Oh my, Author Jerica MacMillan brings a new kind introduction into music with that being said, Damian and Charlie’s story continues from where it left off Charlie going her way and Damian going his own after he finds out that she lied to him about who she was, he tries to forget but he can’t and she tries to also but she can’t.
This story is such an emotional journey for both of them, she rich and famous and he comes from nothing he just can’t seem to get his head wrapped around it, why would she be with someone like him with who she is.
Charlie on the other hand is trying to find herself, she knows who is but she wants to go out on her own and she does that but she is missing him!
Will Damian and Charlie get their happily ever after or will it be the end?
To find out you have to read this book!!
I was gifted a copy of this book and was also my first experience with Jerica MacMillan’s writing.
I have a really hard time rating it as I’m not one for YA love stories – and it’s already a second chance at that. Also I wasn’t aware that it wasn’t a standalone but was a continuation of Damien and Charlotte’s story so I sort of jumped in the middle of everything going on.
Aside from these circumstances I had to give it 4 stars as the book was technically good, the writing was entertaining. Both Charlotte and Damien were likeable characters. I liked how Charlotte took the reins and changed her life for the better. She got rid of everyone who had bad influence and found those who supported her and let her soar.
As I mentioned I haven’t read the first part of the story but it wasn’t bothering me, the book was entertaining nevertheless.
Book 2 of the duet was just as good as the first if not better, Charlotte and Damian were both left broken hearted after Damian found out about Charlotte’s big secret as she had lied to him. Now they are both dealing with the fall out and their emotions about each other are all over the show which leaves you wanting to shake them both and sit them down to sort it out. I really liked seeing Charlotte start to take control over her life after seeing what she has to deal with especially her Mother. Seeing them work through who they are/want to be, as well as where they fit, if at all in each others lives is great to see unfold and made for thoroughly great read
The conclusion of Charlie and Damian’s story was terrific!
Charlie is returning to her career on her own terms after getting rid of her crazy mother and old manager. Her professional life is headed in the right direction but she can’t get over Damian or what they had together.
Damian is going through the motions but can’t get Charlie out of his head. Should he forgive her for what he sees as deception or should he move on and forget about the girl he loves?
I loved watching them navigate their renewed friendship and the bumps that came along with her being a star and him being a college student. This book had so many feels!
