New York Times bestselling and Newbery Medal-winning author Neil Gaiman’s modern classic, Coraline—also an Academy Award-nominated film
“Coraline discovered the door a little while after they moved into the house….”
When Coraline steps through a door to find another house strangely similar to her own (only better), things seem marvelous.
But there’s another mother there, and another father, … house strangely similar to her own (only better), things seem marvelous.
But there’s another mother there, and another father, and they want her to stay and be their little girl. They want to change her and never let her go.
Coraline will have to fight with all her wit and courage if she is to save herself and return to her ordinary life.
Neil Gaiman’s Coraline is a can’t-miss classic that enthralls readers age 8 to 12 but also adults who enjoy a perfect smart spooky read.

Oh, Neil Gaiman, you are so wonderful at traumatizing children. I love you so. . .
But seriously now, Neil Gaiman is one of my absolute favorites, and this is him at the top of his game. Coraline has a wonderful creepy tone, and the dual worlds are frightening but not too frightening for kids who like a scary read. Coraline is also a plunky, …
Breathtaking in its harrowing simplicity and economy of execution.
Coraline is a traditional fairytale as far as being creepy and a little scary for children. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I listened to the version that has a different author reading every chapter except the first and last that are read by Neil Gaiman. One thing I love about Neil Gaiman’s stories is that girls don’t wait for someone else to rescue …
Did not disappoint. I am an adult, I can say with all certainty that Coraline is not just a childs book. The unimaginable and fantastical world that is created here is wonderful.
Coraline really resonated with the child in me. I grew up in an apartment that was cut from a larger hole and we had two such doors. One was inaccessible behind the sink …
Um…what?
I am not exactly sure why I hung in there with this odd and quirky audiobook. It is soooooo not my jam.
I couldn’t just relax and go with it, it’s weird AF.
I did enjoy the author’s narration, he is pretty enthusiastic.
Wonderful book. Highly imaginative.
I preferred his other novels. This was a fast, easy read and an OK way to spend some free time.
Emotionally terrifying, glad I’m an adult!
Wonderful book. Fun to read.
This was a fun little read. Good prose, characters did not get too cutesy, was eerie and atmospheric. good bit of light reading
I like Gaiman and Dahl, and this book combines elements of both writers to great effect.
One of my favorite childhood books.
It’s a Gaiman. Always worth reading. Read it as an adult, put it in the school library, sent it to my nephew and bought the graphic novel version more than once. Gifts, you know. Between this and his ‘The Graveyard Book’ most reluctant readers will want to read.
Coraline by Neil Gaiman was unexpectedly dark for a children’s book. It was a very enjoyable read, and readable in one sitting. The book was suitable for children, but was much darker than other children’s books in the same genre. It has a depth that makes it an enjoyable read for adults as well. The book differed from the movie and I liked the …
I read Coraline last night. All of it. Every word. Wafting through my head in Neil Gaiman’s deep slow British voice. It took hours, but I couldn’t stop until the little girl had set her world back to rights.
If you haven’t met her, Coraline is a bored little girl who prefers microwaved pizza and chocolate cake; who turns up her nose at her …
USA Today compared the supernatural world that Coraline entered with the “strange and frightening” wonderland that Lewis Carroll’s Alice explored. For me, Coraline’s world is not just “frightening”; it’s horrific. Coraline is a story in which horrific images are described in a matter-of-fact way, which makes them even more ghastly—and …
An unusual but fairly gripping story.
If it wasn’t written by the famous Neil Gaiman I’m certain I’d have quit reading it after the first couple of pages. Seemed a very childish writing style but this was only at the beginning of the book. Not one of my favourite Gaiman works.
Coraline is an interesting read. Though it is dark for a children’s book, I believe that children can enjoy it because of the main character. Coraline is a girl who sets out to right the wrongs that she herself set in motion (though she didn’t know what she was getting into at first). She is strong and uses her wits to help solve the problems that …
Memorable book with a unique parallel world, eerie details I still remember from when I first read it and a great message to appreciate what you have.
This book is my favourite and Neil Gaiman is my favourite author because of this book. My father used to read this to me when I was 5 to 7 years old almost every week we would read at least once before I sleep. I love this book more than anything honestly it’s like “An imperial affliction” to hazel in The fault in our stars. That’s how much i …
