COUNT ON ME by Maryann Jordan. Well, I adored this tale. Scott and Lizzie truly warmed my heart. Scott, a wounded veteran, has some issues due to his injury, but overall, he is sweet and sexy and I fell in love with him right away. Lizzie did take a bit for me to warm up to her. She is extremely independent, which at times, made her seem a bit standoffish to me, but as time passed, she wormed her way into my heart. I loved how these two worked together and the love and respect for each other was evident. For me, this tale enveloped my sense of friendship, love and taking care of others that are important to us. I highly recommend this one, and the entire series. Many of the characters from previous books are in this one, but, in my opinion, you do not need to read the other books to enjoy this one. However, I would advise it as those tales will also make your day. (received ARC for honest review)
Scott Redding, an accountant in Baytown, has lived his life trying not to get “stuck” in the life set before him. His family wanted him to take over the “family business”, but he wasn’t so sure he wanted to be stuck inside all day working with numbers. Instead, Scott enlisted to serve his country. After an explosion led to a leg amputation and medical discharge, Scott found he was really good “working with numbers”. So he took over the family business. As such, he helped Beau Weston get his papers, taxes, and farm in order prior to his sudden death. Scott had never met Beau’s granddaughter, but knew how proud Beau was of her. So, Scott set out to help Lizzie….
Lizzie Weston has worked the farm all her life, alongside her grandpa. Lizzie has new innovative ideas to grow the farm, but not the time or business knowledge. Lizzie seeks out Scott’s help with a business plan, but then second guesses herself. She believes Scott can’t possibly help her as he’s been handed everything his whole life—he hasn’t had to earn it. But she’s willing to do anything to keep her farm and to honor the memory of her grandpa. Slowly, Scott worms his way into her life and she realizes how badly she misjudged him. But danger looms as they try to turn the farm into a profitable business.
I absolutely LOVED Scott and Lizzie! Scott is an Alpha male, but also insecure due to his amputation. He doesn’t intentionally hide his disability from Lizzie, but waits until a charity run to show her instead. Although she has questions, she doesn’t dwell on his disability—just the man. Scott is so relieved! Lizzie grew up in Baytown, but didn’t have a lot of friends as she was always working the farm. In true Baytown form, friendships are formed and the town comes to the rescue. The twist at the end was surprising. I can usually guess who the bad guy is, but was pleasantly surprised. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
And enjoyable quick read. I found it to be lighthearted. Did not tug at my emotions which I actually prefer.
Count on Me did not disappoint. It is a great addition to the Baytown Boys. Scott is a veteran that has overcome his injuries and started a new life. Lizzie is faced with the death of her grandfather and keeping the farm going when accidents start happening and she is being pressured to sell. Lizzie will have to learn to lean on and trust others to get through it all.
Gosh this series just gets better and better with this 12th book in the Baytown Boys Series. This is Scott and Lizzie’s story and it ‘s full of drama but heartwarming at times. Someone is sabotaging the farm and the two of them are drawn together trying to find who. Scott is an amputee from the war but is now and accountant and was hired by Lizzie’s grandfather Beau to help her save the family farm. They but heads at first but tend to mesh the more they work together. Well written with likable characters and an entertaining story. All of the Baytown boys are great and Maryann is a wonderful writer. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to review.
Scott wanted to help Beau’s Granddaughter. Lizzy was shy and spent most of her time on the farm. Scott was determined to help her out. In the process he fell in love with her. Another wonderful Bay Town story.
New addition to the Baytown boys is the meeting of Scott and Lizzie. Excellent tale that kept the pages turn from the start .
Count On Me is the 12th book in Maryann Jordan’s Baytown Boys series. If you have read any of Maryann’s books you know she will give you action, suspense, and lots of romance. Well, you will get all those things and more with this book. I absolutely loved Scott. He was so sweet and caring of Lizzie. Lizzie is a very strong willed, hard working woman who definitely deserved a man like Scott. Throw together Lizzie’s stubbornness, Scott’s patience, 3 alpacas, goats, 2 pigs, a bunch of loose chickens, a little bit of drama, and you get an amazing, heartfelt, captivating story.
