From WSJ bestselling romance author Winter Renshaw comes an angsty small town romance with a twist you won’t see coming…When some pretty little thing shows up at my doorstep with a suitcase, claiming she rented my house for the summer, I waste no time informing her that my house isn’t for rent. Some Internet jack@ss scammed her out of all her money, but that’s not my problem. Only when I find … problem.
Only when I find her sleeping in her car a couple days later, I can’t turn my back. I make her an offer: room and board in exchange for working on my ranch.
She agrees–not like she has a choice–and I open my doors to a girl who sings too loud, sticks her nose where it doesn’t belong, and distracts me with her tight jeans and those full, f*ckable lips.
I keep her at an arm’s length, and for good reason. I don’t deserve happiness. And I don’t deserve her.
But when those hot summer days melt into long country nights, I find it hard to keep my hands off of her, even when I know they don’t belong there. My mouth on hers, her body on mine, that glimmer in her big brown eyes when she looks at me like I’ve hung the moon …
For the first time in years, my frozen heart beats again. And when I look at her, I’m reminded that I’m still alive, that maybe all isn’t lost. And when I kiss her, I’m not thinking about the past anymore, I’m picturing the two of us. A future.
But people around here like to talk and rumors are alive and well, and some folks are out to convince her I’m a monster with a sordid past.
And maybe I am …

Great love story.
Love when you least expect it or think you deserve it is an extra special gift. When Leighton and River’s paths cross in an unusual circumstances there is no spark, there is no attraction, but there is a shimmer of kindness that manages to take root and grow into something truly special.
This story grabs you at the beginning and doesn’t let you go. There are all kinds of surprises, good and not so good throughout the story that keep you interested in these characters. Leighton is looking to get away from a cheating fiance and finds herself on the front porch of her childhood home. River, the current owner of that home is a brooding, gruff cowboy who is mad at the universe for his unfortunate and tragic life. I love Leighton’s determination to have River live life not just move through it. River’s pain regarding his past is palpable at times and Leighton’s mission of becoming his friend saves him. Their exchanges are fun, clever and engaging.
A beautiful story that celebrates the people Leighton and River have lost and treasure in their hearts while they are blessed to be given another chance at love with each other. I highly recommend reading this one!
This book was so much more than I could have expected. I really enjoyed all the emotions these pages brought out. I loved how Layton and River came together through a world of heartache. This story was excellent.
I wasn’t expecting to get what I got from this book. I don’t pick up a lot of books with small-town themes, country boys, and everything in between. That’s my real life, that’s what I live every day. I want to read to escape. I want to go and live an adventure that I will never live in real life. That’s why I tend to steer clear of things that are local to me – like country boys and small towns.
I’m so glad I did pick this one up. The feels were terrific, the story was consuming, and I could not put it down. I’m heading now to catch up on her other books. I loved her writing, and I want to get my hands on more of it.
I am amazed with little town romance… full of angst.. sassy.. country living with humble smiles.. humble people and great food…
Leighton who is trying to move on from old relationship.. moving back to her chilhood home never knew that those decision will open to a new life and adventure.. River is a mysterious rugged man.. sexy to the bone with few wods spoken… hardworker..with a big genuine heart…
Secret…A lot of unspeakable pain between River and Leighton… it took a lot for each of them to show how they feel… No man can go through pain like River… to be able to open himself and let alone to fall in love… its painstaking yet loving in the most genuine…
I love how Winter describe the romance… little knick knack in the small town.. how can you not loving a drive thru movie theater? Leighton being a sassy.. carefree… simple small town girl.. she belong with River.. no non sense with maserati and expensive gucci shoes can define a woman…for Leigh.. a simple cowboy boots would do just fine 😉
The romance is sexy…. hellooo sexy farmer.. with abs and tons body.. im drooling over River!
Winter Renshaw has done it again for me, I absolutely loved this book and read it in one sitting I couldn’t put it down, I loved everything about this story. For me is was two broken souls, second chance at love and had that little bit of mystery of secrets and I couldn’t put it down until I read the whole lot.
Leighton had pretty much the worst 48hrs anyone to could ask for and it didn’t seem like anything was going to work out for her, but being the strong character she was and even with her problems the joy she brought to the book was what made the book so good.
The thing I loved about River was he was broody, moody, shut off from the world and just wanted to live in peace even though it was a very lonely life. He had very good reasons for this as we find out throughout the book but I really loved seeing this character come back to life.
I loved Molly and her five boys, hated Seth with every fibre of my being he made me so angry but I laughed, I cried, I was excited throughout this book, it had a fantastic story.
If you like cowboys, an awesome storyline, easy but awesome writing then you need to get yourself a copy of this book you hopefully won’t be disappointed because I wasn’t at all loved it loved it loved it.
5+++++++ stars for me
I can definitely recommend this book. It is one of the best books I have ever read.
Country Nights by Winter Renshaw
This is Leighton Hart and River McCray’s story.
River doesn’t smile anymore. He doesn’t feel he deserves happiness. One day Leighton shows up and he winds up offering her a place to stay for helping him around the farm. Leighton has ghost of her own. They have suffered so much heartache in their lives will they be able to overcome them in order to have a second chance at love?
This is a wonderful, emotional, sensual, and heartfelt story with twists and surprises. I fell in love with River and Leighton’s characters and could feel their emotions. River’s name is just perfect for him. The supporting characters were a great addition to the story. I loved the description of the farm. A great read for anytime and one that I couldn’t put down.
