Cora Miller is fiercely independent and stubborn to a fault. Betrayed more than once by men she thought she could trust, she’s learned to rely only on herself. As the oldest of four siblings, she feels responsible for leading her family safely on the Oregon Trail for a new start.Nathaniel Wilder is no stranger to the hardships and dangers of the wilderness. Raised with his brothers by a trapper … a trapper in the remote mountains, he left behind the mistakes he’s made in the past. He’s been called reckless and irresponsible, but won’t hesitate to help someone in need.
A foolhardy mishap puts Nathaniel in the direct path of a stubborn, yet beautiful woman with fire in her eyes. Despite her refusal of help, he is determined to prove she can depend on him. When her pride puts her and her family in peril, Cora accepts that she can’t do it on her own. If misgivings can turn to trust, or even love, both Cora and Nathaniel could come out stronger in the end.

I actually rate “Cora’s Pride” (nook) as 3-1/2 stars. The book was enjoyable and I liked the plot. Both Cora and Nathaniel are strong and have high moral standards. They both do admit to their weaknesses and I like that.
Cons: When Nathaniel was shot and his brother Trevor poked into the bullet hole, it purportedly was to see if the bullet was still there. According to Trevor he had sewn up bullet holes before and “learned real good from a healer.” It should have been second nature to him to look for an exit wound prior to inserting a finger into the wound.
All-in-all, I still recommend the book.
Being responsible for your family and female, tough job and add the hardships of traveling out west in dangerous country. Sweet romance for one hard-headed woman.
Better the 2nd time and in sequence with the Yellowstone Romance Series AND the Teton Romance Series
Author told a wonderful story without using vulgar language or graphic sex – looking forward to reading more books by Peggy Henderson
I’m sorry, but I couldn’t get past chapter 4 before giving up.
There was too much of repeating of thoughts and not enough character
development in my opinion.
Also not enough description period. I didn’t feel like I was there experiencing
it with them. Disappointing
The book was entertaining with unexpected twists and turns with a happy ending.
Awesome read
Enjoyed the frontier setting and the brave female characters. Great read. Can’t wait to read more in the series.
Not realistic but cute characters
Peggy Henderson always delivers a solid story and this is no different. There is a fiesty heroine (sometimes too fiesty) who has been betrayed by men, and a noble heroine who helps her regardless. There are brothers and sisters who also help and the story moves along well.
Interesting story.
Great book ! Couldn’t put it down!
Enjoyed reading about her adventure to the wilderness and her tenacity of being on her own with her siblings.
Nice read.
Good read
I loved this book so much I purchased the next two in the series and will do the 4th one too!
If you’re looking for an adventurous
book that is set in the 1850’s in the
Rocky Mountains of Idaho & Wyoming,
“Cora’s Pride” is just for you!! For good
reason, Cora has trust issues concerning men. However, along
comes Nate Wilder and Cora finally
learns to trust honorable and
trustworthy Nate after he is shot,
saving Cora’s life. Cora and the rest
of her siblings eventually realize the
love and goodness in the hearts of
some people. You’ll love the well
developed characters as well as the
beautiful scenery described, all around
them. So if you appreciate the strength
and bravery of the people who settled
our country, along with their ingenuity
and resourcefulness, then you too
will enjoy this novel!!
