A second chance… A scandal ended the careers of the Wilder Sisters, the chart topping country rock band. But Lexi Wilder is okay with that, thanks for asking. She’s been on the road since roughly forever, so she’s going to enjoy the break. After all, there’s nothing quite like the beautiful sandy beaches of Monterey Bay to soothe a woman’s soul.
Luke Wyatt never wanted to trade fame and fortune for the only woman he’s ever loved. Now that he’s finished a punishing year-long national tour he’s headed back to his hometown of Whistle Cove for the quiet, the beaches, the inspiration, and the girl. Not necessarily in that order. Nashville wants more country gold like the #1 song he co-wrote with Lexi. Luke is looking for peace and Lexi.
But Lexi hasn’t forgiven him for choosing fame over her…
“Country Gold is a chart topper! Heatherly Bell two-steps her new series onto the stage with a sweet but realistic love story. The juxtaposition between Lexi and Luke is unique, as she has spent most of her life on stage and his fame is almost a fluke. Lexi’s burn-out is palpable, as if her heartbreak, dimming Luke’s hopes of patching things up between them. You don’t have to like country music to love this couple and their happily ever after. ” ~ 4 stars, In’Dtale magazine, November 2018 issue
“If you love Alphas, you will LOVE Luke.” ~ Goodreads reade

I really loved this book! The author’s style is quirky and intelligent, the characters are really relatable and you find yourself experiencing the twists and turns of the story right along with them. It’s a unique and touching romance about the music industry, and chasing your dreams, and what to do when those dreams don’t turn out quite the way you thought they would. I also loved the secondary characters in this book and can’t wait to learn more about them in future stories!
This was a really good start to the New ‘Wilder Sisters’ Series by Ms. Bell. I enjoyed the characters and the story line. Lexi and Luke both return home to Whistle Cove for a much needed and well deserved break from their Musical Careers. Though they are being pressured to make more music together, Lexi can’t forgive Luke for choosing music over her. Will she end giving in to his persistence?
Wow! I wasn’t really sure what to expect with this story. Country Gold is the first in the Wilder Sisters series by Ms. Bell. It is also the first book I’ve read by Ms. Bell. This is the second chance story of Lexi Wilder and Luke Wyatt. Lexi and her sisters became country gold at an early age and it seems that they were on tour their entire lives. But all of that ended with The Scandal. Luke was a roadie for the sisters, then became a backup singer/guitarist until he was finally noticed and was offered a chance to have his own band and go on tour.
It really isn’t entirely correct to say that Luke chose his career over Lexi. He didn’t. She totally supported him going out on his own and encouraged him to do so. Luke wanted Lexi to go on tour with him, but she declined. He thought their relationship was strong enough to withstand the pressures of being on the road and apart from one another. After all, Lexi was more than familiar with touring and all that it entailed. But their relationship couldn’t withstand the rigors of the road and it was both of their faults. It’s been a year and Luke is done with his tour. He’s headed home to reestablish the relationship, to remind Lexi of how good they are for one another. He’s ready to put it all on the line because all the fame and fortune isn’t worth it without Lexi by his side.
Nothing really new in this one, but the characters are wonderful and each couples’ story is unique. Luke and Lexi’s story is no different. It’s unique. It’s heartwarming. It’s fun. It’s entertaining.
Country Gold: Lexi and Luke’s story. I loved this one! These two are perfect together and Luke obviously cares about her family as much as he does Lexi. These two were together for several years while Luke was working first as a roadie then as a backup musician for The Wilder Sisters band (Lexi played guitar and wrote their songs). Youngest sister Sabrina makes the mistake of sending a topless photo to a guy she thought she could trust and he in turn sold it to a tabloid. Thus effectively ending the girls career. Luke is given the opportunity to become a solo artist and is a huge hit – thanks in large part to a song he penned with Lexi. Luke has never been on the receiving end of overwhelming (and unwanted) attention from adoring female fans so he doesn’t initially handle fame all that well in the beginning. Lexi had the buffer of her family to protect her from a lot of that while she and her sister were touring, however, when she’s at home and it’s Luke who is now thrust into the limelight and struggling with overly eager fans well… let’s just say she doesn’t handle it the way she should. After wrapping his tour Luke returns to his hometown to win Lexi back and prove that she’s always been the only one for him.
