I love all of Jane Henry’s characters and books, so whenever a new one comes out, I have to hop right to it and read it. I always fall in love with all her characters, but Zoe, in this one? I think that Zoe is my favorite character. She’s feisty, she’s mouthy, she’s uber-independent, she’s so not submissive, and she’s just wonderful. There really isn’t anything about Zoe I don’t love.
At the wedding reception of her friend and partner Zack and his wife Bea, Zoe gets a wee bit tipsy and starts dancing with Brax. Ignoring Bea’s warning to stay away from him, she decides that she’s going to leave with him. Instead of taking her home, Brax takes her to Verge, the BDSM club where he’s the dungeon monitor, and they have their wicked way with each other.
Zoe figures that it’s nothing but a one night stand, but it turns out that there is so much more going on.
There is a lot of spanking and domination going on in here, but there’s so much more. Zoe isn’t a sub and trying to figure out what’s going on is really hard for her because she just doesn’t have the same point of reference. Brax is a good man, if a little bit of a butthead on occasion. It’s obvious that he cares a lot about what he does, no matter what he’s doing. He takes a lot of pride in doing the job right and caring for the people in need of it. I really love his character, and I think he works well with Zoe. I don’t think that any of the other guys we’ve seen so far in this series would’ve worked half as well.
She’s in his sights and he’s not backing off, no matter the warnings he gets.
One hot night with Zoe was all Braxton wanted. And boy did he get it, he also got a lot more than he bargained for the morning after.
This steamy, suspenseful page turner is a dual POV of Braxton, Dominant/PI, and Zoe, feisty police officer, who hook up for some hot bedroom action and are then thrown together in an unexpected turn of events that test them both, physically and emotionally.
This was my first book by this author and I really did enjoy it. it ticked many of my boxes and I look forward to seeing what comes next
The third book in the NY Doms series, but it can be read as a stand alone.
The story features Brax and Zoe. Both tehre friends warn them of each other, but if they actually listened, this book wouldn´t have been written.
Both of them have baggages and specially Zoe is hunted by her past, but that also make her fierce and full of determination. She is very independent and never had someone to lean on to, that is until she meets Brax.
I loved Brax. Big though guy on the outside, but with a big heart and I just melted at the scenes with his little girl.
I loved the interactions and banter between Brax and Zoe. It made me laugh, but it was also penty melting hot and full of emotion. It is a book that you will read in one sitting.
Loved the book. But Zoe grated on my last nerve sometimes. Instead of acting like a grown woman who by the way is a cop, she still acts like the once abused child she was. She’s all, I’m a grown independent woman that can defend myself. Mind you she went to a PI firm for help. And when she is told to do something that will keep her safe she agrees but in her mind she says things like, I’m going to do whatever I want like a petulant child. She cares about her friends and the people around her but she continuously does shit to put them in danger. Finally!!! She has redeemed herself a little. Brax has the patience of a saint. Love him.
