Convict is a full length standalone within the Sin City Series and has a complete ending.more
Convict is a great story that will grip you in from the very first chapter, this is not your disney love story it’s so much better! Convict is a bit of a mix between a dark romance and romantic suspense, be expected to be taken on many twist and turns while failing deeper each chapter in love with Birdie and Ace.
Ace and Birdie are both equally broken through childhoods that no child should ever have to suffer through. Birdie is Gypsy’s sister from Confess, you’ll immediately fall in love with Birdies fun loving spirit, she’s full of sass and a I can do it attitude that you can’t help but love. Ace after spending far too much of his life being blamed for something that wasn’t his fault has walls built just as thick as they are high, he truly believes he doesn’t deserve anything good and is determined to punish himself for the rest of his days.
The chemistry between these two is there from the very start and while they’re both determined not to act on it, maybe fate has another plan in mind. There are so many surprises, demons, twist and turns involved, so many things happening behind the scenes that they’re having to battle. Convict may seem like a story you’ve read before but A. Zavarelli puts her own spin on Ace and Birdie that makes this a must read if you like dark romantic suspense, it’s gritty, action packed, steamy and something you’re sure not to forget!

I didn’t read the first book, Confess, which, I think would have helped with understanding the relationship that our heroine, Birdie, had with her sister, Gypsy, and her husband, Lucien, since Lucien also has a historical relationship with our Hero, Ace. I had a little trouble understanding the dynamic of these relationships as details from the first story of Gypsy and Lucien were glossed over. In the end, the details emerged, but I it took me a while to get to know Birdie and Ace and the dynamic surrounding their relationship. During the first third of the book, I would have rated this a 2 (like I said, it was challenging trying to get into the characters). The middle was a 3, and the ending was strong enough to pull the book to an overall 3.5 – 4. I think the lack of specific details in some parts was supposed to add intrigue to the story, but instead I was often impatiently frustrated. I’m going to go back and read the first book to try to try and better understand the relationship between Gypsy and Birdie, which was touched on and ultimately explained.
I love reading books by this author! She does not disappoint! Birdie and Huck are are fantastically complex and so damaged. They seem to be so unhealthy for each other, yet what they have is very healing to their psyche, their hearts and their trust.
The storyline here is very good. I’m not going to outline it but believe that it is worth getting lost in Las Vegas with Birdie and Huck, Trouble, and Gypsy and Lucian. While you are lost in their world, they find each other and find the hope and love neither believed they deserved.
This was my first book by Ms. Zavarelli and I assure you it will not be my last! I wasn’t sure what to expect as I said first read by this author, and since it was a second book in a series I was a little worried I would be lost. Thankfully I wasn’t at all as the author did a fabulous job making this book stand out all on its own, while giving us enough insight to the characters from the previous books. That isn’t always easy to do but she mastered that, and I was never lost! I knew that this one would have a suspense side to it but I didn’t realize how far that would go. I was pleasantly surprised by the secrets its pages held and the way that the author unfolded them slowly, teasing just enough along the way to try to figure out the plot, but never enough to get all the way to the answers. Typically I figure out a book very early on and have the plot twist before it ever happens in the book. I applaud the author because I was stumped the entire time.
I loved the heroine Birdie! She was a spark of sass right from the beginning through to the end. She was a spitfire when Ace first takes her to his home, but she quickly realized that even though she felt betrayed by her own flesh and blood, that in the end the protection Ace could provide to her was far better then the other possibilities. But good things don’t happen to bad girls according to Birdie, and her resolve was eventually beaten down so far, she had no choice left but to protect the ones that she loved!
Ace is a fabulous hero, broken and betrayed as a child, he found his home and his solace in his MC club. He’s loyal and a proud man. He’s had his mistakes flaunted in the past, but the one thing that he got right was Birdie, and he was going to stop at nothing to protect her. Even if it meant the ultimate sin. He’s a man you shouldn’t want to love, but do anyway. He’s a big teddy bear, wrapped up in a scary package of a man. But when push comes to shove he’s the type of man you want on your side!
