This was a fun story. Right from the start you know Nick is a lady killer. When he gets assigned a temporary stint with DFS, Shannon is resisting their attraction, and he ends up undercover as a mall Santa I couldn’t wait to read what came next. .I’m ready to start the next one!
I am a voracious reader and I am always looking for new authors. This is the first book I have read by Valerie Clarizio. I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read more by this author and especially with these characters. I always love mystery books with some romance thrown in. The humor is unexpected and I found myself laughing out loud. I would highly recommend this book!
This is a well written holiday mystery with strong characters in Nick and Shannon. The author brings danger and romance and does a great job painting her scenes and moving the story quickly and smoothly. I enjoyed reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Detective Nick Spinelli has lost his long time partner due to his retirement, so at the moment he doesn’t have a partner. His boss assigns him to work with Shannon O’Hara in the Social Services department. Nick is not happy about that! His job is to support Shannon as she is required to remove children from homes where they are not safe. They each have different ideas of how this should be done, and Nick makes an enemy of Shannon on their first call. Meanwhile, when Shannon doesn’t have a call to make Nick is helping out on a case involving the murder of a mall Santa Claus and an elf from the same store. When Nick discovers that Shannon is also working as Santa’s helper at the same place he begins to worry about her safety. He begins working undercover as the mall Santa so he can keep an eye on things.
This is the first book I have read by this author, but I will look forward to more. The characters are well developed and easy to relate to. Valerie has written an excellent book that is full of mystery, romance, and humor, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a quick read of a mystery with romance thrown in.
I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Nick and Shannon, what a pair they make, he a homicide detective and she is a social worker, two very different people but they have chemistry that Shannon tries to avoid, this is a romantic suspense and loved it from the first. Can’t wait to see what else Nick will be up to.
First book I have read by this author and I will be reading more and look forward to reading the next book in the series!
This is the first book I have read by Valerie J. Clarizio but it won’t be the last. It was a quick, enjoyable, sexy read. Detective Spinelli’s life is tossed sideways when he is reassigned from the Homicide division to assist in the Child Services division of the Social Services Department for the holiday season. In the beginning Nick and Shannon did not hit it off but there was definitely chemistry between the two. Shannon worked part-time as a Santa’s elf in the mall and an elf and 1 of the Santa’s were murdered. Nick helps solve the murder mystery. I loved Nick and Shannon. Can’t wait to read the rest and see how their story continue.
Covert Exposure is a wonderful romantic suspense novel. Take a hard bitten homicide detective and assign him to a soft hearted social services worker who sets his libido on fire. He rediscovers his heart and she learns to let go. When two people close to her are murdered it’s up to Spinelli to find the killer and keep her safe. I enjoyed this story by new to me author Valerie J. Clarizio but will definitely be getting the next book in this series.
Covert Exposure is the first book in the Nick Spinelli Mystery series and is a good start to this new series. This romantic suspense story is lighthearted and fun to read, with likable characters, humour, and danger.
I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
I enjoyed this short read- look forward to reading more in this series.
This book introduces us to Nick- a cop, who has been reassigned from the homicide department to work with Shannon, a social worked during the hectic holiday season.
This book had lots of funny moments & some sexy times between Nick & Shannon.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
#1 in the Nick Spinelli series-this is a quick read with a little mystery and more romance. Homicide detective Nick Spinelli has been reassigned to help the Social Services Department where he meets caseworker Shannon O’Hara during the Christmas season. Meanwhile a mall Santa and his elves are turning up dead and Shannon may be next since she spends after hours working as an elf. I enjoyed the romantic tension between the 2 main characters, as well as the holiday theme.
(I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion.)
Spinelli now without a partner has been reassigned to the Child Service Department temporarily for the holidays. Along with a red hair beauty Shannon, who thinks he is aloof and uncaring about the children they have to deal with is now his partner. Until a murder happen and she needs protection with being a Santa helper. Cute story.
Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
This is very cute and quick holiday mystery. Homicide Detective, Nick Spinelli is reassigned to the Social Services Department during the holiday season. He is working alongside social worker, Shannon O’Hara, who is a tenderhearted individual. Nick is a little more hardened due to his childhood and his method of dealing with domestic situations is a little different from Shannon’s. They bump heads immediately, but when Santa is killed at the mall, and Shannon has been working a part-time job as Santa’s helper, Nick knows he must go undercover to protect her. There is good sexual tension between the two characters and the mystery plays out nicely. I enjoyed the scenes where Shannon and Nick worked together and it gives an inside view of what a social worker deals with on a daily basis. Overall, this short entertaining holiday mystery includes romance, a dead Santa, shifty elves, a henchman, and a happy-ending.
Nick Spinelli is a homicide detective who loves his job but his partner has retired and he will s now without a partner. Since he has no partner now in the homicide division he is told he will be reassigned to child services. Nick is paired with a beautiful social worker who is as fiery as her red hair but she doesn’t seem to really care to work with Nick. She thinks he is uncaring and feels no empathy for the children in the foster system. Turns out that Nick is investigating a murder of a Santa Claus and an elf at a store where Shannon the social worker is also an elf. Is she is suspect? Is the reason she doesn’t like Nick due to the fact that he is investigating this murder?
Great book!!! Must read!!!!
This is a pretty spectacular story. Nick is a homicide detective who really loves his job. Shannon works with social services and just wants to help as many children as possible. When the two are paired to work together they rebel. They are drawn to each other but refuse to acknowledge the attraction at first. A murder draws them close and brings out all the protective urges in Nick. Solving the case brings the beginning of a beautiful relationship between the two.
>Book Review – Covert Exposure
>I am an independent reviewer. This novella is the 1st in the Nick Spinelli Mystery series. Nick is a homicide cop who gets paired with Shannon, a social services case worker. There isn’t any backstory or real character development on Shannon. We are told a bit of Nick’s backstory, as an explanation of his rough behavior. I did like the realism when Nick and Shannon go to homes for child visits. I felt it was unrealistic to have Shannon take the kids and immediately have them placed in a foster home.
>The scenes with Nick playing Santa were really funny, however the chemistry between Nick and Shannon was more lust than anything to do with a blossoming relationship. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 3 stars. I hope the next books in the series work on the couple more.
Covert Exposure is the first book in the A Nick Spinelli Mystery Series. Another winner from Valerie Clarizio.
This book draws you in right from the beginning
And does not disappoint!
Detective Nick Spinelli’s boss needs to place him with Social Worker, Shannon in Child Services in a temporary position. Nick Is not happy with this change; however, he can still assist in his Homicide Department when not busy going on
calls with Shannon. They get off to a rocky start,
Again, as in Valerie’s other novels, you can picture her wonderfully described characters and scenes. Drama unfolds throughout the entire story, as well as romance.
I would recommend reading this action packed and romance novel!
Good solid read. Well written.
