He thought he was done. His career as a special forces sniper was over. He’d lost his leg and his dignity in that ambush. Now, after nearly a year of rehab, he was fighting the toughest battle in his life: prove he was still worthy to serve. His chance: Contract with Fury Security to pull protection for a rancher by the name of Sam Bishop. If he succeeded in routing out the bad guy, Cord would be … Cord would be back on the team.
The bonus:
He’d be able to get the hell away from all the counselors and therapists trying to tell him how to come to grips with his PTSD and missing limb. There were no emotions and feelings in west Texas, just rough necks and grit. Exactly what he needed.
The catch:
Sam’s real name is Samantha and she’s not a codgy old man – she’s the one girl from Cord’s past he never got over. He thought he’d lost his chance with her, and now that he wasn’t a whole man, he didn’t deserve her.
Samantha is determined to show Cord he’s everything she ever wanted. Her biggest battle isn’t the stalker threatening her life: it’s making Cord see he’s worthy of her love and so much more.

OMG. This book kept me riveted to my seat. Cord lost his leg in the war and thought he was a half of a man. Then he was sent to a ranch to protect someone by the the name of Sam. He assumed that Sam was a man. Little did he know that Sam was Samantha, the girl from his past. Samantha runs a rehabilitation ranch for veterans and horses. Someone is killing cows and scaring Sam. Cord has a second chance to get Sam.
I voluntarily received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
Cord lost a lot on his last mission. He’s trying to get thru rehab and back to his team. Someone from another team paid him a visit to see if he’d be interested in a test job. If he can pass this test he has a chance with the Scorpian team. He meets Sam (Samantha) at a ranch in Texas to help there. Pretty good book.
A second chance at love, Cords Chance is a quick read about an injured veteran taking a security assignment in order to prove he can still do his job. Samantha was his best friend in high school and now she is in trouble. The book ended too quick for me. I felt like I needed more but it is a good read.

Cord lost part of his leg in a RPG attack. He wants back with his Special Forces team but he has to prove he’s ready. He is to provide security for Sam Bishop at a ranch. Samantha owns a equine therapist and runs the ranch. Someone has been stalking her and she hires Fury Security. Cord doesn’t expect to find a girl who tutored him in high school and Sam doesn’t expect her high school crush until he broke her heart. But Cord is there to protect her and he’ll do the best he can. When he finds out what kind of place Sam runs because he didn’t realize it until days later, he explodes thinking everyone is trying to put him in therapy. Sam takes off and Cord goes after her but they get pinned down by a shooter. Can he save them before they are killed?
Sex, mystery, and action. A wounded soldier and a beautiful woman. Great story.
A quick, engaging beach read IMO. I’m definitely going to go to the beginning of the series since this was my first Lindsay Cross.
I received an ARC and am leaving a review because I liked the book.
Cords chance is a second chance romance. Obviously it follows Cord and Sam. Cord was injured while deployed. His recovery is going well, but before he can go back into the armed forces he needs to prove he can still do the job.
He is hired at a security firm and he is given a job at a farm where there have been some issues. Enter in Sam a girl from high school.
Protecting Sam is going to be a little tricky since there are some unresolved issues between the two of them. It was a good, fun read. The tension between the two of them can be felt by everyone.
Lindsay Cross was a new author for me, I will read more by her. You can’t go wrong with reading this story.
Cord is a wounded warrior trying to get back to fighting form and back to his team. When he’s sent on a job for Fury Security he’s reunited with a high school crush. Samantha and Cord had a crush on each other in high school, but never acted on their feelings. Cord felt he wasn’t good enough for Sam. They’re unexpectedly reunited when the security job Cord is sent on turns out to be Sam. The feelings are still there and these two can’t resist each other this time around. I love these two together. Some mystery, action, suspense, and sizzling chemistry makes this a great read.
Cord’s Chance is the seventh book in the Men of Mercy series. This can be read as a standalone. There is violence and sex so 18+. This story was different than a lot of military type romantic suspense that is out there. I have enjoyed the Men of Mercy series and Cord’s Chance was no exception. I’m looking forward to reading more books from this author.
I loved this book! I was drawn in from page one and it wouldn’t let me go. I could not put this book down. This is my first book by Lindsey Cross and I already cant wait to read more. I loved Cord and Sam from the very beginning. I also really liked the rehab aspect of this story, and it was nice to see how giving Sam is to both wounded animals and people. Sam and Cord are great characters that understand each other really well. This was a major must read! Go get your copy now, you wont be sorry I promise.
Cord’s Chance by Lindsay Cross is amazing. This book is part of the Men of Mercy series. This is the story of Cord and Samantha (Sam). Cord is in Special Forces and was injured when an RPG took his leg. He trying to keep his position on his team so he pushes himself to hard. Sam is a therapist who open a therapy ranch for injured veterans to get counseling and therapy. She left her hometown when her grandfather left her the ranch and to get away from her abusive ex. Also Sam and Cord have known each other high school. They have been in love with each since then but refuse to admit it to themselves or anyone else. Cord thinks he is not good enough for her because of his family and past. Cord is given a job by Fury Security to protect a rancher named Sam Bishop from a stalker, which he does not know is really his Sam from high school. Will Sam’s stalker be found for any harm comes to her or any of her patients? Will Cord overcome his injuries and be able to return to his team? Will Sam and Cord both be able to overcome their pasts and get their HEA? You will need to read the book to get the answer to these questions. I definitely recommend this book and can’t wait until Lindsay’s next book.
Cord and Sam were great together! Cord is injured and wants to join his team again but won’t let anyone really near him and Sam is the one who Cord has thought about for years. He takes an assignment and fate throws them together again. I loved reading their
I enjoyed this story from Lindsay Cross. It had all the requisite elements that I have come to expect, mystery, angst, and emotional intensity. This particular story is one of possibilities. Cord has the opportunity to secure a new job, having worked tirelessly with his rehab after losing hi leg. Little does he expect that he will be reunited with the woman he once secretly harboured a crush for. Sam has worked hard to make the therapy program she runs from her ranch a success. Unfortunately a stalker is intent on disrupting her life. A story of growth, second chances and romance.
I enjoyed this new addition to the series. Cord felt like his life was over but has a chance for something if he can fulfill his new assignment. He didn’t expect to find his ex and get a second chance too.
Samantha and Cord have great chemistry. Both of them are good people trying to do their best. The story has a great mix of action and romance and kept me eager to read more.
I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

