Was Daniel George an unfortunate victim of some dark magic, or some invisible revenge?
In the sleepy tourist town of Wickrock Bay, Maine, Mimi’s artifact and antique shop is a hit with customers far and wide, especially crotchety next-door cafe owner Daniel George, who likes to duck into the shop often to spot what Mimi has in her collections. But, after three Wickrock Bay citizens rub Daniel … her collections. But, after three Wickrock Bay citizens rub Daniel the wrong way, in one form or another, the man moves to take action against them.
Only for him to turn up mysteriously dead.
Wickrock Bay Police Chief Robert Thompson, and soon along with his crush Mimi, are immediately on the case. But Mimi also has to be cautious, because the object used to murder poor Daniel had come from her shop. Wickrock Bay may be a small, cozy seaside town, but tongues could wag if enough people find this out.
This cozy mystery is a clean read: no graphic violence, sex, or strong language.

Count Your Hexes by Wendy Meadows is an aawesome story to read. This is book number one in this awesome brand new series that I have loved reading very much. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about mysteries and cozy mysteries in their stories.

A new series from Ms Meadows that promises to be as entertaining as her other series. This one involves an antiques dealer who on the side has a nose for mystery. It is charming and delightful. Read and enjoy!

Mimi Knotley and her pug Baxter were a little unusual, at least according to Mimi herself. With her green hair and her antique store and her lackadaisical attitude and Baxter with cat like behaviour, they were indeed a unique pair. When Baxter refused to go for a walk, she decides to get a bit of fresh air and has trouble opening her back door. She runs around from the front and find her shop neighbour dead on her back step. Oh no!
This is the first of the paranormal cozy mystery series, Witch of Wickrock Bay. It is an interesting and creative start to a cozy mystery series. The characters are wonderful and a bit kooky, making it fun to see what is next. As Mimi begins changing she is also trying to help the police solve the crime. Everything is so creative right from the characters, the scenery, the dialogue, to the murder weapon. The storyline is filled with clues, surprise, a love interest, and a few twists and turns that keep the reader interested. It is a quick, easy read and if you love paranormal cozy mysteries then give it a go.

This book is a good start to the series. The plot of story was written well along with favorable pacing. The characters weren’t thoroughly created, which allows the reader to grow with them through the series, which I thoroughly appreciated. As always, Wendy Meadows writing draws the reader in until the very end.

Mimi is out with her dog, Baxter, in the middle of winter so that he can take care of business although he is not thrilled. They head to the coffee shop next door and she gets her coffee and heads to her shop. A few hours later she decides to head to the coffee shop but can;t get out of the back door. Figuring something is wedged behind her door she goes out the front and heads to the backdoor to find a dead body…the coffee shop owner. She calls the police. Now between trying to figure how things are moving in her shop with no one touching it and the murder, and running her shop…and trying to prove she didn;t do it.
Cute story and read.

Mimi runs an antique store along with her dog, Baxter. Baxter is not a normal dog and sometimes has cat traits. He also seems to understand what Mimi says to him and she imagines him answering her with a look. Mimi is also developing the ability to move things by just thinking it, which freaks her out a bit. Soon one of her business neighbors is murdered, right on her back porch! When hunky Chief Rob Thompson shows up to take care of things, she ends up both frustrated, with how slow he is, and excited, by how hot he is.
The story is cute and clean. It’s a quick read, too. I’m hoping that the next book gives us more insight into the main characters.

A Fun New Cozy Series!
An entertaining quick and easy read from Wendy Meadows. Mimi Knotley and Baxter, her pug, are quirky, heartwarming characters. Sweet storyline with a little magic and a hint of romance mixed in. I look forward to reading more of the series. Enjoy!
I received an advance copy and am happy to leave my honest review.
This was an ok read however found I didn’t really connect a lot with the characters as they didn’t give up a lot so you got to know them, in saying that they are quick reads and hopefully you get to know then more as the books go on. Meme is a quirky characters with bright hair and well a little flaky at times however also knows how to connect the dots, Rob the Chief of Police is very quiet and keeps his emotions and thought close to his chest but appears to have soft spot for Mimi. It was interesting seeing Mimi try and crack who the killer was as well as try and work out whats happening with her china and why her pug acts more like a cat than a dog.

Another great new series.
Here we have another great new series from the pen of the talented Ms. Wendy. I was entertained by the wonderful cozy. The cast includes a perhaps witch Mimi and her little pug Baxter and as luck would have it a really bad guy who likes to murder neighbors. Do not fear Mimi and Baxter is on the case! I enjoyed all the characters a great blend I am looking forward to reading the next one in this series. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This was different. The cover is awesome. The characters are amazingly written. The author has you on the edge of your seat. I would read more from the author.

Mimi owns an antique shop in a small town. One day she finds the proprietor of the shop next door dead at her back door.
Soon the Chief of Police is on the case – as it looks like murder, and Mimi is ready to help as much as she can.
The story is a sleepy one with not many surprises until the end, when the unexpected murderer is found with a hint of romance between Mimi and the Chief.
I gave the story a 3.5 stars because I found it a little too slow for my taste. The story line itself is fairly solid and people who are less impatient may enjoy the book more than I did.

