IDK it wouldn’t let me read it!
I am particularly passionate about Hallmark films and now I am addicted to books.
Jemma started his activities with her left foot in her new home. After losing her boyfriend and job at the same time, she decides to venture into a temporary job in a school in a small country town.
What she didn’t imagine was falling in love for a cute horse, for the cowboy and his daughter and for everyone in this beautiful community. She mingles so well with everyone that she believes she has found the place of her dreams to call home.
A beautiful love story full of cute moments, fun kids and a beautiful ending.
5/5 stars
Such a lovely story. A horse with a carrot fetish creates a great meet-cute! Jemma is the sub teacher for third graders. She is from the city but the town and children fall in love with her, especially Bailey Rae. Wyatt, Bailey Rae’s, dad struggles with opening his heart to Jemma but the town and Bailey Rae soon work their magic.
It has been awhile since I’ve read such a sweet, innocent book and I was surprised to realize that it was Hallmark. There is no excessive romance gush or the token sex scene. Then on the flip side, it wasn’t typical to my Christian romance where you have church and Biblical verses. It was a nice clean book and I enjoyed it.
The story is about Jemma Moore who ends up in a small town to teach temporarily. From the big city, this new world is a complete opposite. In turn, when she’s introduced to her country neighbor, who’s daughter just happens to be in her class, she’s unaware of the attraction that soon builds between the two. But there’s a problem, she’s in town only as a substitute and will eventually return back to her home in the city.
The story, as mentioned before, was super clean and sweet. I can easily see how these stories can turn into movies, but to be honest, I’d rather read the book than watch a sappy movie.
All in all, I would definitely read another book by Hallmark Publishing and have already started on a second.
Sweet love story full of hope and love . Sexy, single cowboy Wyatt falls for his sweet neighbor and daughters teacher. Wyatt and Jemma are so sweet together and it takes Wyatt a little while to realize that Jemma is the one. And Bailey Rae is a breathe of fresh air thrown into the mix.
A good reminder that sometimes wishes do come true.
Wonderful, sweet story…..need to have more stories like this.
Liked it was nice not being filled with swear words.
Great book to read!
Country Hearts is the latest novel by Cindi Madsen. Elementary teacher Jemma Monroe has taken a position in small Haven Lake, Colorado, after being downsized at her Denver school. At least she has a rental cottage and a short term position while a third grade teacher is on maternity leave. While in this small town, Jemma will complete her master’s degree coursework while she fulfills this contract.
Just down the road lives single father Wyatt Langford and his daughter, Bailey Rae. Wyatt meets Jemma when his horse, Casper, escapes and heads to the home where the previous owner fed him carrots. Their next meeting happens on the first day of school when Jemma’s car ends up in a ditch when she fishtails on a snowy road. This is also when Jemma meets the adorable Bailey Rae, who turns out to be in her class.
Wyatt’s wife had decided three years ago that it was too quite in Haven Lake, left the two of them, leading to their divorce. Jemma, also a city girl, though intriguing, is not what he is seeking. In fact, Wyatt is resigned to a single life raising his daughter and running his ranch. But this woman is making it difficult to stick to his plan.
In this delightful story, Cindi Madsen portrays a modern tale of what comes next after your earlier plans fall apart. With heart and humor, Ms. Madsen shines love and hope on a dismal future. With rich characters and critters, this story made me smile and brought tears to my eyes. I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it!
A sweet tale that was a delight to help me pass a long drive. Between the horse, the corn snake and Senor Fluffy Pants, I was truly laughing out loud. I loved Jemma’s sass and her willingness to bring the city to the heart of the country. Wyatt is a lovable local who happens to be the single dad of the student Jemma is most endeared to. I am looking forward to trying out some of the coffee inspirations and can’t wait to see this one as a movie.
Great story of a love that blossoms as a result of being neighborly and the help of four-legged creatures!
Cindi has done a brilliant job with this sweet and heart-warming read. Single Parent romances are one of my favourite tropes and this was a good one. I was instantly drawn in with Jemma and Wyatt. Their banter was thoroughly entertaining and witty. Add in Bailey Rae and that’s it my heart is full. You will honestly be able to devour this beauty in one sitting.
What an absolutely darling story. The characters were wonderful and the community sounded like such a nice place. Jemma takes a temporary job in Haven Lake after being downsized and misinterpreting a man’s friendship. She is a city girl and has a few adjustments to make. Wyatt is a single Dad that is trying to protect his daughter from heartbreak.
