When you cross lines every day it can be hard to remember what’s real. And what’s not.Keeping Eva Tatum safe was supposed to be a simple task. One Brock Cassidy should have been able to do with one arm tied behind his back. All he had to do was pretend to be her boyfriend.Show up and bluff away the stalker giving the bull-headed business woman the creeps. But the more time he spends around her, the … the creeps.
But the more time he spends around her, the less faking Brock is doing.
And protecting the woman who hired him becomes personal.

Going to Alaska was just a precaution.
One Eva was forced to take, whether she wanted to or not.
It’s not like there was any real danger. She’d faced crazy once, and this was definitely not it. The situation was completely manageable.
Harmless, really.
But crazy has a way of showing up where it’s not wanted. Where it’s not allowed.
And crazy isn’t allowed within one-hundred feet of Eva. She has the court documents to prove it.
But papers don’t stop madmen intent of claiming what they believe should be theirs.
And taking down anything in their way.
Counterfeit Relations is book 2 in the Alaskan Security-Team Rogue series. This series contains an overreaching subplot that connects across multiple books and is best read in order. Every book contains a HEA for the couple featured, but some story lines are left open at the end of each book and continued in the next.

This is my second book by Jemma Westbrook and won’t be my last. I was hooked from the very beginning and struggled to put this book down to do mundane things.
Eva Tatum is the CEO of Investigative Resources. However, after receiving some stalkerish gifts it was time she went into protection. She gets stuck with grumpy Brock as her security while hanging out in freezing cold Alaska.
“You drink punch?” Brock
“Are you the fun police? You think women only drink iced tea and bottled water?” Eva
“The fun Pol-” Brock
“The fun police. You look about as fun as….Alaska.” Eva
Brock Cassidy has started feeling things he hasn’t felt in a while. All because one of his team members fell in love and has a kid. When he is put in charge of watching Eva, he soon realizes he may have met his match and want more than just this short time together.
“This man should be weaponized. He could topple women into bed with nothing more than a few suggestive phrases”
Will Brock and Rogue Team be able to keep Eva safe? Will Brock be able to overcome his fear of falling in love and having it all or will he let Eva go forever?
“The person following me left me cool shirts and brownies. The d*&% after you shot my Gram-Gram”
O-M-G! I freaking loved this book. Eva is one bad mama jammer. She doesn’t take ish from anyone. She tells it how it is and doesn’t beat around the bush. She takes like seriously when need be, but for the most part she has fun living life to the fullest. There is this one scene where Brock let’s Eva drive and she goes all crazy driving in the snow jamming out to Mr. Brightside by The Killers.
Brock Cassidy turned out to be one of my favorite Rogue men. He told Eva a secret that he hadn’t told anyone else. Also, he cooked her breakfast several times. I mean how many times can I read about biscuits and gravy and NOT make it myself….so damn good! We were also introduced to Pierce, who comes off as a hard ass. Of course, there was more Dutch and Harlow dialogue which was freaking HILARIOUS!
“Did you know Harlow changed all Dutch’s passwords?” Shawn
“What? Did you fire her?” Brock
“Why? Because Dutch couldn’t sign into his Netflix?” Shawn
“She changed his personal passwords?” Brock
“Every damn one of them. Credit Cards, banks, Amazon. Poor guy couldn’t even listen to his freaking Spotify. Then when he finally got it all straightened out, he saw she deleted all his saved songs and replaced them with gospel.” Shawn
Holy cliffhangers!!! I seriously can’t wait for Harlow and Dutch’s book. Also, I am wondering what Pierce and Mona have going on in the future books.
If you wondered how much I like this book I have highlighted and tabbed this book…28 times!!! TWENTY FREAKING EIGHT TIMES! So yes, I would recommend this book if you like romantic suspense, mouthy tough women with a side of comedy! You do not need to read the first book in this series, but of course it would to better understand the side characters a little better.
Jemma did it AGAIN! I was hooked into this series from the very start with Loss Recovery, and then I had to wait for what felt like forever for book 2 and it was worth the wait.
Counterfeit Relations is the story of Brock and Eva. Brock is part of the Alaskan Security Team, a former mercenary, and a man who believes all love will ever do is kill you. Then there is Eva. This girl is MY freaking SOUL! I love how unabashedly honest she is! Her past clouds her belief on love, and the business she built from the ground up only solidifies her belief in all of it. These two together, fireworks. Literal fireworks.
This book is a standalone from the first, but interconnected through the series. We didn’t see Bess or Wade in this one, which kinda made me sad, but not too much because Brock easily took over my top spot for the Alaskan guys. That is until Dutch gets his turn. I have a feeling he will be the one to take the top spot for good once it’s all said and done.
This is a new release so I won’t give anything away, but much like the first book… this was full of action and suspense, keeping you on the edge of your seat wondering what was going on. From Eva’s business to the Alaskan Security group, something is going on and I can’t wait until the mystery unfolds!
This book ends on somewhat of a cliffhanger – yes I know! THE BLASPHEMY! And the next one doesn’t come out until July. Cue ugly crying. But even with the cliffhanger, it was worth the read. The next book will feature Dutch and let’s just say, I NEED IT!
Eva and Brock will have you smiling, laughing, and swooning from the very beginning where she doesn’t hold anything back and he isn’t quite sure how to handle a woman of her caliber. These two are definitely a fun read.
If you haven’t yet read any of Jemma’s work, dive in to Collateral Damage and Loss Recovery before diving in to this one. They are all standalone, but definitely worth the read and with the stories being interconnected, it will help bring the stories all together.
5 stars for this intense military suspense romance that will keep you on your toes while also having you swooning and laughing.
