I am a corrupt king, ruling a sinful empire. I wasn’t born to the crown.Nevertheless, I wear it well.Aislinn Granville is the Crown Jewel of my empire—my queen. To my enemies, she’s my Achilles heel—a perfect pawn. Without her, I am a wounded warrior. A ruthless, relentless beast. There is nowhere she can be taken that I won’t find her.No adversary I won’t crush to get her back.Even if I have to … won’t crush to get her back.
Even if I have to burn this city to the ground.

The writing was brilliant, the characters fantastic, but the crime and mayhem world was definitely not my favorite. I have serious concerns about a man who leads an empire of corruption and murder to lead in a romantic book, and instead of being redeemed, stays in this world. The fact that he has a side company, The Network, that ensures the escape and safety of abused wives and children, is somewhat redeemable but not completely forgivable.
Continuing from Cruel Sanctuary, Aislinn was kidnapped and is being held captive by what we assume are members of the Los Muertos gang. Damon King and Aislinn suffer several days full of anguish until suddenly Aislinn is captured and brought back to Damon. However, the situation is not resolved, not even close. There is still a war being waged in the New York underground by several gangs, Aislinn’s father is still trying to negotiate a deal with Los Muertos, using Aislinn as a bribe for the cartel’s son, and Aislinn just wants to be clear of all the crime, all the corruption. All she wants is to continue and expand her work in The Network.
The situation between Aislinn and Damon is rocky, and Finley is now getting closer to Aislinn and we see a sisters reunion close. But we also see the impending implosion of Damon King’s world, as a suspected mole in his world threatens to destroy all he has worked so hard to demolish.
There’s a lot of sex, and a lot of bloody violence and murder. The chemistry between Aislinn and Damon continues to smolder and they are finally on the way to disclose the love they have for each other. I sided with Aislinn in that Damon’s world is completely opposite to what she stands for, and totally agree that if she were to continue with him, things will have to change. When he tried to use her as a pawn in his political game, I was totally on board with her anger and I would have thrown another shoe at him. She reacted just right, in order to get him to sort his mind.
Damon is on the way to realize that Aislinn is his everything and he will be receptive to changes. The little boy inside of him, the one that feels unwanted, is beginning to change and feel loved. He just needed to get his feelings sorted and communicate them.
As always, the author’s writing is brilliant and the plot moves at a great clip, with no lagging parts, and the suspense of what will happen keeps the reader riveted to the book. What I did notice in this one, though, is that the author sacrificed action for sex. We don’t see a lot of Damon’s dealings to control the underground world, or his machinations to ruin Aislinn’s father’s political ambitions. We feel mostly as recipients of the information from Damon’s informative comments to Aislinn. Also, there was one violent scene that bothered me, it was so excessively violent and gruesome. I much prefer this author’s other series, such as the rock trilogy Nothing but Trouble, or her Manhattan royals Legacy of Lies. Although I enjoyed reading this book, it was too murdery for me.
CORRUPT SAVIOR is an exciting twisted, sexy tale of lust and desire.
Giving me one grand case of WTF!! Holy heck I was enthralled with the storyline that I pulled an all-nighter! Yes, the lack of sleep was a necessity because I needed to get to the end I needed my answers and then I could finally breathe!!! So worth the lack of sleep! WOW!! Just WOW!
Talk about a couple that have been thru everything to obtain their happily ever after. After that gasping ending in Book 1 it kept me wondering how things will turn out in Book 2 and I wasn’t disappointed. Damon proved that he will go above and beyond for Aislinn and she surprised me and proved that she is the ying to his yang. She proved that she can keep up with the best of them much to the surprise of many. I enjoyed the rush of everything the unexpected betrayals and the gasping moments that up until the last chapters will have you at the edge of your seat. The epilogue, amazing and typical Damon and Aislinn.