The story kept my attention and moved swiftly. There were places where I laughed, such as the horse who knocks on Jemma’s door the first night and her bunny Senor Fluffypants. There were was also the underlying story of kindness. Kindness from the community who welcomed Jemma, but also Jemma’s love for her students.
This is a clean, sweet romance. Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and offer my honest review.
Country Hearts is a contemporary cowboy romance. Wyatt Langford is the grouchy recluse who is guarded after his exwife left him and his daughter Bailey Rae for the city. Bailey Rae is the cutest 8 year old that is wiser than her years with an eclectic choice in wardrobe. Jemma Monroe arrives in Haven Lake as a temporary 3rd grade teacher. She falls in love with her new next door neighbor Wyatt and his daughter. Jemma learns about the small town rumor mill and ends up fallen in love with the entire town. But will Wyatt admit his love for Jemma before her temporary position is up? You will have to read Country Hearts to find out!
I enjoyed this small town romance. At times the story was laugh out loud funny. This story has quite the cast of characters that you will love. Thank you to Cindi Madsen and Hallmark Publishing for an ebook and this is my honest review.
Country Hearts will likely appeal to readers who are looking for a small town, very slow paced, light hearted Hallmark Channel romantic read. It features a sugary, sweet heroine and handsome, well liked by the community, but at times a “Mr. Grumpy Bear” hero. He’s a single cowboy daddy with a lot on his plate, at least that’s what we are repeatedly told. When you include a rabbit owned by Jemma, the heroine, named Mr. Fluffy Pants, I couldn’t help but think she would likely give Watt, the hero, that nickname for being grouchy towards her when they first met.
I’m a huge fan of sweet, folks. I don’t need steamy pages to feel chemistry/a romantic connection between the main couple. I am an emotional, avid at heart romance reader. Hallmark and I go way back, and I’m a fan. What I do need is an engaging plot/writing that feels original. I just didn’t feel that I found that consistently here. Here’s to hoping it was just me and others really enjoy it. I wish this author continued writing success. I do believe she has stepped outside her normal steamy romance genre. She wowed me with Nailed It, The Bad Boy’s Baby (Hope Springs), and The Wedding Deal. The back and forth banter in those were great but not so much here. This book just didn’t have that something special I need to win me over. By 50%, I found myself very bored and still waiting for anything significant to happen. At 65%, it still had not and the awkward, too shy/afraid to admit their feelings/attraction combined with overly drawn out dialogues and mental musings were enough reason for me to stop reading altogether.

I loved this! It has a terrific cast of small country town characters, the kind who are in each other’s business and take pleasure in helping every neighbor get their love life in order. It’s a case of accidentally falling in love at its finest.
I voluntarily read an advanced review copy provided by the publisher and I offer my honest opinion in response.
4.5 Stars for Country Hearts
Jemma Monroe has just been laid off from her teaching job in the city and needing to earn a living she takes the first available teaching job which happens to be in a small town and she now finds hers days filled with cowboys and livestock as well small children …..
Wyatt Langford’s world is all about his young daughter Bailey Rae she is all that matters to him after his wife left him for a life in the big city. Making Bailey Rae happy is his number one priority and he doesn’t need a city girl coming into his or Bailey Rae’s life ……….
So what happens when he butts head with his daughters teacher……
This small town romance is well written with characters I loved, Bailey Rae had me smiling and giggling from the first page and I loved seeing Jemma break down Wyatt’s defensive wall. This was an enjoyable entertaining read with just the right mix of love and humour. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
Country Hearts is a well-written romance that is fun and pulls on your heartstrings. Wyatt and Jemma are meant to be together if only they can both figure that out. Thankfully, they have some help from the residents of the small town, and especially from Wyatt’s adorable daughter Bailey Rae. You can’t help but falling for this adorable third grader. And, just wait until you meet Casper (an animal, not a ghost). Yes, horses will really go up on other people’s porches–ours did. There is a perfect HEA for this book. I highly recommend this book to readers of clean/wholesome romance that want an emotionally satisfying story. I received a complimentary copy. I chose to write a review and share my opinion of this excellent romance.
3.5 stars.
This was super cute!
We have Jemma and Wyatt; they meet through Wyatt’s daughter, who’s a student of Jemma, the new substitute teacher.
Sparks fly from the start, but since they are in an awkward situation, It’s not easy for them to get involve, particularly if Jemma is there temporarily.
I liked both these characters, they both had issues with love in their pasts, but as the attraction grew, all those reservation started to feel weak. I loved seeing Wyatt with his daughter, such a sweet relationship. And of course, Jemma was also great with kids.
The rest of the characters were funny and meddlesome, lol, as you would expect for a small town. 😉
All in all, this was a lovely story. <3
