This is another riveting read in the NYC Doms series. Once again Jane Henry has outdone herself with Conviction, which is the third book in the series. Brax and Zoe have a sizzling hot chemistry but, he is a dominant and she is far from submissive. This is a steamy five read and I would definitely recommend it.
Jane Henry’s “Conviction” is book 2 in the new NYC Doms series and we get to see Brax go toe-to-balls with Zoe, a NYPD officer. Brax is a member of Verge, the newest bondage club in NYC, and Zoe is anything but submissive. Anything.
Likes: I really enjoyed the story’s opening as we see a much more relaxed and fun Zoe and the sudden chemistry between her and Brax sets the tone for this story. Their chemistry is fantastic, as is the romance, and I really enjoyed the mystery element, which extended quite high up the ladder. Dislikes: While I’m a huge fan of strong female characters, Zoe’s defensiveness was sometimes a struggle to read. However, I do confess to enjoying how melty she got after Brax too her in hand. Mmmmm…yum.
This is an enjoyable series and while each story functions as a standalone, this one more than story 2, it doesn’t hurt to start with book 1.
This is the third book in the NYC Doms Series. I love this Series. Braxton and Zoe’s story is well written, and suspenseful. Braxton is dominant, caring and protective. Zoe is sassy, badass, and stubborn. These two are like fire. This is my favorite story in the Series. Gunnar Qualen and Jenna St. Claire did a fantastic job with the narration. I love their voices together.
Awesome Story & Narration Captivating, Thrilling & SmokingHot!
Conviction
NYC Doms, Book 3
By: Jane Henry
Narrated by: Gunnar Qualen, Jenna St. Claire
This is the third book in Jane Henry’s “NYC Doms” series and it is just as great as the other books in the series. I love that each book in this series is unique to it’s characters and has its own vibe and air about it. “Conviction” is Braxton Cannon and Zoe MacKay’s story, Braxton is a Dom and a member of Club Verge. Zoe Mackay catches his eye while and he was instantly attracted to her. He is not your usual Dom and she is not your usual submissive but they do manage to have a steamy one night stand. But it does not end there, circumstances bring them together again and when he finds out she is in trouble and the trouble is deep he can not help but help her. I loved how everything plays out in this book, there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, angst, mystery, twists and turns, thrilling suspense and the start of a meaningful relationship with some hot loving. Jane Henry, thank you for another amazing book and emotional rollercoaster ride.
I listened to the Audible edition, Gunnar Qualen and Jenna St. Claire are awesome narrators and voice artists. They do a great job at portraying the characters, bringing them to life giving each their own voice and personality. They set the perfect tone for the story and you could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture and project the characters emotions into their performance. They are are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen
Book 3 of the series, which can be read as a stand-alone. These are well rounded characters with flaws and imperfections, both have a past and demons they must face and fight in order to achieve what they truly deserve in the end – a HEA.
Braxton “Brax” Cannon a private Investigator and an Alpha Dom sees Zoe on the dance floor at a friend’s wedding reception. From their first meeting – sparks fly and have a night of passion. Zoe MacKay is a feisty NYC police officer with a softer side. She needs Brax’s help with a case.
The chemistry between the two of them is fantastic. The author’s style of writing is sophisticated and compelling. Leaving the reader wanting to turn the page to see what is coming next, how will they find true love? Will Zoe trust Brax enough to completely and fully submit to him? This book is fabulous and leaves the reader satisfied how each piece is put together and questions answered. The sex, play, and spanking that take place in the BDSM club Verge as well as out is HOT!
Conviction
NYC Doms, Book 3
By: Jane Henry
Narrated by: Gunnar Qualen, Jenna St. Claire
No one writes better romantic suspense with a touch of darkness than Jane Henry. The NYC Doms series is sizzling with alpha males and danger, and each story just gets better. This is the third in the series, and though it can stand alone, I love listening to a series in order. Brax and Zoe meet on the dance floor, and with the explosive chemistry they have a night of incredible passion. Brax is taken with her and when she shows up at his place of business to hire a private investigator, his feelings of protectiveness are kicked into high gear. Not only is he attracted to her, but he will not let any danger come to this woman. And our story goes from there into hot romance with thrilling scenes and intense and menacing threats that just ramp up the excitement. I love the characters Henry writes. Brax is incredibly dominant. He knows what he wants, and it’s Zoe. Problem is, Zoe is no submissive. Or is she? These two are combustible, and the story intriguing. Keep them coming Jane, you have a true fan ready for more!
Narrated by Gunnar Qualen and Jenna St Claire, it’s brought to life as a movie in my mind. With GQ/s smooth, sexy baritone, the alpha voice is captivating, and pulled me in from the very start. Then add St Claire’s spunky, aggressively independent voice, and we have not only a super fiery couple, but one that exudes chemistry. They bring it with each scene and let us live the danger and the passion. An amazing performance you will not want to miss.

