From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author K. Bromberg comes a new story in her Everyday Heroes series…
Control is something Desi Whitman abhors. Why live life in black and white perfection when you can messily color outside the lines?
But when she comes face to face with SWAT officer Reznor Mayne, he’s about to show her just how good control can feel.

It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book in one sitting. I really couldn’t put this down. It caught my interest from the start and I absolutely devoured it in no time. Classic Bromberg that I could describe with 3 words:
“Unpredictable. Energetic. Explosive.”
I loved every minute of it. I only wish it was a full-length novel so I could swoon more over this hot SWAT agent Reznor Mayne. He was sexy, tattooed, alpha, a bit cocky, very determined to get what he wanted, persistent, unrelenting even and although he wasn’t a patient man, he sure acted very in control around Desi. He was pretending to be a bad boy but he sure was one of the good ones and he showed his sweet and caring side pretty quickly. Top-notch BBF material. And he definitely didn’t mind getting all dirty
Desi, on the other hand, was a tough one. I loved her in Cuffed, really enjoyed her easygoing personality and free spirit. I knew she would need a strong man to deal with her sassy attitude and boy, did she find her match.
Their first encounter was rather funny. I laughed a lot with their witty banter and I was grinning like an idiot the whole time.
They were both like a Molotov cocktail thrown into a burning fire – EXPLOSIVE. The sexual chemistry was off the charts hot. And the steamy scenes made my heart race. You would most certainly need a cold shower after reading some of them. Phew! Fanning myself still.
The physical attraction was a given, but they complemented each other on every level and managed to sooth each other’s insecurities. And even though the book was short it still conveys a powerful message that I’m sure will resonate with many. Definitely K. Bromberg at her finest.
The story is a complete stand-alone but those who have read Cuffed would be happy to see more of Grant and Emerson in here. It was an added bonus for me to get a glimpse at how their relationship has progressed. I absolutely loved every single story of Everyday Heroes series. The Malone brothers are not to be missed. But Reznor Mayne is something else. Just grab your copy and find out for yourself all his

Desi had a scary and very creepy experience a few weeks back. That’s why she’s now at the local highschool for their new Self-Defense Class.
Enter Reznor.
He’s a SWAT agent from San Francisco. But he needed some time off from work. He thinks he made a mistake that cost lives. It wasn’t his fault, but that doesn’t make it any better.
He’s Sunnyville’s new self defense instructor!
Desi and Rez do not really start with the best impression of each other. BUT of course they start with mega sparks and attraction too.
And also … he’s her new next-door neighbor.
Let the fun times begin!
Aww, that was adorable!
A cute and sexy and funny little romance full of dogs and sexy neighbors and some PTSD problems. I really liked reading it.
It took me a few pages to get into the story. It started a bit … weirdly written? No idea what I mean, but it got better and I finished reading it pretty fast!
CONTROL was a really adorable & funny & sexy novella! Too short, but I adored those two!
But just so you know … Rez is MINE – so go run to your nearest amazon to get your own!!!
This is K Bromberg at her best! The Swoon, the sizzle and a storyline that has you captivated from the very first page and wanting it to never end.
“Hello to you, Mister A-Little-Rugged-And-Whole-Lot-Sexy.”
Reznor Mayne has Desi Whitman all hot and bother and tied up in knots. Their story will have you a little tingly or a lot and most definitely squirming in your seat.
As a fill self defence instructor/S.W.A.T commander Reznor is hot as hell and so so swoon worthy. Questioning everything about his job he moves to Sunnyville for a temporary gig as a self defence instructor.
Desi is the hard as nails, good with the one liners, owner of her dog grooming business. She calls it likes she sees it and isn’t afraid to go after what she wants. That is until everything changes for her and she finds herself vulnerable and frighten.
When these two get together the sexual tension is so overwhelming, but the denials that each of them have may just push them apart.
A well written novella that packs a punch. K Bromberg puts all the flutter, the swoon, and the sag that she is renowned for in this book. It’s was engaging and entertaining with relatable characters that you can easily connect with. It was an absolute pleasure to read this book.