Mimi runs a quaint artifact and antique shop in Wickrock Bay. Her next door shop neighbor has a coffee and sweets shop. She sees Daniel George each morning for her coffee.
Mimi is greatly disturbed and dismayed to find Daniel dead against her shop door. Thorough yet slow moving Police Chief Rob investigates.
Along the way strange things like telekinesis start happening to Mimi. Supernatural? Maybe, but she is mostly in denial for now.
Can Rob, and Mimi, locate and detain the killer? Perhaps, but it seems more might be afoot in this small village. Magic, mayhem and murder are in the air- with a strange bit of romance.

I read the book on Kindle Unlimited.
I’m a fan of several series from Wendy Meadows, and am looking forward to reading more from Wickrock Bay.

Mimi Knotley was finding that Maine winters were definitely cold! Her pug, Baxter, looked at her with reproach for dragging him to the park for a walk in this frigid weather. She headed off to Wickrock Bay Café to get some coffee and chat with Daniel, the owner, but Baxter wouldn’t move – she had to carry him instead. Returning next door to her antiques shop, Mimi spent the next couple of hours checking stock and dusting until she finally had to get some fresh air – but the back door wouldn’t open. Going out the front instead, she walked around and saw a body on her back porch area! She called out Daniel’s name, but he was unresponsive. He had no pulse and there were black burn marks on his palms! She called Wickrock Bay Police and Chief Robert Thompson answered. He didn’t seem eager to come out and, once there, moved slowly. Her nose kept tingling.
Freezing in the cold, Mimi told Chief Thompson she was going back inside. She had called Sara Domico, her best friend, and was expecting her to arrive any minute. Shortly after Sara joined her, Mrs. Parsons came in and acted like a drama queen, talking nonstop and thinking the police would somehow blame her for the murder.
When it is discovered that Daniel was murdered using an item from her shop, Mimi needs to assist the Police Chief in finding the murderer! She is also seeing strange things happen and begins to suspect she may have some sort of magical power – or insanity — when teacups move and rearrange themselves in front of her! What is going on? Will she solve the murder? And why is her dog purring?
This is a strange little town with some oddball characters living in it. Even the animals are a bit odd! Grab your copy and meet the citizens of Wickrock Bay. I have strong expectations that we’ll be seeing lots more of them!
Mimi runs an artifact and antique shop in the tourist town of Wickrock Bay. People love her shop as they can find unique items to fill their collections which delights Mimi. She is right next door to a café which is run by Daniel George. Mimi gets along with him just fine, but he is a bit crotchety and has rubbed a few people the wrong way. When Mimi discovers his body at her back door and his hands strangely burned, she doesn’t know what could have possibly happened. Now Mimi finds herself helping Police Chief Rob Thompson try to solve the murder.
Mimi is a bit of a character who owns a pug dog that acts more like a cat. The author hints that Mimi can sometimes move things with her mind making Mimi wonder (along with the reader) if she has some magical powers. I have a feeling as the series progresses, we might find out more about Mimi and the oddities of her little pug.
If you enjoy cozy mysteries, then you will like this book as it has all the key elements; mystery, adventure, humor, quirky characters, amateur sleuths, romance potential, and a hint of the paranormal.

Count Your Hexes by Wendy Meadows is the start to a new series. It was easy to get to know these well developed characters, especially Baxter. There’s humor, some light intrigue and suspense.
When she finds the coffee shop owner dead at her back door, Mimi slowly gets caught up finding out who would kill her friendly business neighbor. With all this stress, Mimi sees items in her shop move on their own and her dog and a crow in the park seem to be talking to each other. What’s with that?
This is a quick fun read suitable for the rainy day read. Obviously. Mimi and her dog are just starting their adventures. And right by their side is Rob, oops, Chief Thompson.
I’m not sure what the title is referencing, I didn’t find any references to hexes. This is still a good and enjoyable read at 4 stars.

Wickrock Bay is a quiet little town where not much happens making it a peaceful place that the residents love. That is until Daniel, owner of the cafe is murdered, now the hunt for the killer begin. Mimi owns the artifact and antique shop in town and Daniel always loved to come peruse the items in her shop. The police chief is on the case and Mimi is immediately there to help him out. Finding out the murder weapon came from her shop just adds to the mystery. This is a fun, entertaining and cozy mystery to read. The characters are interesting and a great start to a new series.

This was a slow start and not the most entertaining story. Hope the next book in the series is better. Not the best Wendy Meadows series.

Wickrock Bay is a cozy little town. Not much happens and that is what the citizens love about it. Quiet and peaceful. Well usually anyway. When Daniel, the owner of the café next to Mimi’s antique store is murdered, it sets off a hunt for the killer. Will Mimi be able to solve the crime with the help of the police chief?
This is a fun and entertaining mystery. The characters are fresh and very interesting. I hope more books are written about this little town and its inhabitants. As always, Wendy Meadows delivers a wonderful story.
