An excellent murder mystery that lasts right to the end. Recommend.
Loved Ollie, such a character for a ‘bad guy’ you really have to meet him. And Rosswell is just a strange and wonderful character. I enjoyed this so much I had to read the 2nd book immediately.
The story is powerful, I like how it was presented. Good job writer! If you have some great stories like this one, you can publish it on N0velStar, just submit your story to [email protected] or [email protected]
I was intrigued immediately with the location and setting of the story. Growing up just across the river in Illinois I have been to Bollinger County MO and loved hearing familiar town names. The story is quirky, fun, and an easy read with many many dysfunctional characters. As the story twists and turns it’s comical at times and cringe worthy at other times.
I’m headed back to find book two and beyond. I even looked up the author on Facebook and his Facebook posts are pretty comical as well. I would say having been a judge for real he has many stories he could tell.
There were some interesting parts in this book. Overall I was incredibly disappointed. If you like a nice neat ending, don’t read this book.
The plot was well shadowed within the various characters.
I have not read it yet
This book didn’t do it for me. Not enough character building in the beginning for the judge character. I had a hard time understanding if he was 35 or 65. I got too bogged down in the number of people involved in the story.
Judge Carew is an interesting character. Made for an interesting book that held my interest.
excellent read.
Couldn’t stop reading once I started
I gave it three stars. Not quite sure how I feel about any of the characters in the book. I’ll get the next in the series and hopefully get to know them better.
Didn’t get too far, as it was rather uninteresting to me. The writing seemed flat, the characters shallowly drawn.
Hard to get through, slow at times.
A small-town judge finds two bodies in a state park and this triggers an investigation. The judge becomes intimately involved in the investigation, to the dismay of the sheriff. There are a number of interesting twists and turns which leave the reader wondering “who dun it”.
Author almost tried too hard to make all things and characters quirky. Hard to stay on track.
Was a strange group of investigtors: a judge, a convict and a police chief. I enjoyed reading.
It started out so well, I thought I discovered a new writer. But the characters became one dimensional, where the most creative parts of each was their name.
The main character, a judge, discovers two bodies and reports this immediately. But he refuses to stay out of the investigation. What at first was funny became annoying as he suspected, and tried to arrest, every person in town. There is no clear ending, meaning one will have to order the next book To find out what happens. I don’t think I can handle another book with Judge Roswell.
I enjoyed the flawed but determined judge, who would not give up under social and legal pressure. Author described the characters well, got a little complex at times and wanted it to move on. Still a funny and entertaining cozy mystery.
Seriously written with a touch of humor. I loved it!!
