Cora Miller is fiercely independent and stubborn to a fault. Betrayed more than once by men she thought she could trust, she’s learned to rely only on herself. As the oldest of four siblings, she feels responsible for leading her family safely on the Oregon Trail for a new start.Nathaniel Wilder is no stranger to the hardships and dangers of the wilderness. Raised with his brothers by a trapper … a trapper in the remote mountains, he left behind the mistakes he’s made in the past. He’s been called reckless and irresponsible, but won’t hesitate to help someone in need.
A foolhardy mishap puts Nathaniel in the direct path of a stubborn, yet beautiful woman with fire in her eyes. Despite her refusal of help, he is determined to prove she can depend on him. When her pride puts her and her family in peril, Cora accepts that she can’t do it on her own. If misgivings can turn to trust, or even love, both Cora and Nathaniel could come out stronger in the end.

A good plot and characters. Thoroughly entertaining.
Predictable but still worth reading
fun, entertaining characters. Predictable, yet enough twists to keep you interested.
This was a good book with a great story. I imagine the struggles for women traveling by wagon train were very real.
Good plot, lots of action, adventure, and romance. The characters were varied and well-rounded. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a western romance.
Loved the book
This was a great read. Very unique in its ability to allow you to immerse into the story and feel that you are traveling through the same territory and Corra. Even though it is the same old theme boy meets girl boy has to attract girl boy gets girl, there were a lot of entertaining small twists and an ending which had a few suprises.
After the death of her mother, Cora decides to sell the family farm in the Ohio territory and travel west with her younger siblings and a best friend. Because she witnessed her father’s desertion of his wife and family, Cora relies only on herself to achieve the move to Oregon. But the wagon master requires Cora to marry before she can travel west with the wagon train. Things continue to go wrong throughout the story. But mountain man Nathaniel sets out to win Cora’s heart despite her self-sufficient pride.
Good reading.
I like these books that tell about history. so entertaining!
I enjoyed this book although I could tell where it was going to end up.
The characters seem to come alive
Enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed this western story on the Oregon Trail. Cora was a very frustrating character, yet interesting. Nathaniel was an amazing man, almost too good to be true. Could they get together and be happy? Read and find out.
Another book about the hardships with the settling of the old west
Loved the characters and getting insight into western travel and dangers. I could envision the people and land. A gifted storyteller!
Cora is afraid that another man will disappoint her, so she puts her family at risk as they try to reach Oregon.
I could have done without the sex scenes in this book.
Great character development….could feel their emotions, beliefs and wants. Definitely a well written story!
This book was very interesting from the beginning. I love period westerns, especially wagon train adventures. Several twists and turns in this story, and is carried on in other books in the series. No explicit sex or bad language
I loved it!! I like historical romances!!