This story had me hooked right from the beginning and left me craving more from Desi & Reznor by the end. We met Desi in Cuffed as Emerson’s best friend. I love that she gets her story! I just adored this flawlessly written storyline. I fell in love with the characters: Reznor — the sexy, charismatic and fiercely protective alpha male. Harper — the beautiful, strong, and sassy heroine. The flirty, witty exchanges are very well-written and they spar so well with one another. They are quite the match! Their chemistry was undeniable and electric. Try as they may to fight their attraction, they are inevitably powerless to resist that magnetic pull to each other. They find solace in one another’s company; sharing a soul-deep connection that neither can explain. The intimate scenes were incredibly sexy and steamy. This story had me feeling all kinds of emotions – happy, sad, laugh out loud funny, and all those butterfly moments; it had all the feels. I loved getting to see more of Grant and Emerson too. I highly recommend reading this book!
Control for me was a bonus book in the Everyday Heroes series and Desi has always been a character I wanted to know more about. The chemistry and attraction between Reznor and Desi is electric and extremely intense. A story that reels you in and captivates you right up to the very end. Desi is a complicated woman that you will need to delve deep into to discover there is so much more to her. It will take a SWAT Commander who has demons of his own to make Desi realize that she can have more. A feisty, action packed, steamy romance.
Sometimes people come in to a person’s life path for a reason. Loved how Bromberg intertwines Reznor and Desi’s path. The SWAT master needing a break and becomes friends and neighbors with Desi, who has had a previous life rattling experience. They support one another and both admit to one another that they don’t just want to be a path crossing but they decide to join their road of life travel. Definitely recommend this one by K. Bromberg. Another good one by this lovely author.
Control is K. Bromberg’s newest novella in the Everyday Heroes series. I love this series and I was very excited to hear that Desi was getting her own story. She’s Emerson’s best friend and I loved her in the previous books. She’s fun, flirty, and crazy, in good way. But she’s being haunted by the past. Scared and looking over her shoulder and she hates it. She signs up to take a self-defense class and the teacher is a tall, dark and handsome SWAT commander in town for a few weeks. Desi can’t help the attraction to the sexy man, but she’s not looking for a one night stand or a long term relationship. Reznor is living with own ghosts and being in this town might be the answer he’s looking for. Especially after meeting the sexy, beautiful and mouthy Desi. Who is also his new neighbor. What are the odds? The attraction between Rez and Desi is off the charts and Reznor knows what he wants. Desi. But she’s going to fight him every step of the way. Will Reznor and Desi be able to let go of their pasts and enjoy their time together? I loved this story. It’s hot, short and steamy! Reznor and his sexiness, his deep chuckle and his knowing eyes. Desi and her strength, beauty and ability to keep her head high. I loved that Reznor was pursing her, honest with his feelings and she was the one running. He wasn’t going to let her get away, no matter what!
“I try to match him kiss for kiss—lick for lick—nip for nip—each touch feeding our urgency to take more from the other. To demand more from the other. We are chaos.”
OH.EM.GEE!! I. WANT. MORE. I am so in love with Control. IT. WAS. EVERYTHING. K. Bromberg has done it again. I could not get enough of this book. I flew through the pages like a women possessed. Every word was just never enough. Control quickly cemented a place in my heart. I could not recommend reading this book enough. This is easily one of my best reads of 2018! Everything about this story, and its character’s had me wanting more. One more page. One more kiss. One more emotion. It was raw, and consuming. I never wanted it to end. Desi and Renzor was perfect yet complicated. I loved that everything about them was messy and unconventional. Their chemistry absolutely blazed from the pages. While their vulnerability quickly stole your heart. I could have read about these characters for ages and it never have been enough. This is one emotional ride you don’t want to miss out on!
“I wasn’t coming to Sunnyville to complicate my life, but damn it to hell, I like her kind of complication.”
Desi is hands down one of my favorite heroines. She was the perfect mess, and I could not get enough of her. Everything about her was unique and screamed independent. Her character was a total spit fire, with a head strong attitude. She gave as good as she got. With attitude and sass for days. I loved that Desi was not affraid to be vulnerable. She had this uncanny ability to be weak yet strong. You could easily see why she’s perfect to give Renzor a run for his money.