There were a few things that were very typical of a romance novel, even a suspenseful one. But the book was never cliche in anyway, and it kept me reading feverishly through the pages to find out what was going to happen next!
I really enjoyed this book and honestly I plan to go back and read the first book in the series! Ms. Zavarelli paints a great world in this book series and I cannot wait to dig into more!
When you pick up a book by this author you know you are in for a beautiful ride. I will say from the start I figured I would get an excellent read, but this book exceeds the good read it was just wow! I’m a total sucker for a stalker type story and this one starts out with that stalker feel. I fell for Ace and his hard exterior, he is so broken and really just exists day to day until her. Birdie is the one thing that lights s fire back into Ace’s heart. To protect Birdie Ace takes her and holds her captive to keep her safe. Gah this story is so darn fantastic. The feels, the chemistry the intensity!! This book had me so captivated. I didn’t want the story of Birdie and Ace to end. There is just something about a broken man and the love that can mend him. This story has it all, love, sexual tension, action… must read.
You know you have a good author when the story makes you so emotional! I could not put this book down, had to keep reading to find out what happens to them. I don’t think I can add anything that someone has already said but just know that if you read this, you will not get your chores done or have dinner on the table for your family lol!! Highly recommend.
Convict is the second book in this series of a new to me author. Although I haven’t had the chance to read the first book, this can pretty much be read as a stand alone. It is contemporary romance, with a dash of MC, age gap, enemies to lovers-ish elements.
The story features Birdie and Ace, both from what I gather was mentioned as the sister and the friend of previous book main characters. Ace strikes me as a silent, brooding type who will be brutally honest if he ever deigns to talk to you. With his dark, tainted past, you could just imagine what it will wrought from a person and turn them into. It certainly skewed his view of being worthy or able to get into a relationship. And the very reason he had doubts of ever pursuing Birdie. Birdie is a tough young woman who was dealt a hard life. Though young, she was forced to grow up fast and mature beyond her age with the dire situation she was in. She had to use her womanly wiles and beauty to con her way and earn money for herself and her sister, and later to pay off someone when she got into Ace’s radar.
I would describe their chemistry as live, intense tension. There was so much attraction between them no matter how hard they try to fight it, more so on Ace’s side. They were like fire and gasoline, ready to explode. And boy, what an explosion it was, whew! They were both wary of love; Ace with his notion of being incapable of it and Birdie who had a very low opinion of men. Surprising both of them, they’ve found the kind of love they craved for.
This was a gripping, remarkable read and highly recommend it. Can’t wait to read another work from this author. Absolutely loved this!
This is the second book in the addictive Sin City Salvation Series. I love Convict as much as I loved Confess. Birdie and Ace’s story is raw, emotional, intriguing and captivating. They are two broken souls and I love how they find each other and how they heal together. Their chemistry is strong and undeniably beautiful. I love the ending. I also loved to see Lucian and Gypsy again. This author never disappoints. I received a free copy of this book and I have voluntarily left this review.
I don’t think I’ve ever read a book by her that I didn’t love. It is full of twists and unexpected turns.

A. Zavarelli
This book! Holy Freakin blazes, Y’all! This book! I was blown away. Ace Fallon was called in to provide protection for Birdie Blue. She’s been runnin’ cons in Vegas for years and she was about to be in some big trouble. So in order to protect her, her older sister Gypsy orchestrated for Ace to take her out of her life and basically “kidnapp” her to keep his eyes on her around the clock.Ace finds himself struggling with the needs to put more than just his eyes on the gorgeous, blonde. It totally flipped the script on his game plan and made his job a whole ton harder.
Who knew that this bad boy biker with a tortured past was going to be delicious temptation wrapped up in a huge, tall and tattooed package? Temptation that Birdie would find herself dying for a taste of.
