“Of course, no matter where in the world she was, she could never have stayed hidden, not as long as he was willing to kill innocent people until he found her. The question was, had he stopped killing people, or was she next on his list?”–Robin Patchen, award winning author of Finding Amanda and Twisted Lies. About CONVENIENT LIES:She married her enemy… married her enemy…
When investigative journalist Reagan McAdams discovers her new husband is part of an international crime family, she flees Paris with their newborn and returns to her childhood home in New Hampshire, where she’ll gather her inheritance before she disappears forever. She’ll do whatever it takes to protect her son from his criminal father.
He never quit loving her.
Brady Thomas discovers Rae is back and in trouble, and he’s going to protect her and her son, whether she wants his help or not.
The death toll rises.
But when Rae’s husband starts killing people to smoke her out, she has to decide what—and who—she’ll have to sacrifice to save her son.

Could not put it down so read straight through. Realistic characters and situations that kept me guessing all the way. Suspense and a HEA are my thing and with nothing to offend readers, well worth the time. 1
I enjoyed this book. It was easy to read because the chapters were short. It was action packed. I could not put it down. I had to know what was going to happen next. It kept me on the edge of my seat. It was suspenseful.
I enjoyed Convenient Lies by Robin Patchen, which is the second book of hers I’ve read. The female protagonist has led a less-than-perfect life. This makes her a relatable character. Some of the issues she has brought upon herself by her actions, while others are due to her misinterpreting the situation. The ‘bad guy’ ends up as an antihero, but the other really ‘bad guy’ receives his due. If you enjoy a suspense novel with a touch of romance that’s also a clean read, I recommend Convenient Lies.
Good page turner.
Great book. Romance. Mystery. Interesting characters. Wholesome and clean. No inappropriate words or actions. Love it!
Intriguing clean romantic mystery, chock full of red herrings! Both Rachael and her husband, Julian, have secrets they’ve kept from one another – and not minor details. The many characters, especially Sam and Nate, and the plot were interesting. Enjoyed the read. 3 1/2 stars.
An exceptional story filled with secrets, nail-biting suspense, tension and heart wrenching emotion. Convenient Lies will keep you hooked from start to finish that end with an unexpected twist.
This is an emotional rollercoaster that kept me so engrossed & on the edge of my seat waiting for the ball to drop-meaning the bad husband to find his wife & child. It’s one book you can’t put down till the end. I was very satisfied with the ending for the husband too. There is an HEA for Rae.
Awesome book
How could she have known what kind of family she’d married in to? And now she’s on the run from the very man she thought she loved. When she returns to her home town, she discovers true love–and true terror. Robin Patchen knows how to keep a reader engrossed. Highly recommended.
I love authors who start the story getting your attention. I knew I was going to like this book from the very first chapter. Fast paced story with characters you will like and care about. Can’t wait to read more books by this author!
Loved this book and couldn’t put it down – hooked from the very beginning. A complicated plot with well developed characters and in circumstances I could not imagine how they could be resolved …. but ended better than hoped for. Highly recommend but don’t start it unless you have time to keeping reading as you won’t want to stop reading!
Had a hard time putting it down, I’m not usually, a suspense reader, but this was a moving action packed book of poor choices and redemption after many wrong turns
I loved this book and am finding I just cant get enough of this author!! On to book 2 in the series now 😉
Just finished reading this book and really enjoyed it. A quick read with a lot of twists and turns. Love the ending.
Really enjoyed the book…enough to read it again soon.
Wow, what a surprise our heroine Regan turned out to be. She had me shaking my head with some of her earlier, youthful decisions. And the lies that came out of that. She even says herself years later, that she may have over-reacted when she left her hometown. I can answer that thought with a strong, “Yes.” But then I also got some insights about some of the other pressures on her. So it was a bit easier to understand a little bit more of her reasoning. Still, she was still running even then.
Brady was a strong, honorable and angry man. Angry at Reagan for just dumping and running and staying lost all those years ago. He’s a detective and he has a lot of questions for her. And he doesn’t let up much at all when it came to trying to get those answers from her. But that doesn’t make him a bad guy. He’s good at what he does but also shows some tender moments with Rae and her son.
Now Rae’s husband? Now there is a guy who is something else. We get to see quite a bit of what his real life is like. It helps a lot that we get both his and Rae’s P.O.V.’s. He has a really dangerous life. He ended up being a complex person. But I also liked how all the main characters had depth.
There is plenty of action in this story with some twists and turns thrown in too. And plenty of emotions and regrets are included.
It just kept me thinking, “How in the world is this going to end up well for Rae, her son and hopefully Brady?”
My jaw just about dropped when the book came to a totally unexpected ending. It was a well written ending and also had a good Epilogue.
You gotta read this book!
I enjoyed this well-written book enough that I was willing to overlook my skepticism at some of the unbelievable choices the characters made. Although there were several times in the book that I thought they should have known better or chosen differently, I still enjoyed the story line very much, and the author did a spectacular job of working out the story’s resolution in a well-though-out and plausible manner. I also enjoyed the several twists in the story line when it didn’t go the direction I expected.
Wonderful story line, fascinating characters, mystery and suspense making for an absolutely wonderful day of reading! Imagine running away with a 12 day old baby only to be totally surprised when you arrive at your destination. The author has done a fabulous job of making you try to figure out how this story can ever end in something good, because as you read, it all seems very unlikely. These opinions and impressions are my own, but I really think you don’t want to miss this first book in the Hidden Truths series.
