collection of the Newland siblings. There are three other books, each featuring one of the siblings, though they are not marketed as a series, they talk place in the same town, but are written all in a way where you don’t need back info on the siblings because they are not major characters. Just just get enough, and frankly that’s all you need.
This book follows Sean, the middle sibling of five, and how he is reconnected for his childhood crush/nemesis. I liked Sean, sure at first he seemed like your typical alpha male, but hot damn, as the story went on he turned out be to damn near perfection. Why are you fiction? Outside of his hotness, Sean did everything right with Amy, now get this, they had a healthy connection from the start, and there so no misunderstanding bull that made them split before finding out it was love all along. There was non of that stupid clichéness, this was a slow hot burn that built you up, just as much as it built Sean and Amy crazy connection and spark.
I loved the mystery and how it became a major plot point. It was a pushing point, and moved the story in the right direction. Sean and Amy’s romance was tied in nicely and felt like a side by side to a deeper love story, one that was lost in time and forbidden in a time when war was destroying lives, and when things weren’t accepted are they are now. That unfolding story was the true highlight. As much as I loved Sean and Amy, that sub plot in the mystery was, for me, the star of this epic tale.
This book is a super high recommendation from me, I had it read in one sitting, and believe me you will to. The unfolding history of Amy, for story, her strength, Sean with his smug hotness but heart of gold, and a mystery so deep and compelling that it takes a serious dark dangerous turn; because greed is sometimes stronger then common sense.
Happy Reading

I really enjoyed this book, and the learning of the past of the main character, Amy’s, family and their house and the secrets they kept.
Amy is finally moving back home, and renovating the home she inherited. From the very beginning she’s found surprises. Throw in a man from her past as her general contractor and we’ve got a great story.
I will admit it was slow just a tad in some places but overall I liked the flow and the story itself. Who knows what you may find out about family if you dig hard enough!

Covert Identities is a mystery/suspense/romance by Amabel Daniels. This book just sucked me in from the very first page. I love a good mystery with my romance. There were enough twists and turns to have me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Daniels and even though it is a stand alone, there are three other book that I was introduced to in this book. I plan on going back and reading those books next.
This book features, Amy Perry, who is a retired dancer that inherited a childhood home from her uncle. When she arrives to renovate her new house, she discovers her childhood nemesis, Sean, is the contractor working on the house. Their chemistry is off the charts and the mysteries start popping up to keep them in each other’s company. This is a great story of second chances!
Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels is the third book in the series and a romantic, mystery, suspense story that is a great story and not one to be missed. Covert Identities will keep you guessing as to what is around the corner and what is going to happen to our characters next. Mayhem and madness, chaos and secrets, lies and sadness are the name of the game in this book that Amabel has woven so well. What secrets can one house hold? Will uncovering one lead to more questions? Will they be able to put all the secrets together before one of them falls? Amabel certainly kept the surprises coming and kept you firmly engaged as you try and put all the pieces together. I really good read.
Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels is the story of Amy and Sean and the mysteries that they discover while rebuilding the summer home that was left to her. Amy was well known as a dancer but after a messy divorce she retreated to the one place that held most of her happy memories. It is there that she is reunited with her childhood nemesis, Sean, who has been hired to help with the renovations. This book kept me guessing from start to finish and had everything I was looking for. The plot was well thought out and the cast of characters were all enjoyable to read about. I definitely recommend this to fellow readers . Not my first book by the author and most definitely won’t be the last because I truly enjoy the writing style and storylines. This is definitely a five star worthy read and I’m glad I picked it up.
Amabel Daniel’s contemporary romantic suspense novel, Covert Identities, was a pleasure to read. The author instantly provides tension between characters within the few chapter(s) and then from there, it’s mass craziness, but done in a way that is perfectly set for this novel. The characters were fun, charming, strong and independent. The story plot and mystery within the pages was well laid out with hints of where the path may lead, but not necessarily the case. The author did a consistent job of entertaining the reader while maintaining engagement within the story. By the time I finished this story, I really liked how the author place the events that occurred throughout the story keeping you guessing and then how everything was tied together. Well done!!
This is an interesting story that really had me captivated until the last page. The believable characters and well written book full of drama, suspense, mystery and a great romance make this a must read. Love Sean and Amy’s crazy banter and the cat and mouse game they played but in the end love always wins.
A well-written story that kept my interest throughout the book, celebrity dancer Amy Perry has just gone through a nasty divorce and she has moved to the summerhouse her Uncle Henri willed her. The house is a mess so her step-father hires contractor Sean Newland to restore it, he’s her childhood nemesis. There is danger, suspense, drama, and an unexpected love. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