This book will have you on the edge of your seat with its suspense and action packed storyline, full of danger, criminals and pure nasty stuff. It will have you crying. It will also have you all hot and bothered with some raw and gritty, panty-flinging, ready to throw down in pound town kinda fireworks between the main characters! So. Freakin.Hot! There is so many up and downs in this book. It is straight up like a roller coaster of Am-Ma-zing!!
If dark romance with tons of steam and suspense, and lots of heart is your jam. This is SO the book you need to read today!
*I voluntarily reviewed an advanced complimentary copy of this book.
My blog- cr8zysockbookblock overall ratings for this book!
-This book was FANTASTIC!! It was heart wrenching, full of frustration, suspense, things that I wanted justice for. I loved these main characters so much. The Ending was Perfection!
– So.Freakin.Hot!! Steamy Sex for days! Alpha sex, yes please. There was a little sweet , but Ace is pretty Alpha AF!! So it was fiery in the sack. No Panties Needed! Panty Flinger alert!
Cliffhanger Warning- There is NO cliffy. You get a perfect HEA!!
: Upon reading of this book, you may experience swooning, hot flashes, the need to date a bearded biker, and a very big book hangover!
I was delirious with excitement when this story landed on my kindle. I have wanted more of this Sin City series since I read the last page of Confess. You just knew that Birdie and Ace would have one hell of a story to tell, I just was not prepared for the torment that either character experienced. Deplorable, and yet monumental to the formation of their characters. Convict is a dynamically suspenseful read with a plot as twisted as a pretzel, and an emotional foundation that will make your heart ache with the weight of it’s words.
What can I say about my man, Ace. He’s ruff and gruff and unpolished. But he has this teddy bear persona going for him. He’s totally infatuated with Birdie, but feels that he is not good enough for the likes of her. He believes himself to be tainted, and too defective for any type of a relationship.
Birdie, she is some sassy little spitfire! She’s impetuous, juvenile at times, and will do or say anything to get a reaction from people. Her self worth is about as stable as a house of cards. But somewhere deep down, she has a heart of gold.
Neither believe that they are good for the other, and struggle to navigate their feelings for each other. Both tortured, both wanting, but too afraid of taking that first step towards the other. When it finally does happen, it’s nothing short of explosive! I have to say the tension leading up to the sex was pure torture, and not just for the characters, but for me as well!
I love reading A. Zavarelli’s words. There is just something about her writing that speaks volumes to me. Her crisp and flawless lines, the strong character development mixed with clandestine intrigue, and always a plot that is immaculately executed. She is one of the indie authors I have encountered, and is a read author that should be on everyone’s list.
Be sure to one click this, as well as Confess, book 1, in the Sin City Salvation series.
5* stars!!
A story of a sexy, scarred, and broken biker and a beautiful, broken, con artist woman who will be thrown together to keep her safe and out of his loyalty for the first person to believe in him.
Birdie Blue is a woman who is scarred from her childhood and can’t seem to get away from the men who destroyed her childhood. She puts herself in danger to keep her older sister safe and to keep herself out of jail.
Huck Fallon “Ace” is a man who was abused from the day he was born. He hasn’t had an easy life and there’s not many men that he trusts. Lucien is the first person to believe in him and give him a chance in life. The other men are the men of his MC.
I really liked this book and the connection between Birdie and Ace is instant, but they try to ignore the attraction because both of them feel that they are not good enough or deserve a good life. The tragedy they each endured as children has scarred them and they believe they are broken and irredeemable. It’s a suspenseful, heartbreaking, tragic, and beautiful story. I give this story a 4.5-star review and suggest it to readers who like MC, corruption, criminal, and tragic stories. There are a few twists and enough suspense to keep you turning the pages and not wanting to put the book down.
