Was Daniel George an unfortunate victim of some dark magic, or some invisible revenge?
In the sleepy tourist town of Wickrock Bay, Maine, Mimi’s artifact and antique shop is a hit with customers far and wide, especially crotchety next-door cafe owner Daniel George, who likes to duck into the shop often to spot what Mimi has in her collections. But, after three Wickrock Bay citizens rub Daniel … her collections. But, after three Wickrock Bay citizens rub Daniel the wrong way, in one form or another, the man moves to take action against them.
Only for him to turn up mysteriously dead.
Wickrock Bay Police Chief Robert Thompson, and soon along with his crush Mimi, are immediately on the case. But Mimi also has to be cautious, because the object used to murder poor Daniel had come from her shop. Wickrock Bay may be a small, cozy seaside town, but tongues could wag if enough people find this out.
This cozy mystery is a clean read: no graphic violence, sex, or strong language.

What a delightful start to a new cozy mystery series! And it does feel like a beginning in several ways. There is definitely a hint of future romance, and the protagonist, Mimi, is coming to understand that she has a magical bent. Not everything is fully resolved in this book, though the central mystery is (of course), which makes me anticipate book two!
I have read several of Wendy Meadows books, and I find that she has a way of writing in deep third-person point of view that draws you right into the story and the protagonist’s world. Even though this is a murder mystery, she is able to inject humor on occasion, and the relationship between Mimi and her dog, Baxter, is absolutely adorable (and I’m not even really a pet person). The author seems to have a good sense of timing; I love that she put the murder right up front (around the 6% mark), as I’ve read a couple of mysteries lately that make us wait to find the dead body. An interesting cast of characters populates this book, and much seems to be going on in this small town Maine town, both below the surface and what can be seen. I quite enjoyed watching this story unfold, and I look forward to the next book in the series.
Witch Mimi owns an antique and artifact shop. When nearby Cafe owner Daniel is murdered using an item from her shop Mimi is determined to slide be the mystery.

This is book 1 of a new cozy mystery series by Wendy Meadows. It hints at the beginnings of Mimi coming into her witch powers. The story takes place in Wickrock Bay, Maine. Mimi, owns an antique shop in her quaint little town, when a murder occurs to her next door shop neighbor. Mimi, finds herself trying to help Chief Rob Thompson solve the case. While all this is happening, strange thing are happening, with no explanation.
Their is humor, intrigue, mystery, and the hint of an upcoming romance in future books. Written as a third person, single pov book. They mystery is solved but questions still linger. Good story line, nice characters that I can not wait to read more about, strong descriptions to detail, and entertaining dialogue. All in all, a nice cozy way to spend a few hours to rest and relax.

New series!!!!!! The highlights of the book, Mimi discovers she can move objects, and finds a body by the back door to her shop, Surprises. There is a spark as far as romance goes, which I didn’t understand, at times it seemed like Mimi didn’t like the guy. As for Baxter, is he a cat or a dog? The murder is solved with Mimi’s help, but the paranormal was never addressed. I’m assuming it will be in future books. What was with the crow, that totally went over my head, I never figured out what he meant to the story, again maybe in a future book it will be revealed. No cursing, sex scenes or blood and gore.

I really like love this book. Want more now!!!!!!! Off to wonderful start. I think this might become my favorite series by this author if this is any indication.
I just wonder what is up with Baxter, the pug – a dog. Purrs?, kneading, naps, won’t go for walks, does not like the cold – does that sound like a dog to you? I can’t wait for more in this series so I can see if my theory about Baxter (what is yours?) is correct and what will happen with Mimi and her new(?) abilities. There are just so many questions I have and need answers to now!!!
This book is really a very fast read. Just sit down with your favorite beverage and enjoy for a couple of hours.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC Book.
Mimi runs a quaint shop in Wickrock Bay. Her next door neighbors, Daniel George is known for his petty accusations. He’s annoyed one of the town’s residents enough to commit murder. The only problem is that the murder weapon came from Mimi’s shop. This is the beginning of an entertaining new series by Wendy Meadows which I enjoyed.

This is another great new series from Wendy. In this one Mimi is running an antiques shop. She takes her dog out for a walk every morning before work and stops by the coffee shop next door. This morning, like all others, started out the same. As the day went on, she needed some fresh air and was going to step out on the back porch but she couldn’t get the back door open. She went around the shop and discovered her neighbor’s body blocking the door. She calls the sheriff but he seems to be going slowly in the investigation so she jumps in and finds not only great clues but the murderer