Holy smokes this book! This duet! I did not want it to end at all. There is insane passion and twists and turns that you never expect or that you see coming but plays out in a totally different way that you never thought could happen. Damon, oh that man. He is the devil but he is Aislinn’s devil. These two together just mesh and make sense. She is the light to his dark. Their push and pull throughout is insane but keeps you on your toes. Then you have the added insanity of her father plus cartel that leaves your head spinning.
The one thing I loved about this book and the duet as a whole, is the depth these books have. They feel like they should be a mini series playing out on the tv for you because of the fluidity and the great character build. I found myself dying for more of these two. But that ending twist, blew me away. I never expected it in the long run and I adore that about Leigh! She ended it with a bang that makes you go WHAT JUST HAPPENED!!! If you haven’t read these books, I highly recommend it because they are utter brilliance!
What an awesome conclusion to this duet. I absolutely fell in love with Aislinn & Damon. They have that animalistic chemistry that just grabs your attention and won’t let go. The story picks up right where book 1 left off. I felt the struggle that Aislinn went through. Love how she is a strong character with great personality. Damon is hard not to fall in love with. His love for Aislinn is what keeps us guessing to our books. He has no limit in what he will do for her. This is definitely a must read. You will also call in love with the secondary characters. 5 star read. Definitely recommend!
This was such a thrill ride! Aislinn and Damon’s story concludes here. If you haven’t read book 1, you really need to since this picks up where that ends. That being said, I loved this! It had me on the edge of my seat for word one until the epilogue. There are so many pieces that are swirling around. Some come together quickly and others are revealed at the very end. The love they started continues to hold them together through it all. Trusted people are questioned on both sides of their relationship but those questions threaten to tear them apart forever.
DREAMY’S REVIEW
Corrupt Savior is the conclusion of Aislinn and Damon’s story in the Wages of Sin duet. It picks up right where left off on the cliffhanger for Cruel Sanctuary…
Damon is out, angry, and full of Wrath while Aislinn is determined to save her own self from her kidnapper(s).
“I can’t lose focus. I’m not a little girl anymore. I’m not collateral damage. This time, I was taken alone. This time, I am the target. I was stolen from under the King’s nose. They want me.”
What I loved the most about this was Aislinn’s strength, her willingness to see herself out the situation she was in, and her determination to see it through. We see her in a completely different light under the circumstances, and it made me love her more. She needed to be free and find her way back to Damon.
“What if I never return to the man I’ve been taken from?”
What I loved most about Damon was his love, fierce loyalty, and determination to find Aislinn. I loved how even when there were times of doubt, his love shined through. He didn’t give up, even when circumstances weren’t exactly on his side. Aislinn was his home and he needed her to breathe steadily again.
“Aislinn saw light in my darkness and called it beautiful.”
The twists and turns, the truths you learn while reading will shock you! The corruption and the way people are being played is like a game.
Aislinn Granville is no longer a pawn for anyone. Damon King is still who he is and always has been.
I loved how Aislinn’s character evolved in Corrupt Savior and I loved how Damon embraced her and her love.
“I am desperate to revel in the raging storm that Damon and I create when we are together. The kind of storm that deserves a name. Deserves to be written in the history books for its power… and for the toll of its destruction.”
*****
Tara Leigh’s writing remains superb! The book itself is paced perfectly, the plot remaining captivating, and our hero and heroine super intriguing in their growth throughout the book!
My only issues were the dark aspect, yet again. When it comes to dark romance, I have a high regard and expectation because it’s something I live for. Again, this is dark, in its sense, but on the more tamer side of things. Also, the whole issue with the “mole,” got glossed over way too quickly. I felt the last few chapters felt a bit rushed and I wanted just a bit more!
Nonetheless, I did enjoy this duet so much! Tara Leigh wrote some unforgettable characters with an amazing plot!
I cannot wait to see what this author has in store for us in the future!
