Corduroy was first introduced to readers in 1968, and in the fifty years since, his adventures have never stopped. Corduroy has been on the department store shelf for a long time. Yet as soon as Lisa sees him, she knows that he’s the bear for her. Her mother, though, thinks he’s a little shopworn—he’s even missing a button! Still, Corduroy knows that with a bit of work he can tidy himself up and … tidy himself up and be just the bear for Lisa. And where better to start than with a nighttime adventure through the department store, searching for a new button!
Celebrate 50 years of this irresistible childhood classic, a heartwarming story about a little bear and a little girl finding the friend they have always wanted in each other.

Come on, how can you not love Corduroy? The little bear that was missing a button, and in the end, he gets not only a button, but also a new friend. It just warms the heart. Kind of like how my favorite corduroy pants warm my legs.
Another classic children’s book that I was able to read to my kiddos. The illustrations are in this book are amazing and colorful. They really grab the attention of the reader and make the story come alive. The text is simple enough that an early reader could read it on their own but also nice for a person to read aloud to a child. It’s a great book to add to a nursery library. Cassie really enjoyed this book and giggled a lot of the silly antics Corduroy did in the store.
Corduroy by Don Freeman – Pretty sure this is kindergarten required reading lol! This teddy bear is a classic! Happy Reading!

Favorite Children’s book
Corduroy is such a fun bear and you will love traveling through the store with him in this fun book.
It was my favorite book, as a kid I owned one but I think we got rid of it gave it away. Or it’s hidden somewhere, Love the story
This is truly a children’s let classic, it is wonderful, read it with your famiiy, read it all alone, it’s a keeper.
Educationally you can do so much with this book! Graph colors using butons, talk about feelings, other stuff animals, and a child’s feelings comparing Corduroy’s feelings.
It is one of my favorite children’s books. I read it to new generations of students
As always, Corduroy doesn’t disappoint. Great children’s Caldecott winner.
A story that will never go out of date!
A classic go to for my grandchildren who live it as much as my children did.
Still a childhood favorite, hoping to introduce it to my granddaughter.
Great fun for the grandkids. Good for learning to read.
Perfect for reading aloud and for young readers. Corduroy is a delightful little bear and the kids just love him.
I received this book in the mail as a freebie when my son was a toddler. I read it once to him and then had to read it over and over again to him. He loved it! I still have that same book and have been reading it to the kids who are enrolled in my day care for the past 24 years!