Birdie and Ace
Convict is the story I’ve been waiting for since reading the first book in this series I’ve put it off as long as I could and read it as slowly as I could as I know it might be a while before or if we get more in this series
Birdie is Gypsy’s wild sister and no matter what, it appears she’s as reckless as before Gypsy settled down. Gypsy enlists Ace’s help but the attraction between them both is making matters more complicated when he does finally try to tame Birdie.
This story was an emotional one due to both characters backgrounds and also shines a light into areas that most don’t realise actually do occur and often how it’s not always strangers but sometimes those you are familiar with…..that doesn’t make much sense but once you’ve read the book it will make a bit more
I really enjoyed this story and it’s another 5 star recommended read from me
There are a few authors that really handle dark romance perfectly. It needs to be executed just right so that the story stays true to the characters and the subject matter. A. Zavarelli is one of those authors, and this book is a prime example.
I love me some dark romance, the darker the better sometimes. Convict is one I consider to be “lighter dark”, it’s one that someone who doesn’t normally read dark can dip their toes into with this book. There is some grittiness to the story, and everything was just better than I anticipated.
We met Ace & Birdie in the first book Confess. They caught my eye then, but then they blew me away in this book. I ended up loving Birdie way more than I thought I would. She’s just amazing at her survival of everything thrown her way. Ace floored me, he just left me speechless. His past is rough but his heart is everything. I loved these two together, they hooked me hard.
When I first started reading Convict I was reading and like I swear I know these character already. Birdie and her sister Gypsy and all that. I was so confused as I was like wait…this is a new story so how do I know them already?? Then I felt a bit stupid when I looked it up and it was book two and so of course it seemed familiar as I did meet them in the first book in the series! Book one was Gypsy and Lucian’s story and this is the story of her sister Birdie and Ace.
Oh, Birdie and Ace. Two people who think they don’t/can’t/won’t be able to have a relationship because of their past and their ginormous baggage. But there was just something there between them from the very first. Birdie is not used to wanting guys. She sees them as marks and something that she can use to help her try and survive when her past comes calling. People she can use to try and get her freedom. And Ace doesn’t think he is capable of loving someone. Of having that relationship because of what happened to him in his youth. Because of his demons and issues he has because of all that. But Birdie calls to him and him to her. She likes him, she wants him, but she doesn’t know why. And he wants her though he knows she can’t have her.
These two were really sweet together. They don’t have a smooth ride, there are a lot of bumps along the way, but they were wonderful to read. With all of their issues and insecurities it can take a little while to work everything out, to figure out how they feel and what is happening between them, but they were fun to read. Ace would do anything to keep Birdie safe and when her past really catches up with her there is nothing he wouldn’t do to save her. And her him which was so sweet to see. If you read book one then you know the world already, you know some of the stuff that has happened. If not then jump right on in and fall in love with Birdie and Ace.
*Note: I received a free copy of this book for voluntary review consideration
I know when I open a book by Ashleigh Zavarelli that I’m going to get a dark and suspenseful story that satisfies my soul.
This story is about Birdie and Huck aka Ace. Two survivors of a past that torments them in the present. Birdie is on the run, never able to stop for fear that the demons from her childhood will catch her, and Ace is learning how to live for the first time since being a prisoner not only in body but of his mind.
I found myself fully invested in these characters and held my breath as they fought through their emotions and learned to trust.
After a year spent watching Birdie, she’s under his skin and evading his thoughts so when Ace is propositioned by Gypsy to protect her sister at any cost, he already knows his answer will be yes. What he wasn’t prepared for was the hurricane of emotions that would come with meeting his match.
When their worlds collide it’s a storm of passion brewing under the surface and a battle of wits as a disguise. These two are determined to get the upper hand on each other but as they both soon come to realize, they’re better off working together then fighting each other at every turn.
With an obsession dangling over her head, Birdie is prepared for battle but what she doesn’t find out is that she’ll never have to do it alone again. She’s in his blood now and Ace is ready to protect her at any cost. Even if that means dragging all the Skelton’s in her closet to kneel at his feet.
