Easy and fun to read.
Just No!
I hate liars and that’s what Miranda was as far as I’m concerned. She kept sayin’ she was going to tell Justin her divorce wasn’t final yet before their relationship went to far but she kept chickening out, but at 49 percent when she decided to take that final step- without telling him- I quit. And she never told anyone that her husband abused her so it’ll be a case of ‘he said, she said’, and you just know the ex is going to show up and Justin will end up upset and humiliated. My stomach was tied in knots from about the 25 percent mark when we first find out until I stopped, there was no way I was going on from there. I don’t care if things eventually work out- as far as I’m concerned she’s a deceitful liar. No thanks.
Well developed story and characters!
Light, easy read with enjoyable characters.
Country Thunder is the second book in the King Creek Cowboys series and can be read as a standalone. This story centers on Justin McLeod, his daughter Kaycee, and horse therapist, Miranda Hawthorne. It is a charming read with likable characters, a well-written storyline, great chemistry, family interaction, humor, drama, suspense, and romance.
Miranda is a recent transplant from Texas and is working on getting her horse therapy business up and running. Leaving her violent ex, family, and friends behind she is hoping to start fresh and make a name for herself, along with new memories, in King Creek and so far she is off to a great start. She is enjoying the town and the residents and has clients booked for months; now only if she could shake the awful memories that still plague her and her ex would leave her be, she might finally be happy. Things start looking up when Justin McLeod registers his daughter for therapy lessons. Kaycee was thrown from his horse several months prior and injured and is now fearful of something she has always loved. Justin is hoping with Miranda’s help Kaycee will be back in the saddle again soon. Neither of them expected the instant attraction and sparks to fly upon meeting and while Justin is determined to get closer, Miranda is just as determined to keep her distance. When she finally decides to take a chance things heat up quickly and Miranda does not know how to reveal her secret without pushing Justin away. When the situation is taken out of her hands and she and Justin are both confronted by her past Miranda is afraid that everything she has accomplished will crumble making Justin and their love a bittersweet memory.
This is a really great story from start to finish and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I really enjoyed this story. I loved Miranda and Justin. Kaycee was also a sweet young girl. I think this is now my fav in the series so far. Can’t wait for more.
Country Thunder is the second book in Cheyenne McCray’s King Creek Cowboys and a wonderful feel good story of a single Dad’s love and devotion for his daughter, and the unexpected and enticing woman who helps this adorable child overcome her fears.
Justin is a proud and respected member of the community, and finds his attraction to the wary Miranda impossible to ignore. But what’s man to do, when the woman who has unknowingly taken up his every spare thought, is gun shy from a previous relationship? Neither party is lacking in determination, but Justin is compelled to be the winner in the battle to breach Miranda’s defences.
The storyline had an easy ebb and flow and the character portrayals were believable and well-developed too. This is a quick and enjoyable read that leaves the reader eager for more of Ms McCray’s engaging and sexy Cowboys!
I’ve been a fan of McCray’s for what seems like forever. I just love her writing. She such great characters, ones you want to know more about.
We all know how much I love a cowboy and Justin is a special one. He took in his stepdaughter when her mother passed. It just gives you a warm feeling. We all know my Achilles heel is men with kids. They are just such a turn on.
Since this is a shorter story most of it moves very quickly which I liked. I like it when a story moves.
I also really like Miranda too. She’s very sweet and has gone through much in the last couple of years. I didn’t really blame her for keeping it all private even from her parents. Of course, it didn’t help her cause any to do so.
For the most part, this is a fun, well-written story with likable characters that cause you to want to know more about this family. I did wish the author add more togetherness with the daughter and both of them. I feel it would have given us more of a family vibe. I also didn’t care how Justine handle hearing about her divorce papers. Saying she made a mistake set me off. You’ll have to read it to understand why I don’t want to ruin anything.
Other than those two minor issues I enjoyed it and want more of this family. Of course, I wish she’d go back and write about the levels but that doesn’t seem to happen. We can always hope. If you’re into paranormal check them out. So good.
This was a super nice Insta love romance with a little bit of grit thrown in to balance the sweetness.
Loved the character.
Pleasant read
Miranda Hawthorne is new in the town of King Creek .. a horse therapist who works with kids and those with disabilities. Because of an abusive husband, she had had enough, filed for divorce and fled to where she resides now.
One of her new clients is a 12-year-old girl, Kaycee, who used to love riding horses. She got thrown and broke her collarbone. Since then, she doesn’t want anything to do with horses. Her father sets her up to see Miranda, to see if she can help her daughter get over her fear.
When Miranda meets the girl’s father, Justin McLeod, she is instantly attracted. Still waiting for her divorce papers, she is determined to keep her distance. She’s still trying to get over her last relationship ..she’s not near ready to start a new one.
But Justin is just as determined to get through her barriers and show her how much she means to him. The fly in the ointment … he doesn’t know that she is still married.
This is a well written sizzling contemporary romance with extremely likeable characters. There is a little suspense surrounding Miranda’s still-husband, otherwise a steamy romantic romp. The intimate interludes sizzle like an Arizona summer …. which is where this story is situated. It’s a short read … great for a lazy afternoon of reading.
Many thanks to the author for the digital copy of this Western Romance. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