Four and half dreamy stars:
Corrupt Savior
5 Stars
ARC received from author
This is an honest review opinions expressed are my own…
This is Book #2 in the Wages of Sin series ( Book #1 Cruel Sanctuary should be read first)
Tara Leigh has written another “ I can’t put this book down” it & read in a 24HR period …
The story picks up from where Aislinn is kidnapped & Damon is trying to do everything in his power to find her …
There are a # of major plot twists & although I thought I had an idea who was behind some of what was happening in the book – other things caught me off guard & were like WOW !! In typical Tara Leigh fashion you are in love with her 2 main characters ( Aislinn & Damon ) so much so for me that I did not want this book to end. Another sign for me that I absolutely love a story is that I am re-reading ( currently doing this now )
This book checks all my boxes for not only an amazing romance but great storyline & intriguing plot … so much so that I think I have to say The Wages of Sin series are now my favorite books by this author …
Specifically for me – loved all of below :
Strong & engaging characters
Damon is swoon worthy & has super sizzling chemistry with Aislinn
Very strong female heroine – aka Firecracker
Enemies to lovers – then marriage but with out the “L” word being initially discussed …
At times laugh out loud humor ( some great one liners !!! )
You are also in for a treat with a great epilogue – as well as a second (5) yrs in the future … personally I just want more -more & MORE of these two …
There is one part I absolutely love that just pulled at my heart strings – in order for these 2 adults to find “fun” in their lives after a major misunderstanding – they have a game night where they both end up learning a lot about the other –
I could really relate to that as sometimes in a long standing relationship it’s important to keep “the fun” in our lives !! = Scrabble
And who would not want someone to say to them – instead of I love you – you are my EVERYTHING !!!
This series is a top ten favorite(s) read for the year !!
Thank you so much Tara Leigh for writing characters so many of us can relate to AWESOME WORK
Once again, Author Tara Leigh has slayed me! Corrupt Savior, book 2 in the Wages of Sin Duet, has gripped me deep and pulled dark feelings from me that I never knew I had. I was so excited to get my hands on this book after the cliffy left by book 1, Cruel Sanctuary…and Tara absolutely didn’t disappoint!
This story of Aislinn Granville and Damon King is such a perfect combination of darkness and light. Heat and Cold. Love and Lust. Princess and devil. The characters in this duet will be characters you remember. Not just the main characters, but the supportive…Michael, Chad, Aislinn’s father, sister…everyone is just so memorable!
I LOVE Tara Leigh’s writing style. This particular duet is dual POV, which is my favorite anyway…but the combination and what she gives from each shows everything! I could not put this book down! I loved feeling the struggle Aislinn was going through…not just reading it…but actually FEELING it! This book had love, lust, heat, sex, struggle, angst…it had it ALL! I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this book/series…but reading book 1 first is a MUST! EASY 5 star rating from me!
Aislinn and Damon’s story that began in Cruel Sanctuary however they now find themselves apart. When Aislinn is abducted she is no wilting flower waiting for her white knight to swoop in and rescue her. Rather she shows her independent and feisty side she is determined to do what she can to try and escape even though she knows that he is doing everything he can to rescue her.
Now that Aislinn is gone it forces Damon to realize how deep his feelings for her are. He will stop at nothing to bring her home and beware anyone who tries to stand in his way however even when they are reunited the danger is far from over.
This story takes you on a wild adventure filled with intrigue, suspense, secrets and a chemistry that just gets hotter as they acknowledge their feelings for each other. This is a great conclusion to the Wage of Sin duet.
WOW!! This is one of my top favorite duets! You need to read Cruel Sanctuary before reading this one. Corrupt Savior picks up right where we left off in Cruel Sanctuary and the story keeps going with amazing momentum! Damon and Aislinn’s story is so well written! I do think the end was a little rushed, but the rest of the story was amazing!
4.5 stars
I loved Cruel Sanctuary and couldn’t wait for this book to be released. Corrupt Savior did not disappoint!
As expected, Damon is ready to burn the world down in order to find Aislinn, and she is determined to save herself if at all possible. There are many tense moments and self- recriminations until they are reunited, but after a blazing hot reunion, things are not all rainbows and roses. Enemies are everywhere, and Aislinn has reason to suspect a mole in Damon’s organization. Top that off with the fact that Damon has no idea how to deal with or acknowledge the feelings threaten to overwhelm him when it comes to Aislinn and it’s about to get turbulent!
