This is the sixth book in the Unlikely Partners series. This story is about Agents Daphne Taylor and Jason Patterson. Daphne’s focus is on her career and she is hiding a big secret from Jason. A secret that will change their lives. When she gets selected to be a competitor on a cooking show, a freak accident causes that secret to be revealed. Jason realizes he is ready for that change and ready for more with Daphne. Murder, mystery, and suspense are all the ingredients that go into making this a definite page-turner. I was pulled into the story right from the start and was immersed till the very end. Daphne and Jason’s characters were well-developed and had great personalities which gave them an authentic quality. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all the books in this series so far, and this book is definitely added to that list!

I absolutely love this series!! I found the storyline about Daphne and Jason just wonderful and the case they were on was so original. Having Daphne have to mingle and Be Nice to everyday people as one of the contestants on a televised cooking competition was pure genius! (Maybe Ms. Sookoo watches one of my favorite baking shows out of the UK too?) It showed a side to the persona of Daphne that readers would have thought did not exist, plus we were able to get more of her backstory and to see that she really was a caring person underneath the walls and shields that she had put into place to protect herself from being hurt by anyone she would have let get close that had then made her into the cold and unfeeling person we first met in Book 2. I also really like how the author has her heroes be less than perfect with flaws and insecurities of their own that they have to deal with and come to terms with, in both their personal and professional lives before they will allow themselves to reach for that HEA! I am looking forward to reading more books in this series and I sincerely hope that there will be stories for some of the secondary characters that we have met along the way.

A drunken night after a wedding has longer reaching consequences for two FBI agents.
For someone not in a relationship and someone who never thought having children would be a part of their lives, there are many instances of re imagining personal and career paths..
For law enforcement or lab work, there are physical threats to the baby and mother.
An unanticipated undercover assignment with the baby daddy gets more than a little awkward. How do you tell someone who is your partner and friend, not your regular liver or beau, something that personal with a team around ? Hormones rampant, there’s a lot of room for tmi.
Scary and sweet relationship dynamics, murder, contest mayhem and humor.
I received an advance copy from Booksprout and voluntary am sharing my opinion.
I have read most of the books in this series on Kindle
A wonderful story with believable characters and more than a few plot twists. The layered plot of accidents and murder along with cooking competitions keeps you firmly engaged from beginning to end. The multi dimensional characters capture your heart. Though provoking and entertaining.