Enjoyed the romance between Lexi and Luke, and look forward to the rest of the Wilder sisters.
Loved this story.
Let me start by saying I loved Luke. He’s sweet and charming and he completely adores Lexi. Lexi on the other hand drove me to distraction. She absolutely still loves Luke, but she’s bitter and vindictive and blames him for problems she’s more than half the cause of. This pair certainly has chemistry. The sparks between them sizzle from the page, and they don’t even have to be in the scene together for the reader to feel it. I started this series because I received a review copy for the third sister, and I hate starting a series anywhere other than the beginning. I’m glad I started here. These are some fascinating characters and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next for them.
I read a borrowed copy of this book.
4 stars
Country Gold will weave its magic on you the way good (country) music does on your soul. I grew up on country music, it’s storytelling set to music and as a small town girl, it usually tells the story of my life, so Ms. Bell did a great job writing a book that feels authentic and real.
The Wilder Sisters were a squeaky clean country band at the top of their game until their fans turned on them. Sporting a super clean, purity brand, things went awry when a sex scandal broke with one of the girls. Now the sisters are hiding out and trying to keep their grandmother’s B&B afloat in beautiful Monterey Bay. (Heck of a place to be exiled!) Lexi, the oldest sister and resident song writer of the group, finds her inspiration has also taken a hiatus. The words which once flowed from her have been silent for the year that she and her boyfriend have been apart.
Luke Wyatt owes his career to the Wilder Sisters. As the son of a felon in a small town, he wore the resident bad boy label before he could do anything about it except live up to it. Few people ever saw deep enough to recognize the passion and talent underneath, except Lexi, who convinced her manager dad to allow him to roadie for them and later had him join their band. When the scandal hit, his star skyrocketed to the top as the sister’s fell. Luke’s relationship with Lexi hit the skids too and it’s his biggest regret. His tour has recently ended, he needs a break and he has every intention of getting her back. She’s not going to make it easy on him but he’s ready for the fight and she’s worth the effort.
This book is a lovely second chance novel with a great redemptive thread. The sisters and Luke were great characters with lots of depth. I related to and enjoyed the story on several levels! I see great things for this series! Great read!

With the first book in her new Wilder Sisters series, Heatherly Bell brings us Lexi’s story. We see her come face to face with her old boyfriend and get a front row seat as he tries to rekindle their flame. The premise of the story is interesting and the characters were quick to grab my attention. I would have preferred a little more depth to the backstory of their relationship and the timespan, etc. to give me a deeper picture, but overall a satisfying read. Looking forward to the sister’s stories!
Country newcomer Luke Wyatt is coming down off of the high of his first big country-wide tour, and he’s exhausted. His body aches, his mind is burned out and his heart hurts from the empty hole she left behind. He knows he needs to get on the songs everyone is stressing him to write, but his first stop has to be home. Whistle Cove, California … and her. He has to make her see she’s everything … and then he can get back on the path of his future.
Lexi Wilder was once part of a big country sensation herself … until scandal brought them down faster than they could turn around. Now running her Gran’s B & B is keeping her busy while she pretends not to notice all the headlines about him … the one that was too busy to be bothered with her once she wasn’t there by his side anymore … the one who with all of the women clamoring for his attention.
I was hooked on this book from the very beginning. Luke was your sexy country singer that was portrayed as a bad boy by the industry but really was just a small town guy in love with a girl. Lexi was part of a country singing girl group with her sisters that fell from grace by a scandal involving her sister. Lexi and her sister retreated to their hometown and ran the family’s b&b while lying low. After his tour ends Luke needs time to rest and regroup plus he needed to show Lexi that he is ready to put her first after being thrust into the spotlight and not knowing how to handle it. Lexi gave him a hard time kind of when he showed up to stay at the b&b but since she was still in love with him she couldn’t stay away. You could feel the chemistry between Luke and Lexi right away even if she was annoyed he showed up on her doorstep. Luke got Lexi to embrace her music roots again and it opened her up to writing music when she was at a standstill. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for Lexi’s sisters books. This was an excellent start to a new series.