Corrupt Savior was a very fitting end to their story, and I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for us next.
Unputdownable & Unforgettable!! This was intensely addictive, passionate and a enthralling ride until the end. I was so worried about this series when I started reading it because I just don’t read dark romances. But this was filled with everything that I love in romance stories and so much more.
Damon and Aislinn stole my heart and will stay in my soul for quite sometime. While Tara Leigh stole all my preconceived ideas and turned them on their head, making me a fan girl for her writing. This was a Phenomenal ending to this series, where Aislinn proves that she is Damon’s Queen. But that is all that you will get out of me. You don’t want to miss this series! It was FANTASTIC!!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Corrupt Savior is book two in the Wages of Sin duet by Tara Leigh. This book starts up right where the previous book, Cruel Sanctuary, left off. But, the author is kind enough to give us a few reminders of what happened in the previous book in case you’ve forgotten a few of the details. There is one bit of advice I can give you going in, though. Have something tight to hold on to because you’re going to need it.
Aislinn Granville is in the hands of her kidnappers. We see a whole new Aislinn during this time. She is determined not to let herself fall apart. She’s sure Damon is looking for her, she hopes so anyway. But she needs to save herself, so she can return to him. As the details emerge of why she was taken, I was surprised.
Damon King is crazed with need to bring his princess home. He is turning the city upside down looking for her. It’s during this time that he finally is forced to accept that he can’t stand the thought of his life without Aislinn in it. He also knows that whoever took her, whoever touched her, will pay the price with his life.
“The one woman I shouldn’t have has become the one woman I can’t live without.”
Aislinn is so tired of being a pawn. I am shocked at the waste of space that is her father. The man is pure evil. As is his Chief of Staff, Chad. She’s still not sure of her place in Damon’s life. Does he actually care for her or is she his pawn as well, his possession? Of one thing she is sure and that is her feelings for him. She loves him, her King.
“She is the air I breathe. The beat of my heart. The light to my dark. The goddess of my dreams.”
This is told from both Damon and Aislinn’s point of views. We’ve seen Aislinn grow so much from the first woman we met in the beginning of the previous book. Damon as well as he comes to terms with his feelings for Aislinn. We do still get some glimpses of his dark side, his very dark side, as he exacts his revenge. I gasped!
The sexy times in this book are hotter than hot. Damon and Aislinn burn up the pages. And even though Damon isn’t the sweet, romantic type of hero, as he accepts his feelings, his need for Aislinn, the softer side of him does begin to show. The side that will do anything to make her happy.
This book, this duet, is one crazy, wild ride. I loved every single page, every single word. Tara Leigh has once again shocked and amazed me. If you haven’t started book one yet, I hope you do it now so you’ll be all ready for this one. Believe me when I say you don’t want to miss this.
Fantastic ending to a great duet!!! Love, love, love!!!
Give me a moment to just…take it all in with Corrupt Savior. Ok, I am ready! I was BLOWN THE EFF AWAY by this story! Intense, darkly sensual, edge of your seat action packed and completely engaging, this book was an explosion of AMAZING!
Corrupt Savior is the second book of The Wages of Sin duet and it immediately picks up where book one ended. The story kept me on my toes and guessing and the many twists and sensual turns sure did keep me hot and bothered. I fell madly in love with Damon in book one, but I think I fell even more so in book 2. And Aislinn…oh this heroine is just THE BEST! She is incredible! Strong, fiesty, brave and impossible to dislike, the way she was so determined to save herself and get back to Damon was something extraordinary. This book was incredible. The story flowed brilliantly and I loved how everything panned out! This duet is a MUST READ AND A MUST OWN DUET! Its just THAT GOOD!
Corrupt Savior gets a MIND BLOWN FIVE AMAZING STARS!