I don’t want to give any of the story away because there are definitely some twists and turns that you’ll want to experience for yourself but the journey these two go on will have you rooting for them til the very end.
“Someday, everything will be perfect.”
I absolutely love how Ashleigh took the story full circle and used it as a mechanism to connect Ace and Birdie on a level where only they can relate. It was the driving force that brought them together and would be what would seal their fate.
I can’t wait for more books in this series. I’m hoping Kodiak will be next!!
This story is an MC romance but honestly it’s not what the story is even remotely about. The MC aspect is there but it’s only the setting to what really takes place. These characters own this story and their damaged hearts are the focal point.
Definitely recommend!!

Ace was sent to watch Birdie, but she becomes an obsession for him. Birdie is in trouble trying to get back the evidence of her crime. Ace ends up taking Birdie to his place to protect her from enemies. These two have scars and pain in their pasts but show how through it all you can come out on the other side. The chemistry between them is explosive and HOT. I make sure to one-click every time this author has a book coming out.
I received a copy of this book via CandiKanePr and am leaving a review.
I had to rewrite this review several times and I’m still not satisfied that I’ve adequately conveyed how much I loved this book.
I was emotionally drained by the end but it was all worth it to see the journey these two took.
Tortured souls, broken and jagged, can their broken pieces fit together and heal them both.
Birdie could be childish at times and her past left her doubting her self worth. But one thing she never strayed from was protecting those she cared for.
Ace despite having a horrendous childhood was a gentle soul, and his emerging feelings for Birdie began to chip away at his self loathing.
We meet both of these characters in the previous book Confess. It’s not necessary to read that one to read this, but I’d suggest doing so, as you’d get the backstory of both Birdie and Ace. Now onto other things.
Holy wow, this one. I’ve been wanting Birdie and Ace’s story since Confess, and I am so glad it’s finally here. I absolutely LOVED it!! If you want a book with angst, you have it here. No questions asked, it’s guaranteed.
“He was a God of war, and I was a mere mortal unequipped with the powers to resist such human temptations.”
~Birdie~
My Gods, Ace. A tortured soul if I’ve ever read one. He’s been through so much in his life and it’s left him with so much weighing him down. He doesn’t think he’s good enough, or that he should be with Birdie, but no one could be better. My opinion at least.
“She’s mine. She was always meant to be mine. And I can’t live in a world where that isn’t my reality.”
~Ace~
Birdie will test the patience of a saint. I feel for Ace on that regard. I mean, I feel for him in general, but that’s a whole new level right there. How Gypsy managed her, I have no clue. In the beginning you kind of don’t like her, as she’s kind of bratty, but after a while you see under the surface of who she really is. She has an inner strength most don’t. She’s been through some gnarly stuff, and only someone with her kind of strength could have survived it.
“Huck didn’t even penetrate my body, but he penetrated my mind. Nothing about this afternoon was mechanical or routine. I was a slave to the chemical high he provided, and I wanted more.”
~Birdie~
I don’t think there could be a better match for them than the other. Being they have a similar background, no one could quite understand them better. The guilt, mistrust, and hurt they feel, the other knows how to comfort and put to rest. They might not think they’re good enough for the other, but in fact they’re the others’ salvation.
“Good or bad, right or wrong, she was the other half of my soul that I’d always known was missing.”
~Ace~
I absolutely love the way this author does angst. These two characters caught me in Confess, and I’m so happy they got their own book. Ace and his Birdie Blue, lit up the pages, and kept them turning. This book was written amazingly well, and it was the perfect companion novel to Confess. Birdie and Ace were stunning, and I loved every word of this book. It is a most definitely recommend.
Convict absolutely slayed. A. Zavarelli is one of the most unique dark authors who delivers every time with such an originality that I absolutely get hooked and end up with a book hangover. Zavarelli’s remains authentic to Birdie and Ace and makes them heat achingly beautiful characters. The emotional plot was simply flawless. FIVE MILLION STARS!