“His lips coax me, brand me, warn me of the promise of what is to come when I already know without a doubt I’ll take whatever he is going to give me.”
Renzor had my heart won from the start. He’s one of those alphas you know is out for your heart. He had me hanging on his every word; and action. There was not enough pages to get get your fill of him. His character excluded confidence. While easily dominating your heart. Every word out of Renzors mouth either left you swooning or melting. I have met many alphas but none have left me feeling quit like Renzor did.
“His voice is right behind me—close, too close—and it’s not enough that I smell his shampoo and soap and his taste is still on my tongue. He’s owning my thoughts.”
*5 STARS*
Well earned for one of the best police romances I have read. 5 stars will never feel like enough for this story it deserves atleast 10. Desi and Renzor will haunt your mind long after the story ends.
This book starts off with action. Desi meets Rez at a self-defense class. Their initial meeting doesn’t go smoothly at all. In fact, it sets Desi on the defensive side. They both have reasons for being there that are different. They are both broken in different ways. Desi is a sexy, strong woman who had something happen to her. She uses humor as a shield but she isn’t fooling Rez. Rez is a sexy SWAT team commander who was in desperate need of a break from his job and a change of scenery. He is attracted to Desi and sees through her BS defense mechanisms. He has no problem calling her out on them. Neither of them are looking for a relationship but they are willing to come together to stoke the fire. Will that be enough?
This is a sexy, angsty, emotional, swoonworthy story. It is entertaining from start to finish. I thought the chemistry was off the charts between the hero and heroine. I loved the story line. K. Bromberg did an excellent job writing this entertaining short love story!!! I recommend reading this book.

4 Stars
I devoured this one in one sitting. Desi is super quirky and I loved her. After she had a scare, she decides to sign up for a self defense class. Enter the tattooed and sexy SWAT leader, Reznor Mayne. I loved Reznor even more. I loved his cockiness, but his vulnerable side made him even sexier. These two together make for a fantastic read. They are scorching hot together and really burn up the pages.
Angela – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
Doing the Happy Dance…I am sooo excited that Bromberg wrote Desi’s story. We fell in LOVE with her in Control. She was the hot and very sassy dispatcher in the Everyday Heroes series and now she is back with her own book in the 1001 Dark Nights 3.5.
Yesss ladies this book is sooo Out-of-Control in the Hawtness meter!!! Better go grab that fire extinguisher for your kindle cuz it’s about to combust!!! lol
Again this book is about Desi. She decides to take a Self Defense Class in her hometown. She strikes up a conversation with a guy she has never seen before in the waiting room and in pure Desi form, she was pretty sassy with him. She may have said a few things or two to him that she should have kept to herself. Annnddd poor Desi is about to find out who he really is when class starts!! lol
I gave Control 3.5 5 fan-dam-tastic Stars. Of course I would have loved more of the story because Bromberg is always a one click for me and I can not get enough of her stories!! Thanks for another amazing book K. Bromberg!!! xoxo
**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.**
Control maybe a quick read but it still packs a mighty punch don’t be fooled by the length of this book it still has enough going on to get you hooked. This is Desi and Reznor’s story and I was excited to get my hands on it, we first meet Desi in Cuffed and I was so pleased she got her own story. Desi is a girl that has a fear of relationships and commitment she has put a wall up to protect herself but what happens when she meets Reznor who seems hell bent on breaking her wall down. Reznor loves to feel the rush, it might be a business venture or in this case it’s a feisty girl named Desi and he is convinced Desi will be worth the trouble of chipping away at the wall that guards her heart so tightly.
This is a short read but it still has strong characters, intrigue, love and a HEA oh did I mention passion this novella has plenty of hot under the collar moments. We may have met Desi before but Control can certainly be read as a stand-alone, looking forward to what’s next from the very talented K.Bromberg. Great quick read.