I so want to find this small town of Baytown and meet the amazing men and women who live and love to the fullest. Scott is a war vet and an amputee but that doesn’t slow him down, he is partners in an accounting firm and befriends one of his clients, Beau, who has nothing but praise for his granddaughter who works his land. When Beau passes away, Scott finally meets the woman who Beau adored and is smitten. Lizzie feels Beau’s loss deeply, being a loner with not many friends she is alone until Scott offers his services to help her grow her business. She’s reluctant but decides she needs help…and help her does in more ways than one as someone is out to get her and drive her off her land.
An amazing read with steam and a slow sensual build up with these two that was perfect. The suspense is there and kept me flipping the pages, but the sparks and connection between these two, had me glued to them. I LOVED the little to no drama between them, the communication, honesty and openness between them made me swoon. The friends and family coming together to help had me smiling from ear to ear. I LOVED Scott’s patience and Lizzie’s determination and finally her realization that she wasn’t alone. I LOVED the epilogue which was perfect with a surprise that once again had me smiling.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
What starts out as friendship, flourishes into a beautiful love story. It’s beautiful to see the relationship between Scott and Lizzie grow into love. I loved the small town feel of neighbours and friends helping each other in times of need. All in all this story is incredibly well written and extremely entertaining.
After Scott Redding finished his Master’s Degree he returned to Baytown and began working for Lia at the Accounting Firm that had once been his grandfather’s. Lia has since offered him a partnership which he took without hesitation. A new to him client visits about taxes and plans for the farm. Beau Weston is all about making sure his granddaughter can make all the changes she needs to keep the place running and profitable.
Scott was still looking for the perfect house, he was renting but hadn’t found a house that said ‘home’ to him. On a detour he sees the sign for Weston Farms and Beau working the fence line.
Scott becomes acquainted with Beau’s granddaughter, Lizzy, after he dies. It was Beau’s wish that Scott help Lizzy accomplish her dreams for the farm, not only through the tax help, but also with a business plan.
Lizzy isn’t all that enthused about accepting his help, but their story is one of developing trust, friendship and a simmer to sizzle love. With unexpected twists, and plenty of interaction with the original Baytown Boys, the veterans that have made Baytown their home, and the strong successful women who love them.
I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
An Absolutely Inspiring and beautiful romance
. I love this story . It’s outstanding as is the entire series . Mrs. Jordan never disappoints . She makes you feel like you are part of the Baytown story . Scott Redding survived an IED but lost part of his leg and and some of his military brothers in Afghanistan . He now works as an accountant in his Grandfather’s previous business with a partner . He spends his time with friends and projects with the American Legion of Baytown . He does elderly Beau Weston’s Farms account . Beau’s granddaughter Elizabeth lives with him and works the farm along side Beau . During their meetings though out the following six months Beau talked about Lizzie and asked Scott to assist Lizzie with her business ideas so she could hold on to the farm should something happen to him . Scott learned alot about Lizzie listening to Beau . Several months go by and Scott learns Beau has past and he feels for Lizzie . Finally he goes to offer help . Scott and Lizzie struggle somewhat but Scott persists . When bad things start happening around the farm . Scott steps up to keep Lizzie safe and try to get answers to why and who is behind things happening . This story is truely beautiful and well written and the characters are wonderful and unique . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
Scott and Lizzie story was awesome….Yet another home-run addition to the Baytown Boys series. I love this author and love all of her books. Scott and Lizzie will have you wanting to live in Baytown with everyone else.
Count On Me is a feel good book with a really happy ending. Maryann Jordan wrote a sweet, romantic, sexy story with a page turning storyline. You will love Scott and Lizzie. The rest of the Baytown characters accepted and helped Lizzie with her farm. The Westin farm was saved, and the animals were loved by everyone. You have to love protective alpha with a big heart. I could not put it down. I can’t wait to see what is next.
