Loved reading the start to this series. It is all about Sunny being convinced my her mother, Anna, to come back home from CA to help with the mystery of what Jack’s cattle died. The town vet ran off and she needs to come to save the day. Her mom leaves out a few details like Jack did not ask her to come and help. She brings her dog, an Irish wolfhound and lab mix, named Simba with her. Simba likes to lick people. I get this as my lab likes to lick. Sunny moves into Jack’s house on the ranch and starts work on finding out what’s going on. While there she starts a relationship with Jack’s daughter Tori. Between Simba and Sunny and her Texas sweetheart friends, they bring Tori out of her shell. The reason why Tori is traumatized is revealed at the very end. I did not see that coming. As the the problem with the cows, I did see where that was going but that’s okay as it was fun to read about how Sunny and Jack’s relationship developed. I’m planning on reading the series.
This was a great start in a new series. It was sweet and wholesome and very well written. Overall a great second chance romance. Love the small town vibe – very realistic. Jack and Sunny were just perfect for each other. They have a great connection and chemistry. The characters are strong, well written, developed and likable. The plot was entertaining and this book just really drew me in. I can’t wait to read the next in the series.