Corrupt Savior is final conclusion to the Wages of Sin duet and Tara wraps this up neatly and presents the final touches of this crazy, wild journey of a whirlwind she has taken us on. Secrets, betrayal, suspense and passion are the foundation of this amazing story and Tara no doubt delivered it to us on a golden platter.
I loved how the characters Aislinn and Damon have endured so much and remain resilient and defiant through it all. Also the personal growth in both characters and the evolution of them with Aislinn being a fierce badass and Damon presenting a more softer, vulnerable side to him and the lengths he takes get Aislinn back.
Aislinn challenges Damon and doesn’t back down, she’s the light to his dark, the fiery Queen to the dark King. I love that she’s seen the best of him even at his worst and she isn’t afraid of who he is.
“I see you, Damon. I’ve always seen you. Now I see a little deeper is all.”
Overall the story kept me engaged as I consumed the this book page by page filled with twists and turns, hot steamy scenes, swoon worthy moments and definitely one of Tara’s darkest books to date. I love the dark side she has taken and would love to see more, thank you Tara!!
This book picks up right where Cruel Sanctuary left off so please make sure you read the first book in the duet before you begin this book. That being said…HOLY COW Things are crazy!!!
Aislinn Granville was kidnapped and now we find out just who is behind it and why, you may think you know whats going on but I don’t think you’ll guess the reasoning behind it all….like I said CRAZY! Anyway, Damon King has to get her back he cannot let his princess, his Queen be gone, he just can’t. Aislinn is everything to him and he begins to realize just how true that is as time passes.
I love the chemistry between Aislinn and Damon, there time together is not only HOT its sexy and steamy and wet and well HOT…you get the gist of what I’m saying, right!?!
This story has a lot of twists and turns and it’s one heck of a bumpy ride. Does the King get his Queen? Do they go off into the sunset and life happily ever after? Does Aislinn find out that Finley is her sister? What happens to Chad once he knows that he’s lost Aislinn for good? What about Aislinn’s father, the man that raised her, the corrupt politician? So many questions and they all get answered in this final book of the Duet. I have to say that I really hope we see Damon and Aislinn again, maybe in a story where Finley gets her HEA!
Happy Reading!!!
5 Star Review of Corrupt Savior (The Wages of Sin Duet #2) by Tara Leigh
This is the conclusion to The Wages of Sin Duet, so if you have not read Cruel Sanctuary, you need to stop and Corrupt Savior picked up where it ended.
I was hooked from the first to the last chapter and found myself absolutely riveted to the book, I couldn’t put it down. I am not sure if the author has written any other dark stories besides this duet but I have to say she did an outstanding job.
When Aislinn is kidnapped, Damon will leave no stone unturned in his frantic search to find her whilst Aislinn herself is determined to survive the horror she finds herself in.
Once Aislinn and Damon are reunited, it is not the end of the danger. The biggest issue is who can be trusted not to betray them as enemies surround them, perhaps even closer that they suspect.
The story was not only extremely suspenseful but it was hot with the chemistry between them intense and sizzling. Damon is not used to the word NO and yet the feisty and sassy Aislinn is not afraid to use it.
Can Damon and Aislinn create a future together or are they destined to be destroyed by those who surround them?
This was a conclusion that did justice to the story of Damon and Aislinn and I congratulate Tara Leigh on a brilliant duet.
Tara Leigh is back with the second book Wages of Sin book, Corrupt Savior. Wooweee is this book so HOT! I thought Tara Leigh had found her groove in writing some sexy smutty scenes in the first books BUT she totally proved me wrong and killed it in this book! Hot level is inferno in this book and Damon and Aislinn are burning up the sheets and other furniture!! This book picks up right where the last one left off- on that huge cliff hanger that had us all cursing Tara out! I couldn’t wait for this book and she didn’t disappoint on it. I loved this book and I have read it twice already. Damon and Aislinn really let it all out in this book and every time you think you know what will happen with this two, you can think again. It’s full of twists and turns and I love the characters in this duet. I can’t wait to see what you write next.
