I’m forced to choose between life and death in two hells that I can’t escape.Facing a prison sentence on a mysterious, unknown island with my infant daughter, I try to lay low and fly under the radar during my term, but Officer Matthew Kent has his sights locked in on me from the moment we have our first encounter. I find myself trapped in his private lair where my worst nightmare begins.… worst nightmare begins.
Handsome, obsessed, and haunted by his past, he’ll never let me go. Confined with my captor, love is no longer a choice because without him, I might not live long enough to make it out of here alive. My only instinct is to survive. There’s just one problem with our forbidden relationship: people are watching––and talking about it. Someone will die. Someone must die. But who will it be first?
Read this dark prison romance novel to find out who will make it out alive.

You had me at dark and twisted. Convicts on a boat shipped to a mysterious Island. What’s wrong with that? So good. This book grabbed my attention right from the beginning. Way to go Vivian!
What a wonderful fantastic story. I can honestly say this is one of Vivian’s best books. It is not what I expected, but so glad I read it. You have a little of everything from love, sex, fights, storms and more. You will not be disappointed. It is a must read. Enjoy.
I think this is Vivian Ward’s best work to date. It grabs your attention from the first page and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end. The characters are perfectly flawed and complex. Their story unique and full of turns and twists that will have tou shaking and crying your eyes out. My most sincere congratulations to the author for this amazing book.

Victoria and Henry are separated. Victoria does everything in her power to protect Lizzy and herself. When Victoria and Henry are reunited, much has changed. Good book, well written!

loved this story of the reimagined beginning colonization of Australia was like by the author. Victoria’s character grows a lot in this story and it was amazing to read such a strong woman in this story. while parts were heartbreaking and scary for her she never let it keep her down or crush her. Victoria is such a strong and vibrant character and just what i imagine it would take to help form and shape a new country. Victoria is a character that will stay with me for a long time to come.
This book was a complete shock in the way the story is built and plays out. Totally didn’t expect all the plot twists, and OMG it’s an intense book. I honestly didn’t read anything about the book, because Vivan Ward is one of my 1-click authors, so getting the chance to read this book early was a dream. I was completely shocked, and a bit lost when the story first started, but once I got my bearings I was in total shock. I did read this book in one sitting, and I was blown away!
Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
What an odd but intriguing story. Convict Blood is unlike anything I have read before. Convicts stuck on boats going to a prison island. Where Marines are in charge and the prisoners outnumber them horrifically. How are the women supposed to survive with the men convicts running wild and the marines not being any better?
Victoria is the main character who is put on one of these boats with her one-year-old child. Through this book, she does things she never ever thought she would do just to keep herself and her child alive. With the help of a Marine named Matthew Kent who falls for her.
I did enjoy this different type of story, and it does end with a happy ending, just not the ending I wanted or thought we would have. It is the ending Victoria needed though.
This is definitely one of Vivian’s best writing to day. She never ceases to amaze me with her talent and vision. This is dark and forbidden and oh so good. This may not be everyone’s taste but I couldn’t get enough. I enjoyed to flaws of the characters (no spoilers here) and the time setting. Vivian is definitely one of go to authors who I would recommend to anyone.
Hmm.
The author had my noggin in motion today!
I have read my fair share of dark, suspenseful romances- you know the ones laced with evil you cannot stop reading?
While I felt tinges of all of that throughout what I think is an excellent baseline for this story. The connections between Victoria, Henry, and Mathew were sporadic plus a few critical situations felt a bit rushed. I would have loved more details! More Evil. So, was it all I hoped? I still am on the fence. What I had assumed it would be, and what I read- well, you know what happens when a person assumes soo… Of course, these are my humble average reader opinions.
Those things might not have been my cup of tea. Still, the fight scenes, raw sexual tension, love shown in many forms, unexpected turns, and inspiring characteristics certainly encouraged me to keep swiping the pages, needing to see what happens next!
A long time fan of Ms. Wards’ work, I may not have 100% meshed with this particular read, I would still recommend other readers check it out for themselves!
3.7 Stars!
This was dark, intense and suspenseful story from first page, there a twist along they way, cant say any with out spoiling and i dont do spoilers. ONE-CLICK NOW. Brilliant story Vivian
Not what I expected from a Vivian Ward book as most of hers are not dark. But this so different, not just from other books, but from others as well, that it had me hooked and on edge the whole time. A forbidden love with twists and turns you don’t see coming make this an amazing story!

