Scott Redding was determined to live his life and not be defined as an amputee.Meeting Beau Weston was to help the older man settle his affairs… not change Scott’s life.Farmer Lizzie Weston was as independent as she was hardworking. Accepting help from Scott would never work… afterall, what could he know about farming? As Scott and Lizzie worked to save Weston farm, animosity grew into … farm, animosity grew into understanding… and then to love.
But someone is out to force Lizzie to sell, and it’s up to Scott to save the farm… and her.
Baytown Boys…
Military duty called them away to war zones, but after tours overseas, the group of friends found their way back home as men, seeking the peaceful little seaside town. Now, the band of brothers, together once more, work to provide a place for less fortunate veterans to call home.

I really connected with Lizzie in this story – she’s prickly, sad, brave, and unsure of herself and the people round her – but she never sees Scott as anything but whole, and that alone says a great deal about her character. She faces huge stresses in this book, from her grandfather’s death to the shady attempts to get her to sell, and she handles them all, possibly not elegantly, but she overcomes them. Scott is, of course, instrumental in much of the overcoming, particularly of the shady aspects, but he never overwhelms her own coping abilities. It takes a while for Lizzie to see Scott’s good points and to fall for him, and that makes the book even better. No way would there be an instalove in the scenario that Maryann Jordan presents in this book. The Baytown Boys are back, and this is probably my favorite of the series (this may hold only till the next one!). It’s also delightful to watch Lizzie realize that she is part of the community, and that they all have her back – she is so well written.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
A great community with the spirit of helping your neighbours.
Lizzie is trying to cope alone after the death of her grandfather. Scott her accountant want to be so much more for her, for her to count on him.
I enjoyed their slow building romance, her new friends and the antics of the animals.
The mystery going on in the background…well, I didn’t see that coming.
Very entertaining story, I loved it.
I cannot stress enough how much I love the Baytown Boys Books. They bring joy to my heart with their good, honest romance and tales of men who still know how to do the right things in life. Scott has had tragedy in his life the least of which is when he lost part of his leg in war. Even though he is a handsome guy, he hasn’t found a woman who is willing to see past his amputation. Lizzie’s life revolves around the farm she lives on with her Grandfather Beau so she hasn’t had time for friendships or romance. When Beau dies she finds herself alone except for her beloved animals or is she? Prior to his death her Grandfather enlisted Scott, an accountant to assist with the finances and future security of the farm. Against all odds, Scott introduces Lizzie to romance as well as true friends from Baytown and it turns out that she will need their help as sometime targets her farm. I cannot stress how wonderful the writings of Maryann Jordan is and if you have the need to feel good about a book, this is the author you need to reach for.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.
Count on me is the 12th book in the beautiful Baytown Boys series by Maryann Jordan and what a beautiful book.
Lizzie was raised by her grandparents and love the farm with all her heart. She has worked hard all her life on the farm and had no time for a life outside the farm.
Scott had lost part of his leg in the while serving in the Army. He was the Accountant for Lizzie’s grandfather, Beau, and just wants to care for Lizzie and help her make her dreams for the farm a reality.
Love this story. Scott was swoony and lizzie so strong. The complemented each other.
The storyline with a little mystery of who was sabotaging the farm had me glued to my kindle trying to find out who was responsible.
Love seeing the community of Baytown together helping Lizzie.
Another amazing read in this series and can’t wait for Sam’s and Joseph’s book.
My Rating: STARS.
Whenever I read one of Maryann Jordan’s Baytown Boys books I always feel like I am going home to visit family and friends. I feel happy as I read and contented when I finish the book. They are just feel good romances woven around remarkable set of characters.
Scott Redding lost a lot in Afghanistan but in coming back to Baytown he gained so much more. He found love and his happily ever after. Lizzie Weston’s life is the farm and her grandfather. After losing her grandfather she feels truly alone for the first time in her life until Scott steps in to offer a helping hand and friendship. It’s readily apparent that there’s more than friendship bubbling just beneath the surface. When mishaps at the farm begin to occur Scott becomes Lizzie’s protector and her staunchest ally. Baytown folk rally around Lizzie in her time of need and she feels truly accepted.
Count On Me
Maryann Jordan
This is at least a 2 Kleenex box read. The emotions pour out of the pages and grab you as you follow Lizzie as she believes she is all alone in the world. She soon discovers that Scott and the Baytown crew won’t let her be alone. A sweet romance with just a touch of suspense keeps you reading until the very end. An ending that Is surprising.
In my opinion this is one of the best stories in the Baytown series.
Maryann Jordan has another awesome Baytown Boys book with Count on Me. Scott Redding is a tax accountant who lost part of his left leg while in the Army, and has a rescue dog, Rufus, who is missing a leg. Elizabeth “Lizzie” Weston has recently lost her beloved Papa Beau (Scott’s client, previously a client of his grandfather), and is doing her best to run the farm he left her. Two people have offered to purchase the farm she doesn’t want to sell, and suddenly there are weird things happening…. coincidence? Or not? She feels alone, and can’t figure out why Scott is trying to help her. I loved this book. It was fun to read, it was surprising, and I couldn’t put it down.
While reading this book, I felt Lizzie’s pain of losing her grandpa deeply. I had recently lost my mother, so I could relate. This was just another great book in a fantastic series and I highly recommend starting with book one. You will not regret getting to know then Baytown boys and all their friends
This was such a sweet story! Scott and Lizzie are adorable and this one was a pleasant read. The element of danger looming keeps me interested. Scott’s character was unique and different and I loved how Lizzie accepted him. And Lizzie’s independence and strength was refreshing. All-in-all another wonderful read in the Baytown Series.