Review by Danielle for Janise’s Jivin’ Book Blog
Country Gold is my first read by Heatherly Bell. I have to say I fell I love with Country Gold from page one. Heatherly really had me feeling like I was there with the characters and feeling the emotions that they felt. She really made you feel like you was on that tour bus with Luke and his band at the beginning.
One of my favorite things about this story is that I could relate to Lexi. We share some things that are similar. There was a quote at the beginning of every chapter that really related to what was happening in that chapter. I liked that part. My favorite quote is: ” Dear Heart: stop getting involved in everything. Your job is to pump blood. That’s it” – Meme”
I would definally read another story by Heatherly Bell.
Country Gold is about Luke Wyatt who is a country singer who just ended his year long tour. Lexi Wilder runs a B & B with her sisters and grandmother. Lexi and Luke write a song together and they were in love. Want to know about Lexi and Luke and find out what happens, you will have to check out Country Gold… It is a must read and I really think you will enjoy the book.
Heatherly Bell tops the charts with her story of the romance between country stars Luke and Lexi. Bell does a fabulous job of keeping the romantic tension going. Her use of scenery captures the reader and enhances the story. I can’t wait to read the next novels in this series!
This book is the start of the new series , Wilder Sisters. This one belongs to Lexi Wilder , the oldest of the sisters and the one that is the caretaker of the family. She and her siblings had been one of the most successful girl country bands, until a sex scandal destroyed their image and the band. Now they are trying to keep afloat their grandmother’s B & B in a small town in California.
Luke Wyatt who used to work for them and also was Lexi’s one true love, has been gone for a year . He is now an up and coming Country singer thanks to a song he co-wrote with Lexi. He needs a break from touring and goes to the B & B in hopes of getting his girl back.
It’s a story about family and about how careers and lives can change overnight due to a scandal. It’s also a story about fame, it’s ups and downs, and personal losses. But it’s also a story about hope and love.
I have to confess that since I am not a fan of country music, for me, it was more of a 3.5 star book. But having a great deal of respect for the author, and realizing that my opinions are subjective, I am giving the story a 4 star rating.
I was entrusted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Luke has hit it big! A country music newcomer with a #1 song & top selling album. Too bad he can’t stand to sing the song anymore. He may have gained the fame but he lost the girl. Lexi was for him stepping out of the background when her band was steeped in scandal & were dropped from their tour & their label. After trying a long distance relationship, they broke up. Now Luke has realized what he lost & is back to try to regain their relationship. Can Lexi let go of the bitterness & give him a chance?
This story is about perceptions, trust & maturity. The reality was that Luke wasn’t prepared for the fame, the money or the girls throwing themselves at him. Lexi wasn’t prepared for the jealousy she felt when the pictures made it to her & when he didn’t have time for her. They both needed time & distance to regain their trust & decide whether they were willing to work for their relationship or let it go. Lexi was hiding in the small town & needed to decide whether she could face the public again with her head high. This story had a lot of funny moments that contrasted with the romance & drama. The interactions between the Wilder sisters created both drama & comedy. I thought it was funny when Lexi lost her cool after worrying about the scene with her mother & sister. Loved the start to the series!
Very good and pleasant to read.
I loved this touching second-chance romance!
Luke and Lexi have a lot of water under that bridge, but Luke is determined to make up for his thoughtless choices, if only Lexi can let go of all the hurt and give him another chance. I loved how Lexi tried to protect her heart at all costs, loved even more that Luke’s sweet and tender devotion was able to break through all her defenses and win her back. The scene of the concert at the end was so beautifully written, it nearly brought me to tears.
Their HEA is solid, and the secondary characters are terrific. Lexi’s two sisters are perfectly set up for their own books in this dynamic series. Highly recommend this delightful book!
First book I have read by this author, certainly won’t be the last.
I enjoyed this book I think it is predictable but still good to read i just feel the end was a little rushed somehow
Love the characters and country music theme, second chance
A wonderful story! Left me wanting more. Realistic characters and entertaining storyline.