Zoe and Brax had one night together that she won’t ever forget. She’s a tough, kick butt police officer but becomes someone who needs protection when she finds evidence that could get her killed. Guess who gets to protect her? Brax!! The chemisty between the two is over the top and get heated really quick. Will Brax and the other guys be able to get to Zoe when her life is in danger? I loved the flow of this and the sexiness of the whole story! Out of the three books so far, this is my favorite to date! Loved, loved, loved it!!
Zoe is a hard nosed cop who carries around a ton of baggage from her childhood. Someone wants her dead. Braxton is a bodyguard, bouncer and a Dom. Seeing Zoe for the first time on a dance floor he is attracted to this wildly uninhibited, sexy, beautiful woman. He gets caught up in her drama and his protective mode kicks in. They work together to unravel the mystery behind who’s out to get her. At the same time Brax works to break down this tough as nails woman who makes him work for every bit of her submission.
Conviction is the third book in the NYC Dom series and it might just be my favorite! I am a sucker for romantic suspense and this book has that along with two main characters that have baggage, chemistry, banter and heat! This book stands alone however I recommend reading the series in order due to all the inter-connected characters. Zoe is a young police officer and partner to Zach from the series and his story was book 2. Brax is our favorite dungeon master and has also been mentioned throughout the series. Zoe is no damsel in distress however she is in a bad situation and a chance meeting with Brax at Zach’s wedding has the two working to solve Zoe’s problem. Brax is 100% Alpha Dom and Zoe is no one’s submissive so it’s a fun time watching these two learn to mesh together. Conviction is a solid 4 1/2 stars in my opinion. I can’t wait to read what is next in this series!
NYC Doms are back!!
Brax and Zoe are brought back together just hours after their extremely hot hook up. Zoe being a cop is definitely not one to take orders, so why is it when Brax gives her a command she instantly wants to obey? This does not sit well with her at all. And now that Brax is in charge of her safety he’ll stop at nothing to keep her that way, safe. Even if he has to combine his pure pleasure, dominance, to get her to stop putting herself in danger, that’s just more fun for him. They just better make his dominance and her extreme strong will work together before whoever it is that’s after Zoe finds her.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Braxton and Zoe meet at the wedding reception for their mutual friends, Bea and Zach. Their instant chemistry leads to a scintillating one-night-stand, but after parting in the morning they almost immediately meet again as Zoe seeks help from the private investigation firm that Brax just started working for.
Zoe is a capable police officer, more than ready to protect herself and rush headlong into the investigation. Brax just wants to keep her safe while they figure out what’s going on, and he’s increasingly frustrated by Zoe’s defiant, willful disregard for her own safety.
This conflict between the two leads to some steamy encounters that unearth a hidden desire in Zoe to be dominated and disciplined, even while she steadfastly refuses to become a submissive. Brax doesn’t want a traditional sub, preferring instead the feisty spitfire who makes him work for everything he takes. Their relationship is all about finding the perfect power exchange that will work for them both in and out of the bedroom.
It’s an action-packed adventure as Brax and Zoe stay one step ahead of the villains while gathering enough evidence to bring them all to justice. Throughout it all, they explore their intense emotional connection and learn to trust each other and work toward a common goal.
I absolutely loved these characters. Braxton is a growly, bossy Dom but he is not the least bit threatened by a strong-minded female. Zoe has endured so much trauma in her childhood, it’s easy to see why she needs to be independent, yet at the same time she craves the protection and shelter that she finds in submitting to Brax. It’s a perfect romance with brilliantly-written characters, and it was a non-stop read for me. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I am so thrilled with this book. This story to be is a little different in a really good way. Zoe has a fire to her that I enjoy. Brax is one swoon worthy Dom. There is a really great journey to this story that is remarkable. The writing and flow of this book is top notch. I absolutely recommend this book. Do read the other two in this series so you know about the secondary characters.
A wonderful romantic suspense with a splash of kink
This was a romantic suspense, that held my attention, with a totally alpha male Dom and a strong, feisty woman who wasn’t truly a submissive but who was ‘submissive for him’. Though I have heard great things about her writing, I haven’t read anything by Jane Henry before. Whilst this perhaps didn’t have quite so much kink/play as I would have liked, that was more than made up for with it’s fast paced and interesting story line.
Zoe is a cop who accidentally discovers a secret that puts her life at risk. Brax is the private investigator determined to keep her safe. However to further complicate matters they had a one night stand, Brax is a Dom and Zoe is so very much NOT a submissive. Can Brax not only keep Zoe safe but convince her to gift him her submission? Will Zoe be able to lower her walls and give her trust to a man?
The only thing that would have made this ‘better’ for me, would be for the story to have been a little bit longer by having a few more scenes of BDSM or kinky play. However that doesn’t mean I didn’t thoroughly enjoy this book, the story or the characters with in it.
I loved, loved, LOVED that Zoe never lost her feistiness, or strength of character. Too many novels with BDSM/kink start with a strong heroine who wilts into a wet lettuce in the presence of her Dom. Zoe continued to challenge Brax through out this story and not, in my mind at least, in a bratty way. The way they forged their own path and discovered their own way to be together was fantastic, it felt really natural too.
