George Gibson is determined to check off the last item on his bucket list: a trip across America. He hops in his RV to visit – and sketch – the buildings and places across America that he and his wife never got to see. When his daughter learns of a young boy forced to give up a beloved Saint Bernard named Lewis, she suggests George adopt the animal as a traveling companion. The dog even fits … perfectly in the sidecar of George’s Vespa motor scooter. As George warms to his travel mate, he begins talking to Lewis, sharing stories from his life and his unrealized dreams. Along the way, Lewis seems to attract people and make instant friends with the quirky and charming, funny and odd people who cross their path. Could it be that his new friends – and this strange dog – will help George to finally confront the secret he’s been hiding? Can Lewis’s devotion to the truth be enough to save George from himself?

Well written and thought provoking. Seems realistic because I’ve always thought our dogs are part of our family and understand so much more than we give them credit for.
Love his books about animals. a favorite author
Wonderful book. I enjoyed it very much…so refreshing with all the murder, mayhem and smut! Well written.
I’m not a dog lover but I really enjoyed this book.
The premise of the book had potential and the main character was believable and carried the story well but the dog… The dog simply had too many human traits attributed to it for my taste. I got bogged down and skipped sections as some of the other characters didn’t seem real either.
Sweet and funny!
I totally loved this book and Lewis the dog. I wish we had a favorites shelf for ebooks because this is one I’m gonna read over.
This was a wonderful story about a boy who fell in love with this dog, but he finds out he has allergies to the dog. The man is not a man with great love for this dog but agrees to take the dog on this cross country trip. Where he goes and what he does and how he and the dog become true friends is a fabulous read!!! The boy keeps in touch with the dog by Computer, a very neat way to accomplish keeping their connection alive over several months!!! Loved this book!!!
All in all, a very pleasant read. It actually stayed with me for a number of days as I thought back on the various episodes.