A long road to changes. An emotional and gutwrenching story of hardships, loss, love, and survival. I give Henry a lot of credit for accepting Victoria and her burdens after they reunited. Life changed for them , and it frequently wasn’t for the better! Not all men are that strong. Both people had to do unsavory things to survive and had to have a lot of strength of character to press on.
A very interesting tale.
This is a very dark and twisted tale and the author did a great job of showing the horrors of being transported to a penal colony. This was also a very interesting take on the lives of the characters. I did have a love/hate relationship but I love it when characters are flawed it is more true to life. I so wanted to give this one a 5 star but I have a bit of a problem. When looking at the cover and reading the description I had the feeling of a more modern sci-fi vibe what I got was a historical read. Now that is not so bad I love historical but the word choice again reads more modern. I keep waiting to see some kind of information showing this was a future society that was copying the early 1800’s. So for this reader, the book was a bit confusing for me. That said this is a damn good story and I highly recommend it. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This was a sad time in the life of Victoria Easton convinced of theft and sentenced to travel by ship to Botany Bay with her husband Henry and an infant was a harsh penality for stealing food for her family. Keep below deck in an overcrowded ship unable to locate Henry Victoria quickly relises that to survive she needs to be strong.
Not able to find Henry and being advised by one of the marines guarding over the convicts that there doesn’t seem to show a Henry on the ships manifest. Victoria truly believes that he is dead. Now a widower with a small infant how will she protect her and her daughter from harm.
Matthew Kent has taken a fancy to Victoria and has trapped and held her safety as leverage. As time passes everything changes and her life becomes an neverending struggle. Read along to see how it all develops.
I love a good dark romance! Convict Blood was a different story from what I was expecting, and there are some good twists to it that had me wondering. Who was truly good and who had a hidden agenda? Victoria finds herself on the wrong side of the law, but once she gets to the island where she will be held prisoner, things just start to go wrong. It’s dark and intriguing, but does she get an HEA? I liked that it kept me guessing!
There are a lot of twists and turns in this dark story. The story and the characters are very well written and it’s a book that you shall be drawn to read in one sitting.

I have read a great deal from this author and I am a fan but I was a bit surprised by this book. It wasn’t what I expected having read the blurb and not what I would expect from this author. This really isn’t based on the present. This poor girl,Victoria was forced to fight for her survival and trying to feed her young daughter Lizzy. Her and her husband are convicted of streaking. Separated from her husband Henry as they board their prison ship heading for Botany Bay, Victoria was quite desperate. The story is dark and painful to read. Her survival in this prison was bleak to say the least. I certainly wouldn’t call this book a romance even though she did develop feelings for one of the marines in charge of the prisoners, there was very little romance in this storyline. Yog bleak, not a relaxing read for me.

The great plot was well written and the characters were so well developed that as I turned each page the chemistry between the characters kept me totally hooked until the very last page!

Our heroine is convicted of stealing and sent to a prison island with her infant daughter. She is going to have to make some very tough choices if she hopes to survive.
This is an interesting story with some unusual elements to it which I will not discuss. What I will mention is that the story is very well written, with well developed characters and a detailed setting. The story is something of an emotional roller coaster with definite highs and lows and some surprising twists along the way. All of these elements pull together nicely to make the book very hard to put down. Overall, the result is an enjoyable read that will keep you thinking about it even after you are finished.
Recommended.

Sweet, romantic on the dark side. A lot of twists and turns keeps you on the edge from first page.
Very interesting storyline. This story is fairly unique and once I started reading I had a hard time putting it down.
The story ended with the big surprise twist but ultimately ended up the way it was supposed to.
All in all this was an excellent read, definitely recommended