There was plenty going on to keep me engaged!
I loved Amy and Sean’s evolving relationship, all of their ups and downs felt so real! It’s very hard to write this review. Not sure why but this book didn’t draw me. I love all of Ms Daniels previous books. So i had high hopes for this one. But It just fell flat for me. It seems more of a mystery, with too many story lines ,and less of a romance.
About half way through it seemed to pick up the pace in the romance and mystery department. I just wasn’t able to connect with the characters and i really was unsure of the chemistry between the main couple. I almost wish this was more about the relationships between the main and secondary characters and less on the mysteries. I would have loved to learn more about Roman and Sean’s friendship.
Amy, Prima Ballerina, comes back to her hometown to open a dance studio. Her childhood neighbor and nemesis is hired to remodel her Uncles old home for her. Numerous characters appear to help or make this venture harder. Mystery surrounds her Uncles lifestyle and the dead body found in the shed. Will she get the answers she needs before everything comes tumbling down around her?
This story has the characters from her previous books in it ( Sean’s brothers) and we saw them a few times. It was nice to see them again.
I will say I have never read a book where a man goes shirtless so much….how does it Amy resist?? Rawr!
Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels is one of those books that delivers it all. Romance, suspense and some danger. I really had a hard time putting this book down. When I wasn’t reading I would find myself going back and thinking about it and trying to piece the puzzle together.
Amy and Sean are amazing together. They don’t take a normal path towards one another and I liked that. I absolutely fell in love with Balboa, that dog is amazing and I want him
This book delivered from the very beginning and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Daniels releases next.
This is my first book by this author. I thought it was well written, well thought out. The characters and storyline were great. It had enemies to friends to lovers, suspense, dead bodies and secrets. I enjoyed the read and recommend it to all. I received it as an arc and voluntarily reviewed it.
Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels is an entertaining and interesting story that will keep you reading to the end.
When Amy, celebrity dancer, is given a summer house by her uncle she knows it is the perfect opportunity. Heading out of the limelight following her nasty divorce the house will give her something to focus on.
What she didn’t expect however was to focus on the contractor who had been hired to work on the house. Her high school nemesis, Sean is the last person she expects to see. But they are determined to get the job done in a professional manner. Until things start to go awry. A body is found, a journal with secrets galore is uncovered and, perhaps even more surprising, they find a mutual interest in each other – one that might just be worth further exploration.
I found this book to be highly enjoyable. Entertaining I though Amy and Sean were great together. They brought a smile to my face more than once. The story was interesting and easy to read. A very good book.

The story Covert Identities by Amabel Daniels is a romantic suspense book. It is a story that hooked me in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put down until the final page. Reading this story is like putting together a puzzle. When reading I was wondering what was truly going on and what was going to happen next. It is also a story with two amazing main characters, Amy Perry and Sean Newland. These two have a history which had Sean portrayed as Amy’s nemesis. The bickering between them starts up and the conflict/tension can be felt. Amy is a woman who is looking for a fresh start. She is well-known as a celebrity dancer, however, her outlook on love has drastically changed. Sean is a man that had always wanted and looked for a happiness. Instead of finding the one, he has found rejection. The renovation project that has Amy and Sean at the same location soon takes an unexpected turn and a mystery is uncovered. They both are working to find out answers to questions that have been raised. Along the way how these two feel about each other begins to change. They both feel their attraction to each other growing stronger. With they find the answers that they are searching for? Will they solve the mystery? Amy is finding that she is trusting Sean. Will that include trusting him with her heart? This is a story that has some very steamy scenes that will have the temperature in the room rising. They are a couple that you can’t help but root for to find a happy ending together. There are also other secondary characters that are introduced which I enjoyed reading about. They help and support both Amy and Sean. This is a wonderfully written story that has characters that you will not soon forget. If you like your romance intertwined with a mystery this is the book for you!
This was my first book by Amabel Daniels and I enjoyed it. It was well written with interesting characters that kept my attention. The pacing flowed with the content. There were times where it was slow, like Amy’s search for answers about her Uncle Henri, while other times were faster paced. I liked that Amy and Sean had history, so this was definitely not an insta-love…more like a frenemies story, but were they really enemies at all? I liked how the author gave parts of Amy’s story, causing the reading to wonder what happened to her. Sean was the right man for the job. I enjoyed his character. His brothers were nice additions and it would be nice to know more about them.
