Total control. I need it in every aspect of my life. Some would say that makes me an asshole. A freak. But as long as everything’s exactly how I want it, I’m completely flexible. I’m kidding.Okay, I’m not kidding.Lacey needs someone in her life who’s bigger and scarier than her demons, and she wants that man to be me. Her boss. The Viking in a suit.I hope she understands what she’s getting into. … understands what she’s getting into. This daddy isn’t going to pat her on the head and tell her she’s a good girl for nothing. Especially not when she’s spinning out of control.
Author’s note: this book contains depictions of eating disorder recovery.

Risqué, unique, and riveting.
The story of Stian and Lacey has a deep sense of intimacy, like a whisper shared in secrecy. They connect in subtle waves as their needs naturally arise in the everyday friction of work. How I loved the elegance of it all, the sheer weight of their personalities softly engaging with each other.
An authoritative museum director and a clever, obedient assistant who start working together in unsual circumstances, and slowly come to recognise a bond based on control, submision, respect, trust, and a pleasure that crosses the realm of words into a tangible, breathing presence. So exciting, so enticing…
I felt completely ensnared by the dynamics between the characters. As they explore their connection, it’s a beautiful portrait of vulnerability, understanding and powerful desires.
A remarkable point is that the female character deals with a delicate health issue that has to do with anxiety and self-worth. This works a paramount role in her relationship with Stian and in her life in general. I was impressed by the author’s portrayal of this woman’s mind going through that, and how the male character approaches her needs, too. This modern Viking is a charismatic blend of ancient Hero and stern Dom that’s become one of my favourite book (man)boyfriends ever 😀
I also loved the antiquities and mythology theme so much!! Like Hercules, this couple has to go through harrowing trials before claiming victory. It’s an excruciating time to see Lacey suffer because of her inner demons, and he feels so powerless to protect her. Though it’s heartbreaking and I wanted to help her too, hope finally blooms in an ending that is inspiring, romantic and moving.
What a beautiful romance with a soul. This author proves herself every time
This was my first read from this author and it won’t be my last. It’s a well written “daddy” book but it’s also more than that. There’s definitely heat and don’t get me wrong the chemistry and kink scenes were FANTASTIC! But for me the highlight of the book was the genuine affection that develops between the two characters and watching them grow together. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This is a powerful book and once I started I couldn’t put it down. It is also a book about hope and the powerful influence of love be it through BDSM or other means. It is a compelling insight into the insidious nature of a disease that is often misunderstood and is often difficult to read but also provides hope. There is no sugar coating and at times it is raw but it is also a charming love story.
Control Freak really surprised me. I was not prepared for the character depth involved.
A lot of the story details Lacey and her struggle with anorexia. We get to see inside her mind and her disease; how she deals with day to day social interactions that are commonplace for the majority of us. I found it surprising how much of a focus this issue was in Control Freak, but I have no complaints about it. Without it, we wouldn’t understand Lacey and her need to be submissive.
Stian is the kind of Daddy I love – not too stern, accepting, sexy, and possessive. And the way he just accepted and loved Lacey was the best. He never gave up and did the best he could to have the happy ending he envisioned.
Emotional, sexy, and with its healthy share of kink, Control Freak is another great release by Brianna Hale.
3.5 stars
Stain wants control of EVERYTHING. And when he gets involved with someone that’s no different.
Lacey has had a hard life. She struggles to control anything and so she finds unhealthy ways to control the wrong things.
Stain and Lacey might be perfect for each other if their battles for control can withstand life.
This book wasn’t what I expected, but in a good way. I was expecting an extremely dirty book basked on the cover and title. What I got was a romance story filled with struggle, hardship, understanding, and hope. Well worth the read.
I can’t describe in words how much I loved Control Freak . I loved every minute of this delicious read and I wanted MORE. Brianna Hale tackled quite a sensitive topic so beautifully, it made my heart ache for these characters. Such raw emotions, it left me breathless in certain scenes. CONTROL FREAK is exquisite, emotional and sensual. 6 ‘Freak’ Stars!
