This is book one in the series and can be read as a complete standalone. It contains NO CHEATING, NO CLIFFHANGERS and a HEA. It also contains dark material not suitable for some readers.

They were two lovers who deserved to find their forever.

I found this book an emotional read that tore at my heart. Elyse was a young woman trying to live a life free from the parents that abused her. Going to college had been a dream that she was living, money was tight, but she was surviving. Then she met Hero, a man with a record and a chip on his shoulder that weighed heavily on him. Hero was attracted to Elyse from the beginning but, he could not stop from watching and, caring for her She was everything pure and sweet and, too good for him but, when she was in danger, he rescued her and with her love he would become that man worthy of her. Elyse saw through the walls Hero had erected around him; she loved him for the caring man he was and refused to back away from his love. They were two lovers who deserved to find their forever.

Hero (Strange name) has been to prison for murder. She’s (Elyse) from a dysfunctional family, never had any interactions with guys, super shy and immature. She meets Hero in college as she’s his tutor. Natural he thinks he can keep her separate from the seedy dark side of his life but that never works. It was a good story and steamy sex scenes. The is the prequel to the Broken Heroes Series. Highly recommend. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I’ve read a lot of books written by C. Hallman; she has done a great job at writing another good book; she is one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of books her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

Convict Me is the beginning of The Rossi Crime Family. A dark and gritty story about Hero and Elyse. The storyline is captivating and well written, the characters are complete opposites but they work. The chemistry is absolutely hot. The drama and mayhem is intriguing and intense. I definitely recommend this book and authors.

Convict Me had an enticing start. Hero, who went to jail for murder, is in college to get his degree. It was a promise he made to his mom before she died. He needs help and takes on a tutor. The last he was expecting was sweet and naive Elyse to show up late at their first tutoring session.
Elyse has always wanted to break free from her overprotective family, and going to college allows her that. But she needs the money from tutoring and, when Hero demands a kiss a payment for her lateness, she agrees. The attraction is instant.
Overall the story felt flat. Hero is smitten by her and is super protective. He treats her badly one minute, the next he feels bad about it. Elyse falls in love quickly and, despite how he treats her, she stays. The story is supposed to have a crime/mafia/cult theme that never fully develops. It was a miss for me.
Edit, edit, edit! I hate leaving a 3 star review but this is a constant issue with this author. I have read a few stories by these authors in the past but I got so frustrated with the sloppy editing I stopped. I’ve actually had the Rossi Crime Family sitting, waiting to read for a few years. Long enough, to see the box set changed several times and now it’s not even available. All the stories are single reads again and the cost to read the whole series is steep. Here’s the thing, I would get over that accept I can not justify the expense if the books are not properly edited. This book, isn’t prequel really it’s a full novel. It wasn’t given a new cover like the rest but the story was captivating and the romance had some angst, a little repetitive, but still very good and worth the time to read. I enjoyed the story but this book has been around for some time so it is frustrating that there were still too many edit mistakes that haven’t been updated and fixed. If I’m paying for a book it should be properly edited. This edits were silly mistakes that could have been caught by a grade school child – begin instead of being, plum instead of pump – at one Elyse is wearing skinny jeans and the next page she’s wearing a dress? Silly, stupid misses – easy to find and should have been fixed. There are about 10 and that frustrated me and the author lost a star. Now even though I enjoyed the story, I’m thinking twice about spending any more money to read the next 5 books in the series. I don’t u derstand it. This author has been ‘yelled’ at many time by many readers, yet it’s still a problem years later
I enjoyed this addition to the series. It wasn’t my absolute favorite, but I enjoyed the characters and how their story played out. I recommend giving it a read.

So this book is the prequel to the Rossi Crime family series where you meet Hero and Elyse. It’s not my favorite book but it does fill you in on what to expect.

Bad boy + Good girl = Heat between the sheets
Convict Me is the prequel to The Rossi Crime Family series. For me this is an okay book but not the best in the series, at least to me. But it is entertaining and the main characters have a lot of heat between them. It is just too bad that they act more immature than they are supposed to be, after all you should be able to actually talk with each other about things.
A very enjoyable story! Hero is very much the broken anti-hero except when Elyse is about. Then he’s everything she needs – supportive, caring, gentle, and more loving than he ever realized he could be. Of course, he’s also demanding, infuriating, possessive, and all sorts of bad boy trouble. Be prepared to have your heart ripped out!
Johnathan miller is an ex and is on his way to college where he meets elyse . . its love at first sight . and this was a good read . I highly recommended this read

Starting off with Hero’s POV, this angst filled OTT romance was a fast paced and totally enjoyable. I liked the writing style and the way the main characters were developed instead of “explained”.
Not a fan of prequels, but this one stood on it’s own.
Hero and Elyse were both broken in their own way, with a sweet underlying need for each other.
Loved the alpha male protector mode that Hero fell into immediately upon meeting Elyse.
A few boneheaded decisions and actions by Hero and Elyse that were frustrating to read, but ended in a tidy HEA for them nonetheless.

4.5 Stars
Enjoyed the read. I loved his protective, obsessive, dominant alpha male side coming out, and Elyse, the little, demure, innocent, sensitive, naive virgin. Of course I enjoyed the sex scenes! Those were the best parts!!! I want a Hero now!!
A very good and entertaining read. A young woman who has been protected her entire life meet a man who has just been released from prison. When she becomes his tutor at the college where they met, well, let’s just say it is surprising to both of them how they begin to feel for one another. When he past comes back to haunt him, things may not go as they want it to. Will they be able to make things work?

He’s a devil a shark a beast and a killer. Hero is fulfilling his dead mothers wish get a degree but his time in prison has taught him other things now he’s in the one place he doesn’t want to be college. Elyse shy reserved quiet she needs to stay in college to stay away from her controlling parents religious zealots so she tutors other students but her newest student is anything but a normal college boy he’s dark and intense and he’s interested in her she’s both scared and intrigued. Hero Alyse is the one thing that calms him but she’s also the one thing that drives him crazy even when she learns to much and he pushes her away she won’t give up and when her life is threatened Hero doesn’t care who he has to kill to save her. There’s allot of push and pull between them danger because of who he is and Alyse tends to put herself in danger in order to have independence. This was a fast paced intense romance read with control issues on several fronts and dangerous past as well as a crime element.