What a great story! I have not read any of the other books in this series, but I’m going back to buy them all! The story of the girl who thinks she doesn’t want forever love, but deep down knows that is going to be the best thing to happen to her. The SWAT officer that needs some RNR, but finds the quirky girl with a deep secret living next door to him. Their journey is wonderful.
Reznor Mayne is a Team Leader of a S.W.A.T. team in San Francisco. After 15 years, he is burned out and needs a change of scenery and some down time. He travels to Sunnyville to get away and agrees to teach a self-defense class for women during his time off.
Desi Whitman is a dog groomer/dog sitter. She’s a strong woman who doesn’t do relationships and doesn’t let anyone get close. After a scary situation, Desi enrolls in a self-defense class, hoping to get a sense of normalcy back.
When Desi and Reznor meet, the attraction is mutual but Desi isn’t interested (at least that is what she keeps telling herself). Reznor wants to pursue their attraction. Desi wants to keep him at arms-length. It’s all about Control. Can Reznor break down her defenses and prove to her he’s worth giving up control for?
Control is “Classic” K. Bromberg. This story has all the feels. It’s funny, witty, and the chemistry between Desi and Reznor is combustible.
I loved Desi from the little bit we saw of her in the other Everyday Heroes books, so I was super excited that K. Bromberg gave her a novella.
Desi is spunky and has a fierce attitude! She is definitely someone I would want on my side. She is the type of person who needs control in her life, but unfortunately, her security and control was stolen from her by a random stranger in her own home. Now, she now lives in a constant state of fear and doubt. At the urging of her best friend’s husband, Officer Grant Malone (Cuffed), she decides to attend a self-defense class.
SWAT officer Reznor Mayne has experienced a lot of things on the job. Things that haunt him. Things that keep him from getting married and having kids for fear that each call could be his last. After his last call went horribly wrong, he needed to take time off to clear his head. That is how he ended up in Sunnyville teaching a self-defense class. As it goes, things don’t always go as planned.
That is especially true when he meets his sassy new student who knocks him off his feet.
Desi and Reznor seemed to have an instant connection filled with a load of sexual tension. I loved seeing Desi’s vulnerable side. I also loved how Reznor found ways to care for her which ultimately penetrated the walls she has built around herself. I loved how Desi and Reznor fit one another like a missing puzzle piece.
K. Bromberg did an amazing job developing the storyline and the characters in this sweet, sexy novella!
Control by K Bromberg
We met and fell in love with Desi in Cuffed, which was her best friend, Emerson’s story. I was THRILLED to hear Desi would be getting a novella of her own and Bromberg did not disappoint.
After a traumatic experience, Desi signed up for self defense classes where she meets the utterly delectable Reznor Mayne. Reznor is on a short break from his position on the SF SWAT team after he too has a devastating experience. While Desi is a character who has defensive walls built all around her, Rez shows the gentleness and determination to break her down. The two butted heads quite often which made their sexy times fairly scorching!
This was a great, short novella to accompany the Everyday Heroes series which can definitely be read as a standalone. While this was a short read, I feel that the author did justice to the characters and kept the story more than interesting. Interesting enough that I didn’t put it down till the end!
*I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

3.5 stars–CONTROL by K. Bromberg is instalment 3.5 (and novella) in the author’s EVERYDAY HEROES, erotic, romance series, and the latest instalment in the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights. This is pet groomer Desi Whitman, and SWAT Team commander Reznor Mayne’s story line. CONTROL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line in the EVERYDAY HEROES series is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Desi and Reznor) CONTROL follows the building relationship between pet groomer Desi Whitman, and SWAT Team commander Reznor Mayne. Reznor Mayne needs a break. When his last assignment went all to h*ll, the SWAT Team leader was ready to pack it in but his commanding officer told him to take some time off in order to re-evaluate his priorities. Heading to Sunnyville, California Reznor volunteered to work the local Self Defense Class. Enter pet groomer and self-defense student Desi Whitman, and the woman with whom Reznor would fall in love. What ensues is the contemptuous relationship between Desi and Reznor, and the potential fall-out as Desi is unable to let go of the past, pushing Reznor out of her life.