Enjoyed reading.
Voluntarily reviewed.
Sorry no spoilers of any kind because I’m not the kind of person that does that.
So with that being said this is all I’m going to say about this book and that is it’s a pretty awesome story I really enjoyed getting lost in its pages and I was kinda sad that I had to climb out when I got to the end of the book.
So yes I do recommend Cord’s Chance because I think it’s an amazing book and you should read it.
Cord is not dealing with his mental injuries well after a serious incident. To re-qualify for his team, he is sent on a protective mission. Sam loves her job helping disabled vets but a stalker is terrifying her. She is surprised when Cord shows up. Difficult to tell what service Cord was in with several thrown in. I would have liked a few more chapters or an epilogue to finish the story. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
This was a great second chance love story. Cord and Sam were great. Sam loved Cord and wanted to prove that he was all the man she needed.
This was a great story about healing and second chances, with some suspense added in. Cord and Samantha were good friends in high school, but Samantha always had a crush on him. Cord didn’t think he was good enough for Samantha, so he kept her friend zoned and kept his feelings hidden. There second chance happens several years later when after being injured, Cord is assigned to protect Samantha from a stalker.
I absolutely loved this book. This is a fast pace read that I read in one sitting. Couldn’t put it down. It has everything from suspense, drama and love. This book is part of the Men of Mercy series but can be read as a stand alone.
I received a copy of this e-book from the author/publisher and am voluntarily leaving an honest opinion
I have to admit to having a weakness for military romances like this one because every one of these characters could be a real American hero that we need to keep in our thoughts and prayers every day. Cord is a tortured man in constant pain after losing his leg and his career for his country. When a friend offers him a protection assignment on a ranch in Texas he’s shocked to find the man he’s assigned to protect is actually a woman from his past. Now he’s faced with long forgotten feelings, an unknown enemy and a betrayal that will cut right to the bone. Cord is a fascinating Alpha hero with integrity, passion and true dedication to both the woman and the country that he loves. This is a fabulous action-packed storyline from one of my favorite military authors. I read an early copy of this book and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.
