“Of course, no matter where in the world she was, she could never have stayed hidden, not as long as he was willing to kill innocent people until he found her. The question was, had he stopped killing people, or was she next on his list?”–Robin Patchen, award winning author of Finding Amanda and Twisted Lies. About CONVENIENT LIES:She married her enemy… married her enemy…
When investigative journalist Reagan McAdams discovers her new husband is part of an international crime family, she flees Paris with their newborn and returns to her childhood home in New Hampshire, where she’ll gather her inheritance before she disappears forever. She’ll do whatever it takes to protect her son from his criminal father.
He never quit loving her.
Brady Thomas discovers Rae is back and in trouble, and he’s going to protect her and her son, whether she wants his help or not.
The death toll rises.
But when Rae’s husband starts killing people to smoke her out, she has to decide what—and who—she’ll have to sacrifice to save her son.

good book
I really liked this book. It’s the kind of book that I felt like I knew the people in the book, I cared what happened to them and I felt the feelings they were feeling. This book is definitely worth the read.
Awesome read!
Suspense at its best. Humanity at its worst. Drama, terror, love, hate, fear, loyalty, and everything in between. Patchen brings human responses to tragic events, taking them to the extreme edges of what you or I may deem as normal. But we willingly follow because we know nothing is ever what it seems.
This was an excellent book! It is a suspense and romance in one. The story draws you in. I couldn’t put it down!
There were parts you just didn’t expect. I love a good mystery hidden in an action packed book.
Book was a good read. Story kept moving to the final conclusion.
This is a rather different book for me. I was intrigue with it and the story line. Then I found the book rather slow but I kept reading. Then suddenly it got good and I couldn’t wait till the end. The end did take me by surprise. The characters are good and it’s amazing what a woman would do for her son. Really liked the characters and the story just had to get passed that one section. I will also read others in this series.
Best book ever! Don’t miss out on Robin’s best, well written, can’t put down until you finish book.
Out of all the free Kindle books I’ve rec’d, THIS has to be in the top 5. I was captivated by the storyline, the characters were engaging, the writing was clean, & it kept me riveted until the end. Plus it was set in NH, which is my home state – nice surprise! GREAT BOOK!
It was very good. Hard to put down.
.
2.5 rating because book labeled Christian when it is NOT. Yes, the book had clean language, No, the book did not have cursing, No, the book did not have steamy graphic sex scenes. HOWEVER, nor did the book have any kind of Christian faith-filled thoughts/scenes. One selection, had a character praying this prayer: “I’m not a praying man, but if you’re there, God, please help. Another scene had lead character saying, “she’s probably praying for me” since she prays a lot. For those of you who are used to great Christian authors, R. Patchen is NOT in this book! if you are used to Christian authors such as Lynn Austin, Francine Rivers, Jan Karon, you will be disappointed in this book. I AM GETTING TIRED OF BOOKS WHO ARE LABELED “CHRISTIAN” WHEN THEY ARE NOT.
You won’t be able to put this book down!
This story has so many liars and lies being told all over the place it is absolutely crazy but dang it it works. How bizarre is that. This author has each character so wrapped in the lies of their own making be it for protection against their past or hiding from their present. As the story and all the pieces start to click together the truth comes out and lies are what is needed to make it work. It’s not just about the individuals this is about every little thing and how the chips must fall. It’s about betrayal from those you love and trust and regret that you don’t have the power or control or the ability to choose.
It’s an exciting action packed read. I love strong female characters that don’t whine and cry their way thru emotional or scary times but that will step up to the plate with their big girl panties on and make it happen. I really need to read more because this series is starting off with a bang.
Reagan is married with the wrong man, and now she has to run to save her and her son. When she comes back to her hometown to join her grandmother, she mets Brady, her best friend forever and one of the reason she left Nutfield all those years ago and never came back. But now she has to face a very difficult situation with her friends’s help. You can’t put down the book, a rollercoaster of emotions and a lot of action.