Wow! This one had a twist that really surprised me! I was unsure how a accountant would draw me in as much as Maryann’s other books in this series, but she did it! I loved Scott and Lizzie’s story. The set up her grandfather did was beautiful. I truly enjoyed this story. I don’t want to give any spoilers so I am going to leave this short and sweet.
Another addition to the Baytown Boys series by Maryann Jordan. This is Scott and Lizzies story. Scott is ex military who lost his leg while serving. Lizzie lives on a farm she inherited from her grandfather. Sparks fly between them when they get together. A great love story. 5 Stars!!
This 12th book in the series about the “boys”, now men who either grew up in Baytown or have come to make a new life in the town after their time in the military, centers around Scott Redding and Lizzie Weston.
Scott is working as an accountant in the firm started by his grandfather. Lizzie works and lives in the family farm alongside her grandfather Beau. A man that taught her to love the land and one who has been open to Lizzie’s new ideas. A man that indirectly brought Scott and Lizzie together.
Both Scott and Lizzie had to deal with changes in their lives and both have become stronger because of it.
Though there is some action in the story, it’s pace is slower than some of the previous books. Still making this at times bittersweet story, one about family, or lack thereof, new beginnings, hope and the possibility of love.
Another enjoyable book in the series. If you have read the previous ones, something I highly recommend, you’ll get a chance to “visit” with some of the characters of the previous stories.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Another one in the Baytown Series – if you love the Baytown Boys, you don’t want to miss this one. This is the story of Scott and Lizzie, Scott is ex-military and he lost part of his leg while he was deployed. He’s a great guy who after leaving the military goes to work in his grandfather’s accounting firm in Baytown. He meets Lizzie’s grandfather and is helping him get his business in order all the while hearing about the granddaughter, Lizzie who is currently trying to improve the farm. Lizzie is a farm girl who was raised on the farm and has spent her whole life working hard for the farm’s success. She is a workhorse and because of this, she really has no personal relationships. While she is strong and innovative and trying to bring the farm into the 21st century, I found her to be prickly and didn’t really like her much. Scott, on the other hand, is a doll. He is also a hard worker who has had to overcome much after leaving the military with only one leg and having to learn to live anew. He is gun shy with women because many don’t want to give him a chance due to his lost limb. One of the things I liked best about Lizzie was the fact that she seemed oblivious about his injury and willing to accept him as he was. Their story was a good one with the heart of Baytown goodness and people’s amazingly good hearts. The mystery of who wanted to sabatoge her farm was a surprise to me and definitely kept me motivated to see how the story would wrap up. Great story, great hero, great animals, great suspense and ok heroine. While I love Baytown this was not my favorite story because I just couldn’t connect with the heroine. I was happy to have read this story and continue to catch up with my Baytown friends. I look forward to the next story, hopefully Joseph and Sam. I received an ARC of this and have given an honest review.
The latest visit to Baytown is as enjoyable as my previous visits. Maryann Jordan has created a rich world with wonderful characters who support and care about one another in this small town on the Virginia coast. Scott is not an original Baytown Boy, but he has been accepted as one of their own. Lizzy and Scott’s romance is sweet and tender and of course, steamy! This story needs a one tissue warning, but for sweet and happy tears.
I love this series. There’s something innately comforting when I start one of these books. I think it’s the small town mentality that shows love, compassion and neighbourly spirit. It also helps that the guys are drop dead gorgeous with huge hearts. All of them in some way have served their country be it in the military or the law enforcement capacity. Scott is no different but he has the added burden of losing part of his leg so when he comes home life is an adjustment, but he never lets it stop him from doing everything he wants. Meeting Lizzie Completes him in ways he never knew it could. Lizzie is solitary by necessity not choice and when she meets Scott after a huge loss, he settles her soul in a way she never could have imagined. Their story has drama and some suspense but ultimately it’s about finding the person who completes you. This was a beautiful love story. Throw in some special animals you have an awesome book. I loved it.
This is such a beautiful story of acceptance and selfless love…
Each story in the Baytown series will touch your heart like no other.
Scott lost his leg in the military and decided love wasn’t in the cards for him. No one he’s met really understands and sees him as a whole person. Then he meets Lizzie and he feels an instant connection. Even though there beginning was a little rocky. He feels love and acceptance for the first time since he woke up to discover he was an amputee.
Lizzie Weston is hard working and is fighting to keep Weston farm going after her grandfather passes away. But wants her to fail and Lizzie is in trouble. Scott is willing to do whatever it takes to keep her safe.
I love how strong and determined Scott and Lizzie’s characters are. The Baytown series is all about finding the one and friends and family are always there for each other for help with love and support.
I can’t wait to read Joseph and Sam’s story!
“I voluntarily received this arc book for an honest review”
Pull up a comfy chair and get ready for a book that will pull you in from the first page and tug at your heart. Couldn’t wait for Scott’s story and was in love from the beginning. Lizzie and Scott are the perfect match. They just complete each other. You have everything, heart, romance, family and friends. The twists in this one got me. Definitely an unexpected great twist. I highly recommend reading. I received a free copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a review
The Baytown Boys Series is awesome. Just when you think the author is going in one direction, she shocks you & takes you where you never thought she would go. Her characters are strong yet vulnerable and the suspense keeps you guessing. I love the closeness of friends and how they rally around when someone is in need. A great story. I received this as an ARC and voluntarily present my review.