Desi Whitman is lost and struggles to move forward with her life. Suffering PTSD from a home invasion, our heroine begins to pull away from family and friends, preferring to remain locked behind closed doors fearing an attack at any moment. Meeting Reznor Mayne brings all sorts of problems including a palpable sexual attraction, an attraction that is in opposition her need to keep all men at a distance. Reznor Mayne knows the struggle of PTSD including the nightly terrors that keep our hero up late into the night but Reznor had no idea he would meet his future in a woman caught up in the memories of the past, a past he is hoping to help her forget.
The relationship between Reznor and Desi is one of immediate attraction but Desi’s need to belittle all men adds insult to injury for an already broken ‘everyday hero’. Desi struggles with her attraction to Reznor Mayne, an attraction that brings out some mean-spirited attitude that doesn’t belong. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense.
The secondary and supporting characters are colorful and dynamic. We are introduced to instructor Bear, as well as the return of Grant and Emerson Malone (Cuffed #1) for cohesion.
CONTROL is a story of friendship, love and happily ever after; a tale of struggle, romance, and moving forward. The premise is engaging and entertaining; the romance struggles in the face of preconceived notions; the characters are colorful and animated but I had a difficult time accepting the heroine’s immaturity and attitude. Desi’s vulnerability is expected but her treatment of others is questionable and disheartening. Sometimes there is no forgiveness when a character’s behaviour is problematic. My enjoyment of the story line suffered with the heroine’s biased attitude.
After meeting Desi in Cuffed I was so excited to hear she was getting a story. Renzor is HOT!!! Desi doesn’t like to be controlled, Renzor likes to be in Control. When these two come together the chemistry is off the charts.

~ 3.5 Stars ~
Control is a novella that is a part of K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heroes Series. This is a standalone novella and I don’t feel you have to read the other books in this series to enjoy this story. Although you do meet Desi in Cuffed, because she is Emerson’s BFF.
I enjoyed this read but it didn’t WOW me like I thought it was going to. This is a story about having and keeping Control. Both Desi and Reznor were fighting to maintain control of their lives. I felt there was a little too much push and pull on Desi’s part in this book. I found it was hard for me to connect with her character as the story progressed. But I did love Reznor….he is the bomb!!! Totally a swoon worthy Hero.
Control is on the shorter side of K. Bromberg’s books, but it is a novella so I was expecting that. I will say I didn’t feel like this story was lacking even though it was a novella. One thing I will say was I was hoping she would’ve made this storyline a little more suspenseful. Playing off of what happened to Desi in this story and what causes her fear and standoffishness. I thought something more could’ve come of that. It was kind of anticlimactic to me.
Control is the story between Desi and Reznor. Desi is Emerson’s BFF and had something scary happen to her, so now she fears everything and has decided to build walls to keep herself safe, so to speak. Reznor is a Commandor for the SFPD SWAT team, but is getting burnt out and needs a break. So his boss gives him the opportunity to go to Sunnyville for a short time and help teacher self defense classes. This is where Desi and Reznor meet and things don’t start out too good. Can Reznor break down Desi’s walls and figure out how to help her?? Will these two find a common ground for their future?? Read this entertaining story to find out.
I would recommend this series to all romance readers who look for something more from their stories. Each of these books have that some extra!! Definitely worth the read.
ARC received for an honest review
Waaah so good! This 1001 Nights short story was the perfect thing to hold me over till the next full K. Bromberg story.
It took me a little bit to get into this story, but I think that was my frame of mind at the time of picking it up, nothing to do with the story. And once I got going, I couldn’t put this one down.
If you have read the previous Everyday Heroes series, you have met our leading lady Desi already – she’s Em from Cuffed’s best friend.
Desi and Rez do not start off on the best of terms, however they can’t keep their thought off each other – nor their eyes and other bits
I was more than ready for Desi’s story. I knew it was going to be an interesting one, and Ms Bromberg has not disappointed.
Full of laughter, tears, great banter between our lovelies and between their friends, I really enjoyed Control.
I can’t wait to see what Ms Bromberg brings us next.