Often in this type of story the Dom can be too overbearing and make decisions for the heroine that firmly tread on the toes of my feminist sensibilities. Brax accepted and acknowledge Zoe’s own strengths and abilities. He allowed her to make decisions and be involved in her own ‘saving’ from danger, whilst also protecting and caring for her.
The side plots added extra depth and value to the story, complimenting the whole plot rather than distracting from it. They worked to give us extra depth on both characters, as well as allowing us to believe in their connection and relationship.
I truly believe that this book could be enjoyed by any reader who likes a well written romance story, even if BDSM/kink isn’t’ your usual genre. There are several ‘steamy’ scenes but these were tasteful and very much an organic part of the plot. Much as I love a hot and steamy read, I often end up skipping over scenes that are too frequent or too long. I didn’t skip any part of this book and it is one that makes for a very pleasant afternoon read.
This is the third book in the Doms of NYC series but it can be read as a standalone. Zoe is a police officer. Brax is a Dom and a Dungeon Master at Verge and has started working as a PI. They meet at a wedding reception and have a vanilla-ish one night stand. The next day Zoe is at the PI’s office in need of help. Brax happens to be the one doing the intake. They have a lot of chemistry; Zoe has a lot of baggage. The author does a great job with the underlying mystery.

This is a great book and series! Brax meets Zoe at Zach’s wedding and is instantly drawn to her on the dance floor. Zach is warned away but he sees that as a challenge, and boy is Zoe challenging. Zoe just graduated the academy and is now on the NYC police force but she comes with some major baggage. Her friend warned her away from Brax, but she is so drawn to him that she doesn’t heed her friend’s warnings. What was supposed to be a one-night stand turns into something a whole lot more. Will Zoe let Brax in and lean on him when her world is falling apart? Will Brax go all big, bad Dom on her to get her compliance?
When police officer Zoe Mackay has a hot one night stand with a guy at Club Verge, she never imagines he’ll be the man to offer her protection, protection she doesn’t think she needs. Braxton is a club bouncer, sometimes dungeon monitor and newly instated muscle for a PI firm. He’s also a Dom with a daughter who’s his highest priority. So when he spends a hot night with a woman who’s nothing like the subs he normally plays with at Verge, his protective instincts have him all growly and caveman-ish when it becomes obvious she needs his protection, even as she protests that she doesn’t need or want it.
Zoe and Brax are hot together. Seeing Zoe slowly come to trust Brax and come to terms with her need to submit to him in the bedroom was both entertaining and fun. I wanted Zoe to have come to terms with her dueling desires (to be tough and independent AND to submit in the bedroom) a little quicker, but considering her past, it was understanding why she fought Brax and his domination so hard. This installment of the NYC Doms series is steamy and emotionally satisfying, can’t wait for more!
Sexy, smart BDSM
Jane Henry’s Conviction is a wonderful addition to the exciting NYC Doms series. Braxton and Zoe while an unlikely pair have amazing chemistry at first meet that only grows fiercer as time goes by. The dialogue in this story is realistic and the plot has wonderful twist and turns that kept my interest. As always it was great fun to see what some of the couple’s from the previous books were up to. This book belongs on every BDSM reader’s bookshelf.
Jane Henry delivers once again. NYC Doms is one series not to miss. Although they can be stand alones, it is fun to read them in order. Conviction has a little bit of everything in it. Suspense, romance, bad guys, great guys, spankings, friendship and hot steamy scenes fill the pages. I could not put it down. This story is intense both with romance and suspense. Be prepared to get lost in the world of Conviction.
Braxton sees Zoe on the dance floor and becomes obsessed with her. When he runs into her again at thr PI office, things get sticky. Braxton must protect her and find out who is after her. Zoe is a cop and feels ahe can protect herself. Zoe begins to enjoy the feeling of safety when Braxton is around but she still gives him attitude to let him know she is a big girl. Braxton takes her over his knee when she became too sassy for her own good and Zoe enjoyed it. She started to seek out more. The people who are after Zoe are so close to her, that she must work with Braxton to bring justice to them, or risk losing everything.
I was provided an ARC of this book and this is my honest review……
Can a hardcore dom and a vanilla hardheaded cop find love?? Can one night ignite a long term relationship, maybe not, but it sure can start something!! Brax and Zoe are well written, compelling characters in this third book of the Doms of NYC series by Jane Henry. The chemistry is hot, the book moves quickly, and my oh my are there a few twists as well. Solid 4 stars
This is another great story from the NYC Doms series. This one finds Zoe and Braxton working together to bring down a crime group threatening Zoe. Zoe, an NYPD officer, is a tough, take no prisoners kind of girl. Braxton is a man that needs control, both in life and in a relationship. I love the clash as these two come together, and the two independent personalities find a way to merge into a single force.
As always with this author, the writing is really, really good. The balance of romance and adventure is perfect. I love the way she captures Zoe’s internal struggle, not only with submission, but with allowing someone into her heart. Braxton is kind, yet stern, and really exactly what Zoe needs.