A sweet story with a touch of suspense
Scott returns to Baytown where he use to visit his grandparents after losing his leg while serving in the military. Now an accountant he’s now a partner in the firm his grandfather use to own, all he wants is to live his life not letting the lose of his leg define him.
Lizzie’s life has been the farm, working it with her grandfather changing it with the times. She’s a little socially inept d sad once she spent so much time alone working the farm but when her grandfather passes away leaving her the farm she’s got to step up and realize there’s people who will help.
Reading their story, how Scott was so patient and watching Lizzie become comfortable with people was endearing.
Of course the suspense of the story will really have you wondering who did, Maryann Jordan always keeps you guessing until the end!
Such a good story! Reading Count on Me was like comfort food for my brain. It was a sweet small town romance with just a bit of drama and suspense to move the story along. It was an absolute pleasure to read!
Accountant Scott Redding is making a place for himself back home in the Baytown area. He steps up to help Lizzie Weston with her farm… whether she thinks she wants help or not!
“… he had not promised that nothing bad would ever happen to her again. But that when it did, he would be there for her, carrying her pain.”
This story is a standalone but if you have read other Baytown Boys books there are plenty of familiar characters who make appearances.
-5 Stars!-
This is the 12th book in the Baytown Boys series and can absolutely be read as a standalone, although I highly recommend reading the previous books in the series as we see a lot of those characters in this book. In this one we get Scott Redding and Lizzie Weston’s story. Scott served in the Army and lost more than most should have. But he considers himself lucky because he got to come home. He met Beau Weston when he came into his business and asked for his advice. And when he passes, he doesn’t realize that him wanting to help his granddaughter will change his life forever. Lizzie has farming in her blood. She now raises goats and alpacas and is trying to change how they go about using their farm in order to survive. Accepting help is not what she needs or wants, but she is forced to accept it and then realizes how much she likes him. But when things start happening to her farm, can they both not only keep it safe but find out how much they love and need each other?
I have been waiting for this one since this character was first introduced! And this book in no way disappointed! Scott is this beyond sweet man who is willing to do anything for someone he cares about. And when he considers you his friend he will stand beside you, in front of you, or anyone you need in order to help you. Lizzie is this sweet and shy but when she cares about you-your in her life. These two together are perfect together and I loved them! There is suspense, a little action, but most of all-there is sweetness and love! I can’t wait for more in this series though because all of these characters are beyond great!
Maryann has done it again with this book!
Scott takes you on a journey in this book. You will not be disappointed!
Another awesome read in the Baytown Boys series! I could honestly live in Baytown. Ms. Jordan paints such a welcoming and friendly picture of this town with her words that I see it so clearly in my mind and it feels like home. And everyone knows she writes the swooniest hero’s! Love Scott! And I loved the way he was with Lizzie. Life hasn’t been easy for either of them but they are both strong! And of course, it has the suspense I love! You can never go wrong with this author! I hope she has plenty more planned for this series!
Love these Baytown Boys and the strong women they find happiness with! This is Scott and Lizzie’s turn! Lizzie is trying her best to hold on to her family farm after the death of her beloved grandfather. Scott, her grandfather’s accountant, is only trying to help Lizzie plan for the future, but she misunderstands and pushes him away. When she realizes that accepting help and making new friends is one of the best things that could happen to her and with Scott’s guidance her plans for the farm are looking up.
An amputee, courtesy of his military service, has Scott worried that Lizzie could react badly to his prosthetic leg and place him right into the friend only zone. He is surprised and happy that it makes no difference to Lizzie and their sweet and passionate relationship grows but trouble on the farm begins with cut fences and poison. Someone wants the land. Is it the developer who wants to build or the owner of a large scale neighboring farm? Will Lizzie’s dream for her farm survive or will all be taken away?
I received an ARC of this book, but my review is my own and I have already pre-ordered the book.
